I just bought into the M18 line the other day and my charger charges m12 too I was a DeWalt fanboy but I'm very impressed by Milwaukee

Same here. Mostly dewalt 20v tools but I just picked up a bunch of m12 tools on sale. I figured 12v is really a separate platform from 20v anyway (other than needing a separate charger). They are the brushed versions and have been excellent so far .

I went with speed. I use a ratchet to remove and install bolts. I have an air ratchet and it's only 160rpms, but any of these ratchets are faster than my hands.

Waiting for them to come out the "extended reach" high speed ratchet. You know they will LOL. And yeah, I haven't ever considered the dick measuring torque rating of an electric ratchet as a deal breaker. Now the speed on the other hand......

Thanks for the review. I'd take the higher rpm speed over torque values. Like you said, make use of the ratchet if needed to break loose the fastener, then speed er' out...and vice versa.

Nice unbiased review, I appreciate your insights on the true purpose of a ratchet👍🏽
I have the Gen 1: 3/8" brushed version it works well for my needs at this point. I try to keep up to date on Milwaukee's latest offerings but did not learn about this new Fuel high speed ratchet until this week.

I've found the 55 ftlbs fuel model (regular length) lets say doing some brakes, with caliper bolts, i'd rather take some regular ratchet, bust it loose, and then take that thing and it gets rid of working out crusty rusty bolts. Ofc impact is the best but yeah. I have the first brushed one, then the 3/8 fuel, love them both for different reasons, i think the high speed would be the go to though.

I've both M12- 2557-20, 2457-20 - I am extremely well pleased with both, now I am still on the fences with the new M12 high-speed ratchet not sure if will make a purchase. The overall speed increase is huge and head reduction is great. Only time will tell.

My main beef with it isn’t about the torque. I hand torque everything with my original fuel. My main issue is….I never use my original ratchets anymore. The extended reach is the best one. So they took a model that everyone asked for a longer one, then improved the speed on the one everyone wanted them to make longer….why….I’ll tell you why, cause milwaukee knows they have fan boys who’s buy every new tool they release. Now wait for a few mo the when they realize the extended reach high speed and your stuck with this little bubble ratchet that you have to try and fit your hand around that fat 4 times the size of a manual ratchet, into a tight place. That was the issue with the original ratchet and why everyone asked for a longer neck. On top of that. , they made the new direction change and flush mount and that’s my next biggest issue with the ratchets. I’ve had to stick it in some tight places and I’ve back a bold out and then the back of the ratchet gets backed into something, now good luck getting a small tool in there to run it back in to get your ratchet unstuck (hammer time) they should have left the battery level meter where it was and moved the directional change to the handle like the right angle impact. If I need speed, I’ll use my stubby. I do t need gimmicky half ass thought out tools ill wait for the extended high speed. 🤷‍♂️

14:22 through to 14:41 - what the hell is that insect doing the rounds of your shelving at moderate speeds??? :-D giant ant? small cockroach? something else? Good vid on the ratchets, will probably upgrade my fastish non-fuel to the fast fuel - the 3/8 fuel was never an option for me, just too big and bulky - new one ticks all the boxes. 1/4 and 3/8 in the mail soon :-)

How much manual loosing force can you put on the new Milwaukee 3/8? The original fuel 3/8 can stand a lot of abuse. My problem with original fuel is that it is slow, heavy, and head is big.

The only thing the torque might be good for is running dirty rusty bolts in and out. The ones that wanna be tight the whole way through. But at that point you might as well just use a regular ratchet or if it really bothers you but the 1/2 inch gen 1 for that extra 25 ft lbs. I’m so so happy I held off and didn’t buy the gen 1 because I’m definitely gonna be buying the gen 2

Interesting to see how it compares to Snappy’s newish CTR861 or if they will announce a 450Rpm ratchet at SFC. I really wish Snappy would put the toggle trigger (like the CT761 has) on a ratchet and do away with the need to use a a turn switch on the head.
