damn it's like I'm 4yearsold again.......I had to show this to my wife...she didn't believe Mike Meyers character was loosley based off an actual cartoon.
+L. Salisbury On Pinwheel they showed the original British version. I recall seeing the version with this narrator. I don't think I have ever seen a Captain Kangaroo narrated version.
Just as charming now that I'm 50 as it was back in the 70's. What a terrific memory!! Thank you for capturing this :)
With a lot of today's "cartoons," the stories take a back seat to the animation and commercials for toys.
OMG I REMEMBER THIS SHOW! I was like 3-4 years old when I watched it haha XD
our generation had the best kids programming, ever.
i LOVED this show...nostalgia rules! *sniff sniff*
i so miss these cartoons.I am an artist today and i still remember those youthful days of wishing i was Simon

Simon rules. Still catch myself singing this theme song when I'm at work or at the gym. LOL.
You know, I didn't think it at the time because of obvious reasons, but this sketch reminds me of Chalkzone. It's the same plot.
Childhood memories.
You lucky thing! I've been looking for a copy but Amazon only have the book at $999.00! Your VHS is precious.
Me too! I first watched "Simon" in my 1976 Kindergarten class and on Romper Room.
OMG I use to watch this shit on Black and White TV I love this show and the music to this i still sing to myself. This was what i waited to watch this on captain Kangaroo

Thanks so much for this posting.
I used to watch this show when it featured on Romper room.
Yes he did....but the SNL version was rather naughty, in the British phrase. It should be somewhere here on YT...
I use to love this!!!!
I loved this as a little girl. :')
Yep...I was right, this is still a great show.
This is the episode that I remember :D
Haha, I played the triangle when I was in primary school and now I sing and play the guitar :)
Ah yes. I remember this from my childhood. First from Captain Kangaroo & then early 80's w/Pinwheel.
yes, it was on Captain Kangaroo....I can't remember if he actualy narrated it but, it
was on it. I was happy when Pinwheel brought it back in the 80s.
Except it came 1st, and wasn't as.... stupid Simon is so simple, but charming. Chalk Zone just made me want to change the channel. .
This could sometimes be seen on Captain Kangaroo back in the 70's.
Had to post again thanks man
The cartoon reminded me of ChalkZone.
The Military drill at 2.30 is funny!!
wow what quality ty
Someone please build a time machine I want to go back!!!!
damn it's like I'm 4yearsold again.......I had to show this to my wife...she didn't believe Mike Meyers character was loosley based off an actual cartoon.
My childhood. 🥲🥲
love love it
In the USA Captain Kangaroo did the narration. Also, some British terms like "military drill" were replaced.
+L. Salisbury On Pinwheel they showed the original British version. I recall seeing the version with this narrator. I don't think I have ever seen a Captain Kangaroo narrated version.
Wonder who these morons are that thumb these things down?
yeah me too the last verse was iffy too
I think Pinwheel showed this, too.
Most of us know this song must be in our near 47 years old now
Romper Room aired it as well
Everyone!!! This is the origin of the SNL music jingle!!!! Remember it Please.
2:23 The sergeant became American...
I hear rumours that this is similar to Chalk Zone.
You mean Chalk Zone is similar. This was out way before Nickelodeon was created
which character is that?
Where are the Blue Meanies?
In the Yellow Submarine.
There isn't any sound.
I don't know why I hated Simon when I was young !! maybe I wasn't able to understand his language or thoughts.
yes, it was on Captain Kangaroo....I can't remember if he actualy narrated it but, it
was on it. I was happy when Pinwheel brought it back in the 80s.
