Man i love this guy. He makes everything easy to do and understand
+mahmoud bisharat Thanks for checking us out!
He is the best. He’s saved my 09 Altima so many times
Yes he does
I’d buy Len a beer anytime. Thanks for giving me all the knowledge and confidence I need to do front and rear on my 2012 Altima.
This company has 100% saved me so much money over the years.I picked up my wife’s Altima 5 days ago after they quoted me $740 to replace the rear shocks. I instantly went to aa1Auto and purchased these replacements for $79.98! It’s 5 days later and they’re already replaced! Question: Do you guys have an App or working on getting one?
These videos allowed me to attempt these repairs easily (first time never that easy). I'm watching this video after replacing strut, shocks and tie rod ends on my Camaro. Now my wife has asked me to replace hers on her Altima! I will look like I came out of a coal mine again!!!!!! Her car won't be so clean as this one in the video since she drives it year round in ice and snow and salt!!

Dealership told me my rear shocks needed replacement , I declined service and kept driving for a year, I decided to do the shocks myself today and boy did it make a difference… one of the old shocks didn’t even come up once pushed down… it fixed my bumpy ride and nose diving when braking. Thank you this how to do video is great… I bought KYB shocks and they work great to anyone who is planning to do this it’s easy to do like the video but it’ll take some time took me about 4 hours to do everything but I also flushed my rear brake calipers since it was convenient enough… the tools you will need for the shock replacement would be a torque wrench , 21mm socket for tires, 18mm socket for the large pin that holds the shock to the control arm, 13mm socket for the two top bolts holding the shock, 10 inch extension for torque wrench, breaker bar to break the nuts, jack stand, car jack, locking pliers, 16mm wrench for the original nut on the shock, 14mm wrench for the nut on the KYB shocks, KYB shocks come with all the mounts. It was fairly easy the only thing that took a little bit of time was getting the 18mm bolt out a rip is to use penetrating oil and also try to lift up the control arm to alleviate pressure on the bolt so it can loosen more easily. Follow the torques in the video and you’ll be good to go!
Also please note the big washer in the video was put upside down! It’s suppose to concave up! Just follow what the washer looks like from when you disassemble it!
Easiest change ever. Saved me 100’s
I should’ve watched this first!!! Followed TRQs directions and had to repeat the video like 5 times!! Thank you 1A AUTO

Love these videos. They are easy to follow and shows how most repairs can be carried out without a shop full of expensive specialty tools.
I do wonder why you do not try to clean up some of the components that are being re-used. For instance, I would have taken a wire wheel to the shock mount and applied a couple coats of rust preventative paint to prevent further corrosion.
Doing this today. I feel confident in how simple it is. Since the spring is separate.

@1aauto I’m left with a question. Where do I put my old shocks to be recycled or scrapped.
+Gene-Allen Marshall thanks for the question. Metal shock absorbers can be recycled as scrap metal. Remove all non-metal parts.
Theses guys are fantastic. Love their videos. Have not bought parts from them, but may start.
Old school torque specs are Two clicks in the elbow. ;D
Shock Nuts are nylon self locking nuts.
That's a badass torque wrench.
How come you replaced washer opposite of way it came off?
We have to do this soon. As well as the front struts. Thanks for sharing. 🤟
This guy does ok but I noticed as well as 2 others noticed he put washer backwards. He's working in a shop. Majority of guys don't have a shop or these tools. Type in 2013-2017 Altima rear shock if you have car in between these years. He does it at home in his driveway with tools most guys have and explains everything nice and slow. Did it my first time like he shows work out great.
These guys are the best
I use a color coded torque extension with my air gun, it gets it close to the torque and then I finish with a torque wrench.
Len is great! Awesome video!
Fantastic video. Gonna be ordering for my maxima soon.
+Renaldo Hicks Thanks for the feedback!
Great job young man.
I noticed that you replaced the brakes and the hub as well, right? The same was done for the front in another video. Do these brakes work better than the stock ones? They look more sportier.
P/S: Good job! Perfectly elucidated guide
Gracias profe , buen trabajo.
great video. seems like a somewhat simple process. i do have a question, will worn out shocks cause an alignment issue in the rear of the car, and should i replace the shocks before i get an alignment??? Thanks in advance.
Replace shocks then get an alignment
Changing just shocks don't mess with the alignment. Now if you need alignment, do the shocks first
Thank yall👍
@1AAuto is it okay to reuse the hardware from the old shock on the new shock and How could I tell if the hardware on the old shock is in good shape to reuse?
OH, no I put the strut mount washers on backwards. Will it damage anything?
Thanks
You saved my life, I forgot how to put back the bushings
What is the point of pushing down the rear strut 5 or 10 times?, Please let me know, Thank you
Very helpful. I think you put the metal washer in wrong side up.
+HM AtHome Thanks for the tip! We'll pass this info along to our production team.
12:38 what is that black spring ? And does that need to replaced as well ? I’m new
No need to go through trunk for anything in 2017 altima ?
I have a 2015 Altima s
Where should my tear shock torque be ?
Would changing your shocks miss align your tires?
+Koji Buterbaugh Thanks for watching! Replacing just the shocks should not effect the alignment, unless you had to remove any other steering components. 1aauto.com
no
when i do the compression to circulate the gas on the brand new shocks, they come up at different speeds after multiple compressions. Is this bad?
Thank you sir !

How much warranty do they come with?
Super helpful thank you!
+Dmitriy Aristov Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com
Thanks good video bro...
Be aware that the bottom bolt that holds the shock in place might end up breaking off!! Start asking dealerships for that before you even start the job!!
+Thomas Bergman Thanks for the feedback!
+Thomas Bergman Thanks for the feedback!
I think they forgot to replace the bushings Or did it in the wrong order I hear the sleeve move around when I drive. U think?
🔥👏 thank you
great vid, thanks
+barry connolly Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com
How do you know when your shocks are going bad
your tire will bounce ilke a basketball when you hit a pothole.
Very good video but the parts from 1A parts look like they made from plastic work fine 3 days after you need buy new shock quality on this shocks are terrible
Yeah, but their shocks have a lifetime warranty. I wonder how that works if/when a failure occurs.
They are charging me 400 at the dealership for this em I getting ripped off with No Vaseline ???
Where is that?? They quoted me 1200
Sonny Cho lmfao, me too and that’s for the front. They quoted me a cheaper price for the back. I mean I get the labor is intense but the mechanics labor isn’t so intense with the machine having the car lifted up to make a job easier. But I’d rather break my back to save me two average pay checks 😂
My Pep Boys tried to charge me $488 for parts and labor in my 2010 Altima. My struts at the auto parts store costs me $120 for my rear struts. About a 1 hour job if you trust someone to assist you.
Thats why they call them Stealerships!
Bro I just torqued to 66 and it strip the thread lmao. It’s a brand new toque wrench too. I did the other side to 56 lol
Only one mistake the big washer. You put it back wrong check the video again. The white washer, the last one on the top
What do you do if you break the nut
On top mount
cool
+katia raymond Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
In NH its a little tug on the shock bolt and... noooooo!!! the bushing is obliterated because its fused to the bolt. Road salt strikes again.
Same! Which bushing is this? What part # need to order asap.
@ 11:39, is that 20 in-lb or ft-lbs?
Never been a fan of new parts on old parts just get the whole asembly
Where can I get a set of these?
I have a 2013 3.5 sl altima, i want to replace the rear suspension springs also. Anyone know where i can find oem like springs?
+Brandon Reyes Thanks for watching! We do not carry the rear springs for this vehicle at this time. 1aauto.com
+Thomas Bergman Thanks for the tip!
Don't ever do both shocks at once without supporting the control arm lol I had a bad day at work today .... 😵💫
1:35 last one
Dude put the top bushing washer (silver metal) on backwards.
He put it back exactly the way it came off.
That last washer did go on backwards when assembling. You can go back when the factory unit was being taken apart to verify. Not sure if would even matter.
You put the top washer on upside down.
+Josh Titus Thanks for the feedback!
Could it be that easy???????
>:) thank you
+Mr. pewterschmidt Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
Hell why the hell Nissan using uncommon sockets for their car. No 16, 18 on most of the ratchet and wenches
Lol, "trash"
