I love when you prove the haters wrong. Way to go, Dan!
That quick, I would say they were under priced if anything.
Those are totally awesome. I think they could have sold for more. So unique and just wonderful!! We love your YT channel, Dan :)
I just noticed that. I think you should have set a higher price. maybe 600?
@@ThatOpalGuy no... it's a fair price.
Rocks are worth what people are willing to pay for them. Have really enjoyed your videos for several years now. Happy Easter!
Thanks, you too!
I personally can't afford it, but I think the price is justified because of the amount of work involved and the scarcity of the stone. It's gorgeous stuff.
Thanks
And thanks to you too! Your video's are really inspiring.@@Danhurd
It's not just the manual work that goes into these stones, which is already substantial. You have a real eye for quality and picking the perfect details for these pendants.
I feel it's one of those ecomonies that it's worth what it's worth to someone else. The Skill, Knowledge and Know-How, having the machines, knowing the locations where to harvest, costs spent to do it all, carving, shaping, jewerly making... All of this is well worth the beautiful pieces you have created. Fantastic Dan.
Well said!
I look at this and there is no way I would pay that kind of money. But I realize other people see it completely differently.
Both are Beautiful and Dan is a master Creator. If I had the money, I would have Loved to own one of them. I know the new owners will be very pleased with their purchases.
@@davidwhiteman5451 don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to devalue what Dan does. I can see the craftsmanship and artistry, and I appreciate all the labor that does into it. I'm just saying it's not for me, especially at the price.
@@jhamaker It's a lot of money to drop on a luxury. But these stones are also beautiful, rare, and hand-processed. So there will be a lot of people who can't justify the price and others who can. Both are right for their situations.
Look at that rock!! Those ocean picture stones have always impressed me.
Amazing aren't they
@@Danhurd 100% amazing. I actually didn't know they existed until about 4 months ago. It actually might have been one of your videos I stumbled across.
They are just perfection
@@kerrysmith9844 I had to sit and think about that for a minute. Out of all the rock's I've looked at over the decades, yes, I would say that all Ocean Picture Stones are perfect. WOW! A perfect rock! Who knew!!
Wow, what a fascinating find! The intricate patterns and colors in the Ocean Picture Stone are mesmerizing. While I'm no expert, it's incredible to think that such beauty could potentially hold such significant value. Thanks for sharing your discovery with us!"
I really enjoyed Dan Hurd videos. he has worked hard to get his fame and notoriety and 1,000,000+ subscribers. I also cut and sell ocean stone on my small Etsy shop. Most of mine sell for under $100. It’s just such a beautiful rock and pleasure to cabochon.
I don't have $500 to spend on a pendant; but, boy howdy, I wish I did. Phenomenal pieces.
Thanks
The dendrites look like islands. Very nice.
minerals can be worth a lot once the person puts the work into processing the stones for sell. I believe Dan is correct on prices, especially if he is shipping items. I've seen pendants go for more than what Dan is asking
I think $700 is the biggest one we have sold.
@@Danhurd
Wow..would have love to see that
I hope you have about 1000 ready to load on the website, because everybody is going to want one!
I have 6
I'd love to see a video about you Dan and how you got started in prospecting and stone cutting.
Very interesting to see your process and making of pendants. Oh my goodness, the colors are spectacular at the end. People who love the quality of the stone and appreciate all the time and knowledge and effort that goes into it will be willing to pay the price.
the depth and clouds really popped after polish wasn't expecting the clouds to be so prefect
hey realy are arn't they, that is why that stone is the best
Beautiful work Dan! Absolutely worth every penny!
They are just beautiful!! Love that stone so much.
I was told once long ago that unless 25% of your customers are complaining about the price, you’re not charging enough. Kind of greedy sounding but supply and demand usually dictates prices, and you never want to sell your hard work too cheap. Those are rare and unusual pieces that deserve to fetch a premium as they come from a finite resource. Happy Easter to you and your family Dan.
You forget one thing...the niche market...maybe your selling to the wrong people. There are people that would always pay your price you just need to find them
Beautiful stones and beautiful work!! Thamk you for sharing!!
If I would put this up for sale in my store for 500$ it would never sell. It really helps that you have more then 1 million followers that have seen you dig the stuff and made the stone 'famous'. It is worth whatever someone is willing to give for it so good for you.
Well, he’s worked hard for his fame and notoriety and deserves his price. I do enjoy his videos especially geology lesson of the day. But I also have a shop on Etsy. Most of my items are selling for 100 or less.
It is such a beautiful stone. Hard to believe all of it comes from him and his mining. So fun to cut.
I really enjoyed this video showing how you grade stones and turn slabs into finished products. I’ve joined my local rock club and they have tons of great equipment for members to use.
WOW! Im sorry I bought my wife one already, this one would be worth it for sure. Maybe an upgrade....
I really loved that second one.
I love watching these videos! I learb so much!! I never knew there could be such beautiful stones!!
These are amazing. I've seen you pull and lick hundreds of pounds of Ocean Picture Stone but these pendants show me exactly why you are in love with it. When you polished it so thin the clouds come out and the whole picture really pops.
I really like the sharp edges of the first stage with the fatter bottom. Very symmetrical
Actually Dan. Not only have I checked out your store, but I have purchased things . Your prices are reasonable and fair. Keep living the dream Lil Buddy.
its cool to see what i used to make being used.. i used to work in a diamond plating saw factory making stone grinders, bore hole cutter and various other tools seeing a stone grinder being used for what it was intended is cool.. the electrolysis stage for those griding blades takes 2 whole days of plating and cleaning.
Very cool!
awesome cutting and polished ,nice jobs of those. thank you for sharing the adventure and information
For me this highlights the artistic nature of our creators handy work. 🎉
As an illustrator and graphic designer, these amazing rocks really appeal to me . If I had the budget, I would definitely invest in one of your pendants - they’re just beautiful! I love your passion and knowledge Dan, it’s totally infectious! You have a new fan and subscriber ❤ Thank you and blessings from Yorkshire (England 🇬🇧)
Oh, how I would love to use this shop to sharpen my kitchen knives. I can finish 5000 and 8000 on my normal sharpening stones, but the expediation of those grind wheels would be amazing!
Wonderful video! Amazing explanation of ocean picture stone and making your stone into something stunning. Thanks Dan!
My pleasure!
Wooow the clouds look amazing with your proper camera.
Really cool to see this side of your bidness, Dan...!! Love your show, brother... 👋🇨🇦🙂
I could see myself doing lapidary work. I looks like so much fun and creativity!!
Thanks Dan - another great video. Learnt alot. Love those stones & you passing on your knowledge ❤
Love to see that you free hand form the stones on the wheels. That's how my dad taught me how to do it too. I know sometimes dobbing them up might help depending on the material, especially when you take it to a polishing wheel using cerium oxide, but overall, I much prefer just using my hands to shape and polish the stone on the wheels.
This was great! Love seeing what you do in the shop, Dan. I'm an amateur woodworker, and know nothing of rocks, so it's fun to see how it's done!
Thanks 👍
Nice! Love that stuff! I didn’t think for a second you’d have a problem selling those! ❤
Look at that rock! those ocean picture stontes have always impressed me❤
great work cant wait to see you come out with ocean picture stone cufflinks
Those are both truly beautiful works of art Dan. Hope you have a blessed Easter holiday and thank you so much for sharing
Thank you and you as well.
So awesome Dan!!
With the proper camera and polish those cloud details are NUTS!!
I carve wooden dragons, flowers and also do woodturnig. I never sell my stuff, I either keep it or give it to friends as presents. I know how much goes into the whole process of creating beautiful objects. What the price Dan charges is fair. Keep it up, you've definitely earned my subscription to your channel.
Thanks for sharing!!
I love the ocean picture stone, your pendants are beautiful. I’d love to own some. Thank you. Happy Easter
Thank you! You too!
Your Beard is looking amazing again. Since your surgery. So jealous. I've been growing mine for about the same time, and only have about 3 inches from my chin. Lol love your work keep it up
I really enjoy your videos and the way you explain things. I would love to see you do a video that explains how and why you decide which way to cut any of the rocks you obtain! Blessings on you and your wonderful family! I love seeing a family that works together and learns together!
I will try and explain that the next time
Happy Easter to you and yours Dan!
And to you as well.
@Dan Hurd, love the video. It puts credence into your work of how you mine it to how you make your finished products of cabochons and necklaces. Your videos are amazing. Love seeing how you made it. Very beautiful ocean picture stone. Ive seen alot of your videos over the years, theyre excellent. Keep up the good work.
Awesome, thank you!
@@Danhurd you're welcome man :)
The variety on your channel is just the Best. Congrats on selling your pendants so fast. I liked the bigger one....the water looked like it was rolling right off the edge. Super nice blue. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much!
Yes, and I spotted a sister raw rock in the video that looked the same. I was thinking it could have been cut to suggest a waterfall.
Those things are amazing. Didn't see the true colour until you got them into the photo box with the better camera. The depth of colour and the detail are amazing. If I could swing it my wife would love one. Great work Dan.
Glad you like them!
I have learned a lot watching your posts this week!
Glad to hear it!
Such gorgeous cabs! ❤❤❤😊
Those are really cool looking stones!
Those are beautiful Dan. Best to you and yours.
Thank you kindly
I’m very pleased with the three specimens I’ve purchased! I love seeing the process and would love to make a pendant myself, if I had the equipment. Just beautiful!
Glad you like them!
Good for you dan, you rock, literally
Thanks for a great video Dan! Love the educational aspect of this one. I think your prices are justified. Best of luck to you on the sale of both. From Toronto here.
Thanks, they both sold in about an hour and a half
Hi Dan
I wanted to say how impressed I am with the quality of the products on your site!
And it looks like that it wasn’t just the “two” that went in an hour and half… But several!! ( for $499 ).
That’s phenomenal! And very well deserved.
Some of the very large display pieces are just Jaw Dropping!
It’s interesting… Because I was on the slightly sceptical side ( at the beginning of the video ), but then as the pendants were put through the preparation process, it became clear that your expertise also really lies in having a VERY experienced eye… And knowing what is ultimately going to produce a premium piece… Which a noob like me wouldn’t see at all!
Kind regards - resh
Thank you for saying this. And noticing, yes we have sold 5 so far, 3 left. I made extra because I knew what would happen.
Wow sooo beautiful ❤
Happy Easter from Denmark 🇩🇰
Thank you! You too!
Those are both so beautiful! I love Ocean picture stone!
Thanks so much 😊
They look SO much more incredible under the proper camera.... I was underwhelmed looking at them in the gopro footage, but the good video... woah!
Oh wow they look amazing there at the end with the different camera
Great episode, great you teach classes 👏
Thanks
1st time I see you without your Hat. Welcome to the Baldmans world. (Just a little trim).
Thanks for another awesome video. And your hobbies. You are good with your hands. "Can't take that away from you." Regards South Africa 🇿🇦.
Love your videos dan. I grew up in winfield in ok center.
Happy Easter!🐣
would absolutly love a few of those i run a small leather crafting business and see that as a perfect inlay item for jounals
Absolutely stunning
🙏❤️🌲
wow, these are amazing. Beyond amazing.
You do A brilliant job , certainly nice when there done 👍
Ocean picture stones are the best❤❤❤❤i just love stone jewelery
These are absolutely beautiful 💞
They are!
I learned to do lapidary work back when I was in my early teens and a jeweler's apprentice. Back then, we didn't have diamond wheels, just grinding stones, and polishing was done on a leather wheel with aluminum oxide suspension. I really need to get back into the craft; not many people do cabochons any more. I have all the machinery, just need to find the time.
Wow, what a fascinating find! I'm amazed by the intricate patterns and colors in this Ocean Picture Stone. The way it captures the essence of the ocean is truly mesmerizing. While I'm not an expert, its unique qualities certainly make it seem like it could be worth quite a bit. It's always thrilling to stumble upon treasures from nature like this. Thanks for sharing!"🎉🎉🎉
You are welcome!
Thanks love u@@Danhurd
Aluminum pen? Very cool! I'll have to appropriate that idea for my opal work. I use pencil right now.
Gorgeous pendants. Mother Nature is the best artist!
beautiful stones!
Definitely worth it. I checked out the store and I'm no expert but wow. He could probably squeeze a little more out of that beautiful stone. I don't agree with every one of his prices but he is fair and his work is great quality.
So beautiful Outstanding Artwork I do ENJOY :) :)
Dan two very nice pendant thank you for sharing this six stars brother
Great work Dan 🤝🍻👍
Those are unbelievable. I think you could sell those for more. They are exceptional.
If I had enough, I’d buy one forever my wife…and I know she doesn’t wear jewelry…but she’d wear either of those.
Those stones look amazing! A clouded sky as if made by the famous old Dutch painters, but in miniature with a 3D translucency and all natural. No wonder they sell at those prices. These truly are works of art. 👍♥️
Thanks!
Like the ocean picture stone. My Genie has a 15000 wheel which gives a pretty good polish. Had some rhodonite in quartz that I found I Colorado that wasn't very nice at 15000, but really came out great with cesium oxide
Man i love this stone! I would buy the crappy $20 stone in a heart beat that blue is my favorite shade 😍
Badass man nice work.
Thanks Dan...keep on Rockin great deal at 500
Thanks! Will do!
It will. Love the show
I enjoy your work keep it up please.
Beautiful stuff.
I would’ve loved to have a class taught by you…. Would be so much fun!
You should purchase some mount cams for your glasses or a go pro on a head set that way you can use both hands and we can watch everything your doing. Free hand it Dan
I have two head mount cams, don't use them very often, too cumbersome.
Pretty cool stones. That blue is pretty hard to come by 😂 I have found some pretty cool purple stuff out here
Love your videos been watching you for a long time. My birthday is on the 13th and I’m thinking about gifting myself of the pendants or something a little smaller ocean picture stone is beautiful.
Wow those are beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
We may have been able to see him get it from the ground to get it to the pendant.. dang !! Worth it!
Glad you think so!
Beautiful pictures !
Many thanks!
Really enjoy watching you cut and poliah stone
Thanks, I hope to do more of it on camera
