I'd forgotten how much this had been a part of my childhood...hard stares, elevenses, for emergencies and marmalade sandwiches! Tears of nostalgia here as well :)
Thanks! I still have the book somewhere in England of this episode...and loved to watch this after school. oh how I love the drawings as people. Paddington is soooo cute here with his black ears!
I almost forgotten about these cartoons. I love this thank you for taking me back to my childhood you know used to watch these with my own paddington bear he had red boots and the bottom of the boots I remember had paws.
Now THIS is Paddington. Gentle humour, charming animation and the avuncular tones of Michael Horden. Why do people insist on trying to change what is already perfect????
You're showing your age..this wouldn't hold up as a film anybody would want to see these days either at home or abroad. The characters are haughty, uptight and 40 years out of date. It's just fuzzy nostalgia talking.
joby h I'm 23 and I love it. I much preferred watching this than the other one - Americanlised, formulaic, patronising, dumb humour (with the exception of the little dog joke) ...get a good creative team together and a clear vision and this could definitely work. Only problem is, they wouldn't make nearly as much money, which is why I'm guessing they did what they did.
You mean people like Michael Bond? The author and his daughter were both consultants for the new movie. They said they were always on set to give their input and they both praised the film when they saw it at the premier. Maybe you should go see the movie, if only to find out if you agree with Michael Bond.
I remember watching a programme recently which confirmed that Jeremy Clarkson's mum designed and made the first Paddington toy, much to the author's delight ... and that Harrod's planned to sue her for breach of copyright! Michael Bond thanked her for "bringing Paddington to life"
I think that people tend to read Paddington Bear as an immigrant issue... I can see that. However, he was really about the kids that were evacuated during the war. Hence the tag asking for someone to take care of him.
Been spreading this all over the net. Micheal Bond who created Paddington made a Cameo Appearance in Paddington Movie. When Paddington was in the taxi looking out the window and raised his hat to return the hello to a gentleman in the restaurant. That Ladies and Gentleman is Micheal Bond.
plus I used to love the original tv series- as a kid was actually tripped out a bit by the drawings...yes seems like humans are cardboard and the animals are more real...says something for us doesn't it :-)
Loved this show as a kid. I`m still excited about the new movie coming out, I found the humour in it funny. I just hope that wasn't all the funny parts in the movie. Anyone want a marmalade sandwich?
Paddington Bear's Adventures is now available on iOS. If you haven't already seen it please take a look. It is the new official new app from Boiled Frog for pre-schoolers and is available on iTunes
I have the original 70s kids book somewhere of this episode- but I think its called Paddington takes a bath, and im sure in it he does put toothpaste on each of his ears- so maybe this is the abriged version? :-)
I remember back when “Who wants to be a millionaire?!” Was on my gf one day called me and asked,”where Paddington Bear from?” “Peru,” I immediately answered. From the other end of the phone I heard silence,”.......How did you know that?” “Oh his theme song! ‘He’s that bear from darkest Peru’. Why?” “That was the million dollar question.” “Did the person get it?” “No. You would have been a millionaire.”
I'm here because I'm crying my eyes out over my childhood being raped. I eat Marmalade BECAUSE of Paddington; I refuse to see this terrible new film with aweful CG slapstick. THIS here is paddington. nothing else.
The movie isn't that bad... It still has Paddington having the same characteristics and the CGI is better than Sharknado and there's a pretty good storyline. It is the new generation and kids seem to like that it looks like Paddington actually exists. ( but the original will always be the best)
I hate this old one this old fashion one it is shit it was horrible look at the graphics the graphics or the animation looks so off i saw the new version of paddington bear the movie in 2014 and it looks about 40 times better than this
Taylor Carter Well no shit! This was made in the mid 1970s and the stop motion was considered very good at the time. I personally like how well they did with stop motion.
@@thomascholowsky1236 And the way they married the 2D characters with a 3D puppet was complicated and revolutionary in 1975 and Michael Horderns narration is magical
I'd forgotten how much this had been a part of my childhood...hard stares, elevenses, for emergencies and marmalade sandwiches! Tears of nostalgia here as well :)
Absolutely superb...the original and best!
Thanks! I still have the book somewhere in England of this episode...and loved to watch this after school. oh how I love the drawings as people. Paddington is soooo cute here with his black ears!
Shorts like these were my first glimpse into the world of Paddington
I almost forgotten about these cartoons. I love this thank you for taking me back to my childhood you know used to watch these with my own paddington bear he had red boots and the bottom of the boots I remember had paws.
Oh this brings back great memories. Watched this so much as a kid.
Paddington looks so cute without his hat.
I remember watching these on Pinwheel when I was a kid! Thank u for posting!
I remember Pinwheel
Ah, Paddington, that deadpan comedian with the button eyes... Twas hilarious! x)
Now THIS is Paddington. Gentle humour, charming animation and the avuncular tones of Michael Horden. Why do people insist on trying to change what is already perfect????
Couldn't agree more with you!

Haven't seen the latest version but without bums on seats, these films can't be made.Shame it's dumb and formulaic though..

The Paddington figure in this video is SOO CUTE!! Especially when he wigggles his feet in the bathtub!! 😄😄
aww Paddington is so cute!
4:06 - His water-crying of "Hel-l-l-l-l-l-l-p!" always cracks me up :D
"Bang went our Tea by the sound of it!"
I don't really know why, but that made me laugh out loud! Maybe it's just the way he said it!
this programme fills my heart with joy :)
2:29 - Bear facepalm. Priceless.
I remember watching a programme recently which confirmed that Jeremy Clarkson's mum designed and made the first Paddington toy, much to the author's delight ... and that Harrod's planned to sue her for breach of copyright! Michael Bond thanked her for "bringing Paddington to life"
I loved these - I used to watch these in the USA on the Nickelodeon show, Pinwheel.
I grew up in the 2000s and my parents showed me these videos, not the newest cartoons. THIS is what I call childhood
I absolutely love his logic... it makes as much sense as anything else these days! And I really love the background violin solo...
This is the Paddington I remember
I'm tearing up too, this is my childhood!
"He has a rather worrying marmalade habit."
This is called quality tv . Nostalgia brought me here
I had that exact same toy since I was 3 when my mum bought it at Isetan.
I forgot how much I love this...
wonderful and sweet that bear
I remember watching this on Pinwheel.

Yay! I will look for that! Thank you
i miss the seventies it was a great childhood!
I remember watch Paddington Bear. I also remember get into a lot of trouble like him as a kid too. I still get into trouble but no one is perfect.
awww....i just love this!
Paddington Bear is Britain's best-loved illegal immigrant :-)
“Illegal alien” not immigrant.
Uhh, you may want to look at the face he’s giving you.
Lovely. Thankyou for uploading.
Wait, I think there's that line near the end - "It's what's known as a dry bath."
That line can never be topped (at least I don't think so).
I don’t remember where it is from, but there is a great rendition of the theme song.
“He’s that bear from darkest Peru 🇵🇪 .”
Gosh look, said judy, the ceiling just peed itself.

Matthew Wright I said it was _the_ shit. I didn't say it was shit.
No cursing!!! This is PG 13!!!
Much better than the new paddington.
Jason C the new Paddington is great but I like this one too.

The 87 people disliking this video, are pretty much disliking my childhood 😡
OMG so cute
tl;dr: incompetent bear in napoleon hat struggles to take a bath.

Get over yourself. As a guy who grew up with these shorts, the movies are fantastic.
mmmm....sticky cream, with a slight Peruvian flavour.
This looks so old it's probably from the 1990s I think
Ethan Twomey lol. I watched these when I was a kid. This Paddington episode was from 1974.

First screened BBC in January 1976

Where's his boots?
The boots are actually not in the original design, that's why he doesn't have them.

This is so obviously fake, don't even know how they thought they'd fool people!
Satire, defined.
Taylor Carter Well no shit! This was made in the mid 1970s and the stop motion was considered very good at the time. I personally like how well they did with stop motion.
it's not meant to fool people
