    Some really good points here. I tend to make comparisons with my reservoir trout experience, both are predators/omnivores after all. Yes, don't be in a hurry to change your lure- I caught 90% of my fish on just three lures. Yes, don't think that because bass are sea fish they're not cautious, after I spotted a good bass turn away that was the last time I stood on a boulder. Get wet instead. Yes, wear polaroids, not just to spot fish following but to reveal bottom features too. Yes, don't be put off too much by water clarity. I've caught bass when its down to a foot visibility, and salmon when you couldn't see your hand in the water. Yes, stop the lure. Deadly, for all fish. With trout I 'hang' the lure for up to ten seconds, I know the fish are watching it drop, and eventually they just can't help themselves. Another tactic I've taken from my trout fishing experience is just casting out your lure and leaving it- a floater, obviously. I've used a small floating rap and a spitting wire like this, and once you've had a fish smash it it gives you the confidence to do it more often. You can't catch fish in the air, and like this it's fishing all the time. I call it dry fly fishing😀

      Thanks for your comments. It’s always interesting to get input here on the channel from Game and course Anglers. In many ways us sea anglers are a bit behind. I’ve been reading falkus sea trout fishing and there are some superb insights in that book for sea lureing. It’s remind me to mend the line and get in the best position for drifting lures. Thanks again

    Hello great video, wouldn’t beat yourself up about the treble situation. Played around with singles and went back to trebles as the drag of the rear treble is crucial to get the action on some lures. Singles can pull through the inside of the fishes mouth and barbless trebles just anchor in. generally now days I take the middle treble off and crush the barbs down. Happy bassing!

    Another great vid, handy tips there. For me polorised glasses are really important they take so much glare out the water and you can really spot those fish especially if you are fishing from higher ground. Oh and thanks for the mention👍

    I can add one more tip:
    If you catch sea bass in specific place check this place every time when you came to fishing. In most cases you will find there another sea bass.
    Do you use jighead and grub too? This method work good in Israel

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  4 роки тому +2

      It would be interesting to try a lure from Israel. Yes its true here in the U.K usually more than one fish in a shoal. Bass swim in shoal size groups which is why large fish tend to be thought of solitary- they are not just less of them by the time they get big ! Thanks for the message

    Hiya mate I enjoyed that video but one of the things you brought up was getting wet to land or release your fish the is a simple solution a pair of waders of any kind also the comment about floro carbon I use 10lb which is fine in open water let's face it carp anglers really ever use anything heavier and they are fishing for 20lb+ fish in snaggy waters! And of course thanks for the shout out much appreciated mate 👍
    One more thing I've got a day porgy fishing in a couple of weeks I really hope one of those pesky blue fins don't get to the bait first!!! 😉😂🎣👍

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  4 роки тому

      Ha ha yes those pesky tuna.... Getting wet meant getting in the water-with waders/dry suit! Not jeans like I wore once lol. 10lb great but it's those jagged rocks have lost too many lures by being nicked or rolled over on a bigger fish.10 in clear water sounds great. Thanks again for another thoughtful comment

    Def rate first light fishing, as well as reacting to the right (as we may perceive it) conditions, wind in the right direction etc just grab rod and lures or bait and get out there its usually more productive. I'm also skeptical bout some flouros, ive got some in 9kg rating but it's far softer and thinner than what I'm used to, put some on a reel as a leader yesterday and will try it with a cpl cheaper lures to start.
