I love this ending for Gale. He was an arrogant but well-meaning wizard with ambitions set on godhood to cope with his broken heart and to regain the power and status that he once held in abundance, but both of those ambitions only lead him down paths of frustration and loneliness. He really loves magic and thought the only way to overcome his failure and redeem himself was to reach the highest high he could possibly imagine. His journey with the party allowed him to learn both humility and self-acceptance, no longer having to strive for something unreachable, nor basing his worth on Mystra’s approval of him. He’s able to realize that he doesn’t have to be a god to have worth. He just has to be Gale, and between Tara and the party, he has a family that accepts him for who he is. And in the end, even though he couldn’t breach the heavens, he could still find a way to put his talents to use by passing on his knowledge and wisdom to the next generation and helping them grow in their own skills, as well as live a life around the magic that he always held such a passion for. Well done, professor Dekarios.
Turns out giving Mystra the groomer "go explode yourself and I'll forgive you" the middle finger and letting Gale become a God was not actually his good ending. Who knew. :(
So I romanced Gale, convinced him to return the crown to Mystra, then went to Avernus. I got him as a professor without the orb at the party, still romanced. And after I talked to Withers and it all ended I got the cutscene where Gale IN HIS PROFESSOR CLOTHES tells my Tav that he's a god and so on...all without godGale special effects. Like, wtf.
I'm curious how Gale's classes for Illusion go. Is he by the books and lecturing like a present day university teacher? Or does this man use illusions to portray grand adventures and mystifying puzzles to challenge his students? Ambition isn't a bad thing. It's what we aspire for that makes and breaks us. I'm glad Gale had an ending where his ambitions rest with good life with good company.
@@Northalix I checked a couple of other videos and so far he always says Illusion. So either they all chose Illusion subclass which I find unlikely or he always says it. Still something to probably test.

Yeah people..Taras approval is more important than becoming a god. Glad thats official now.

He's canonically an illusion wizard? I never would have guessed.
So, I have been trying a couple of things to get this ending. He always refuses me and still becomes GodGale ;( How do I manage that?

Does the school he teaches change depending on the subclass you choose for him? Or is it allways illusion?
