Tuto génial ! Merci beaucoup ! Très pédagogique, avec dynamisme et qui passe en revue toutes les techniques pour croquer des gens avec différente techniques. Un grand merci.
This is an awesome video! You have made drawing people to put in our pictures feasible....another project for me to work on! After watching you, I realize that I make my heads a little too big and my torso too short. And, I put in too much detail. I'm going to draw people on scrap paper, junk mail envelopes....it's going to be my new doodle!! Thank you so much for sharing. Nell
You have a very good teaching style: unhurried and thorough. I appreciate an instructor who doesn’t mind letting a UA-cam video get long (over 30 minutes) when the instruction is as well planned and as fully packed as yours is. Thank you. I have subscribed after seeing this.
Wow, Thank you so much for such wonderful compliments on my teaching and videos!! 😃 Thanks a lot for subscribing, welcome in the creative side of the Force !!!!! 😁 😆 😉 Your comment is really appreciated! Plus people sometimes tell me I speak too fast or I got too enthusiastic about my content so I was glad you thought this was "unhurried" and fully packed of good info. See you soon then!! 😊
Hello Anne I am Samantha. I am a new subscriber and have been binge watching your videos. This is so helpful for me. I come from a graphic design background and this has taught me to loosen up my approach...I am so rigid and try to capture every detail. But with just a few strokes you have captured the essence of the human figure. Lots of love from Italy 🇮🇹🇮🇹❤❤🌻🌻
Thank you so much for your beautiful tutorial! I absolutely love your accent!!! The way you presented things makes it so clear and so easy to follow along. Your Enthusiasm shows that you're very passionate about your work! I have subscribed to your Channel for this reason! I have been following a number of other watercolor painters like Umberto Rossini, Tim Wilmot and Alvaro Castgnet. With Alvaro being the best!!!!! I will try doing the 100 figures a week. I love your style of teaching such a difficult subject. I cannot wait to learn more from you. I would like to mention that whenever you're doing a painting or sketch please don't speed it up and play music, I would much prefer to hear your commentary than to hear the music. Please do not stop making video tutorials! Marvin
This was an outstanding demo!!!! You discussed MANY things that I needed to hear such as negative as well as positive drawing/painting, skin, tone, general body shape and gesture, dropping color in on the figures were just a few of the 20 tips given! Merci, merci for taking time to share such valuable information!!!!! Going to go practice now and finish the #100people one week challenge. I realized I was making it so much harder than it really is! Great teaching Anne!
Tami Jacques, thank you so much for your enthusiasm! I was delighted to read your comment 😊 and to know that indeed the video was bringing a lot of things people need to learn. How was the end of the challenge for you ?! ☺️ See you!
Following the White Rabbit Its a really helpful information.. Thanks for sharing your work.. So i can make the figures easy by watching your tutorials.. 👍💖
Hi, my name is Edson, from Brazil, thanks a lot for this real watercolor classroom. This is my first week on watercolor, I will try to do like this. Thanks!!
What a wonderful art video! So glad I found you. Merci'! Lots of inspiration from another country & culture. Americans lack in the arts. Basquiat & Pollack were our best.
Merci! That's exactly what I needed. I copied all your exercises and will post them to my blog. You have given me the confidence that I sorely needed to stop removing people from my street scenes!!! Thank you also for the link to Trevor Waugh's videos (in your 100 people video) - I have ordered his book so I can keep practising.
Brilliant! Thank you so much. I have been searching for ways to have simplified people for when I do urban sketching and this is exactly what I was looking for. I am certainly going to subscribe. Love your energy! ❤️
Sketching people is one of my favorite things! Especially in watercolor while I’m out doing something at the diner or a cafe or whatever. I usually end up sketching portraits rather than figures and silhouettes so this is super cool! I love little blobby people shapes in a crowd. =>.
Wonderful that you are an expert at it!! 👍 As for me, I definitely have to keep working on it and practicing it more. 😉 Please tell me if you try the silhouettes and people in crowd! 😊
Brilliant video, this is pure gold, just what I needed. Have struggled for years with adding figures to watercolour sketches and usually chicken out for fear of ruining it. Have been watching this video over and over while trying to improve my stick men - "Lowery would be so proud" - So "One week 100 people" ...I'm up for the challenge!
Thank you for this tutorial! Just what I need and actually much more comprehensive than I expected. You have covered so much in such a fun and upbeat manner, I really enjoy watching you teach. The I'm now a subscriber and will join your challenge.
Thank you, Anne-Laure. This was really helpful! I've done 61 sketches of people so far this week, so I have a bit of catching up to do. So I might practise the little silhouettes you've shown us! Merci!
Thanks Anne-Laure. I was so far behind, but I managed to finish at last, practising your little silhouettes. It was great fun! Thank you!! mhbd.blogspot.ie/2018/03/oneweek100people2018-day-6-all-done-at.html
I'm not very interested in sketching people yet, but I'm binge watching your videos 😂 I really love your painting stile and your explanation are always very clear, thanks! 😊😊😊
I especially enjoyed the use of random swipes of paint as the basis for figures. I found this to be extremely useful in depicting a group of people. In the past I've gotten mired down in showing each individual in the group. I will try to use this approach to suggest a troupe of dancers. Merci!
Hi Sharon! Thanks for your feedback. 😊 I am so glad you liked the stroked approach and it made you make a step forward for your group sketches! Is it possible that you share a link for this group of dancers sketch?! I would be happy to see it! 😌
What a brilliant teaching video! You have obviously put in so much thought into this topic. Thank-you so much! I have learnt so much from this one video alone :-)
Brilliant video! You were the first to give me the "Freedom of letting it go" and not being to pedantic about lines and brushstrokes. Great! Thank you very much and all the best to you! Herm
Thanks for the great video, really inspiring! So much I picked up a sketchbook on sale for just rough human figures. New to your channel and beginner! Great content!
Your videos are one of my favorite things! They always cheer me up and inspire me to be more creative. Thanks for the tips on figure sketching. Love it!
Thank you so much, Faypaints. 😃😘 And now, when I think about it, I put all the tracks in stereo mode. 😌✌️ I am so happy to inspire you and to cheer you up!! I would say that, even if creating the videos is a huge work, making them and talking to you all through the camera cheers me up too. 😀❤️
I know that making videos is a lot of work. And you put so much into yours, I am sure they are very time and energy consuming. I am praying that you will have the energy to continue making them for a long time. :)
Thankyou! I used to be very good a rapid gesture drawings..they are fun if you can let your hand go..I think the first 20-100 drawings are about letting the hand move freely so don't judge them..I haven't tried with watercolor... can't wait to try :)
Hi Sweet Street, yeah that's a real problem that our expectations are usually too high and we discourage ourselves that way... 🤔 Practice is for practice !! 😅 I hope you will try with watercolor for real! Did you?! That's really different, even from a brush pen, because of the juicyness but so enjoyable. ☺️
Loved it! Thank you first tips were invaluable. I always make my heads too big and the figure too short in general, despite having studied proportions for ages. I usually sketch with my pentel brush pen so not focusing on the details is already a big accomplishment for me. But when I try it with watercolors I get only blobs. I'll try your approach now!
Thank you so much, Luisa, for such a compliment! 😃 I hope that watching the video will help you to improve your figures for real. Sometimes, even while having the proportions and ideas about how to do it in mind, it takes quite a lot of practice to implement it on the paper. ☺️ Practicing with the Pentel is nice ! Next time you try with watercolor, try to use few water (what Marc would call "honey consistency") and with a not too loaded brush, to avoid the blob issue. 😉 You also need a brush with a good point and maybe just practicing handling the brush to get small more precise marks first?! Just some thoughts... 😊 Good luck with your figures!
Very informative, Anne-Laure. I remember watching you paint people in Montreal and wanted to ask you about it but I was too busy trying to keep up with the pace that Marc and Liz set. I'm a really slow sketcher :-) I'd love to understand how you get your blacks to dry so quickly to avoid them mixing with the other colors, particularly when drawing people in real time.
I just happened to stumble over your video. I have watched a lot of these how to paint people videos but yours just stands out. Your enthusiasm and your personality really made it a delight to watch. And you made it seem so simple that I will have to pick up a pen and a brush and practice your technique as soon as I can. Great job!
Oh my! Thank you so very much for this video. I’ve been having an internal struggle with myself about drawing/painting figures. I’ve wanted to learn but kept putting it off because it just seemed so overwhelming. Maybe it’s move of not wanting to fail but if I never start I’ll never get good. I decided while watching this that I am going to do this challenge even though I’m a week late. It’s for me and you gave me so many good tips. I’ve already done 13 people😍
You are very welcome, Dionne!! 😊 I am so happy you liked the video and thought it can help you! 😃 I admit I don't do it as often as I should, either (I mean sketching figure). That's wonderful that you already sketched 13 peoples after watching the video!! That's a really good idea to do the challenge, even afterwards. Last year, I was not able to complete it because I was too busy that week and, a week later, I went to a flee market event (indoors) and started sketching the people, just with a pen... And I did 100 in one day!!!! 😱😃🤣 Once you get started you can't stop anymore. 😅 I am going to upload a leaf through of my small "sketching people" sketchbook today or tomorrow so I hope it will inspire you even a bit more. 😊 Good luck to keep going!!
Bonjour la douaisienne. J'avais vu vos vidéos de carnets de croquis. Excellente vidéo sur les personnages dans votre anglais que je comprend bien. Merci
