See, this is why I love Donna. She saves the day by just doing the most logical thing to do, and she does it so swiftly and nonchalantly. No big build-up, no dramatic cocky feisty monologue while doing it, or prophecy behind it. She just uses common sense to solve the problem and uses her personality and personal moral code to justify her actions. Donna was like a real person, a brilliant, tangible, entertaining person that was just a perfect friend for the Doctor. Not a love interest, not a flirty feisty mystery, just a good distinct companion that does the things that the Doctor can't, not because she has special powers or is a mysterious secret entity, but just because she's a different person. And a brilliant person she is too.
Yeah, and then this whole business of "Doctor Donna" (the most important woman in the universe, that she and the Doctor were destined to meet as Rose said) contradicts everything you said. At least Amy and Rory remained a normal human couple after Series 6.
Mayo Tango131 well but Donna was STILL all the time a normal human with normal abilities except during Journeys end when she was the DoctorDonna.
But Amy was "special" because she grew up with a crack in her bedroom and could "bring peple back" by remembering .
And Rory was a plastic Roman for 2000 years and had still memories about it.
That's not quite the definition of " a normal human couple".
In my opinion Moffat sucks at creating realistic, human characters. His female characters we shouldn't even bring up.

A realistic person had turned away from the Doctor by mentioning "Rose" for the millionth time, but Martha did not. A realistic person would have moved house or killed her unbearable mother, but Donna did not.
Have you seen The Power of Three? The Ponds are the most normal couple after traveling with the Doctor compared to alien hunters (Martha, Mickey) Rose Tyler agent of Torchwood in a parallel univers with a clone of the Doctor as husband, or Donna and her latent powers of Time Lady as to Knock down a group of Masters. I know about the cracks in the wall or the plastic centurion, but those things do not affect them and are almost forgotten in later episodes. The only abnormal is Clara Oswald, the Lisa Simpsons of the series.
Anyone else think it would have been really funny if the car went really, really slow and Donna said something like: "I hate this time period."
Oh, this was a cruel foreshadowing of Donna's fate, losing her memory as well...
Poor Donna; you were the Noblest Donna of them all. ;(
I've watched this episode many times (one of my favs) and I've only just realised the connection! :)
Didn’t she regain her memories despite what the Doctor did?
@@pendragonxt3674 she did.. but then her mind almost burned up and had to forget again.. until the 60th anniversary this year anyway
@@bradDark6941and much later with the 14th Doctor I’m guessing.
Donna Noble had the best series so far, hands down.
The wasp never seems like it actually wants to kill anyone. It always seems to miss on purpose, or fly too slowly.
Nick Hoad actually it kills with objects because it’s mother would read books written by Agatha Christy.
This had me laughing so hard when I first saw it. The way he was saying "zzzzzz!"
1:33 Silent Pool... maybe Moffat found the inspiration in this episode for doing the Lake Silencio plot after.
Can we talk about how the doctor never used the sonic screwdriver this episode
That was relatively common at the time. And if it was used, it was only for stuff like opening doors and scanning computers. Half the time it didn't even work, due to deadlocks.
underrated episode
I love this
they need to do more like this
It's pretty good. My only problem was the annoying thought of the writers that there HAS to be an alien or monster in every episode. It's alright.
yeah :)
@@Lythgoemaniait’s doctor who what did you expect they tried that with Jodie and it was shit so is RTD2 tbh
[nervous whispering] if moffat wrote this episode agatha christie would probably be 'feisty, sexy' and flirting with the doctor
At least there wouldn't be a goddamn giant wasp
Blimey the Doctor's hair is particularly good in this...
I Love how Murray Gold incorporated some small elements of Cziffra's "flight of the Bumblebee" in the soundtrack for this episode.
Here's a cool fact. Fenella Woolgar who played Agatha Christie was the voice of Sofia Lamb in Bioshock 2.
And apparently has more than one reference to this episode in, although I can't confirm that as I've never played it.
The Doctor saying "Agatha" makes me so happy ♥
On a deleted scene the doctor and Donna visit Agatha again when she is a pensioner and remind her of everything that Happened and showed her the book that said "Published in the year 5 billion"
You know, his transforming scene would be so much more intense and scary if they hadnt made him 'bzz' randomly. it sounded a bit stupid, really. it would have been better to have a buzzing sound over the top of his talking. who agrees?
Nope
Well, this episode was meant to be humourous, so that's probably why they made him buzz.
I love how he says "yeah bit we solved anotger riddle"
I know the CGI is comically bad but I can't hide from the fact that I want the re-watch this Ep.
Me seeing giant wasp: “SHIIIIT!!!!”
AAAAAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!! ATTACK OF THE KILLER WASP FROM OUTER SPACE!!!!!!
Am I the only one who thought this was a foreshadow towards Donna's fate?
They don't make them like this anymore
Agatha represents how donna forgot
NOT THE BEE! NOT THE BEE!
Lol
At 2:36 when Donna says “How do you kill a wasp? Drown it.” Does it remind anyone else of the scene in “The Runaway Bride” where The Doctor drowns all the Racnoss?
They both killed insect-like creatures by drowning them...
Love this episode.
Should I really be watching this at 12:49 at night with insectiphobia?
Awkward Glasses it's ok, it drowned
No but it’s doctor who
It’s ok. My apiphobia also acted up in this episode.
They should bring the Vespiform back
Apparently, one of the episodes in Series 8 is called "Mummy On The Orient Express". Seems to be a reference to one of Christie's books.
If this Hybrid Vespiform's father were still alive! He would tell his insane son to stop killing innocent lives!
Blummin wasps, always up to no good. I find you can distract them with orange fanta.
I feel bad for the mother of the Vespiform.
Yeah she lost two sons.
GREAT, NOW IT'S CHASIN' US!
Wow when i saw ur pic after reading the comment i was like "0" RUN ITS MR BURNSA
I absolutely loved this episode mixing my 2 favourite genres si-fi and murder mystery
Wow the wasp dude looks like Peter Davison
When I was a kid I assumed it was Davison's son or something.
Used to have nightmares when I was a kid after this episode. Usually of giant bees and wasps. Freaked me out a lot. Especially when I watched that Simpsons episode where Bart morphs into a fly if I remember correctly.
Bro if that thing was in my car I would use a flame thrower
Wow CGI looks way better when you're a kid 😂
Bees are nice!
wasps are cruel!
The Hybrid Vespiform's father is good!
0:19 lol
I just realized Jyn Erso is in this
Holy shit, she is! How the hell did I miss that?
That's a giant wasp
So wait agatha would have originally figured all of this out without the doctor?
I love this episode!
Am I the only one kind of annoyed that the writers feel the need to include an alien in every episode? I like this episode, but I would prefer normal historicals like we got in the Hartnell era.
I think the doctor should stick with bees
Get now its chasing us
wohoo!! more from my fave episode!!
You can never have too much of a good thing!
yes doctor with no idea whats goin its totaly fine to jsut random ly appear at said hotal and confuse her even more with a out of place police box and your presence.
we're gonna need a bigger newspaper
Where is kamen rider TheBee when you need him
ohh scary warsp so cool i love it
Forgive my asking, but what is Tennant saying when hes like "Donna that thing.."(whatever he says that i cant understand) and shes like neither would i....???? Thx
Brish Courser " that thing couldn't help itself "
This was like the roahld Dahl story about the bees but expanded
Thank God Lando Norris wasn't in this scene. He would have been done for.
This was the exact moment doctor who jumped the shark for me
I thought it was just mad that madam Hooch's character got to be the vicar's mother because a giant alien wasp had sex with her...
Does anybody know the name of this soundtrack?
Sadly it wasn't released, which is bad because the music is great!
Such a shame! I really like this soundtrack.
There is a soundtrack for certain parts of this episode called 'The Unicorn & The Wasp' :)
Slowest.... Car chase...... Ever.
BZZZZZZZZZZ SAID THE BUZZZZZZZZY BEEEEE
I hate bugs
i knew it was that guy
i didnt catch what the doctor said any one mind telling me?
At what moment?
PlazmaReaper after dona threw the wasp into the lake.
she says "how do you kill a wasp, drown it. just like his father"
chase1146 Ah, he says "Donna, that thing couldn't help itself.".
PlazmaReaper thought so. i was at school at the time so i couldent here
chase1146 Ah.
I always despair when I see rubbish hate comments for Moffat in the comments section. Am I the only one who prefers Moffat to Davies?
4th
fdfs
This was not a good episode. The wasp thing was awful
But the script was brilliant! There's more to an episode than the CGI.
Doctor Who Fan It was good.......except for the repetitiveness of the Doctor saying Christie is the greatest thing ever. This also drags down other potentially good stories like The Unquiet Dead and The Shakespeare Code, while slightly dragging down still good stories like Vincent And The Doctor.
This was the worst episode
Maybe for you.
Nope that’s the entirety of series 14
