The director of this movie is one of the Japanese comedians who has been rejected this project by all filmmakers except Netflix. He hasn't given up to create this movie. I love to give great applause to him and Netflix...
usually, I don’t watch Japanese movie. but THIS IS GOOD FILM. so in love with 70’s atmosphere. good actors, good script, everything was so good. it was the first time I cried and laughed at same time😂
Yagira Yuya does a superb job playing Kitano Takeshi in the movie. He is my favorite Japanese actor today. His unforgettable performance in Nobody Knows (誰も知らない) earned him the Best Actor Award from Cannes Festival at the age of 14, beating Tony Leung.
If you’ve watched Kitano Takeshi’s works and you so love them, you better watch this one. You could know this is how Takeshi Kitano grow up in his youth as in one direction. Actually he says this was good but it’s just movie blushed up, however in fact that period was more tough than this one.
I was surprised to see that Gekidan directed this movie. My first introduction to him was his appearance in Gaki no Tsukai. As for Beat Takeshi, well... it wasn't Takeshi's castle, but a wonderful movie titled Kikujiro.
Kitano didn't have that speaking-out-of-the-side-of-mouth quirk until after his motor accident. This is an impression of him now, not as he was in his youth.
Given that Gekidan Hitori was once dragged around by his foot by a car, slapped, hurt , thrown to the ceiling and many more for our entertainment, shows his dedication to his chosen craft, Thank god Netflix had the balls to help him put this movie out while others refused , and look at what it had become. A movie directed and written by a Comedian that produces tears in our eyes. It's a Masterpiece! Great Actors, nicely phased script , and Touches important aspect's of Beat's Journey while also Showcasing what hardship Early Comedian's had to do specially those without Mentors. It's amazing that Takeshi Kitano's work has really High contrast, originated as a Comedian and developed an Aura that could kill, and Directing skills. I Think it's only fitting that this story was directed and written by Gekidan Hitori, even though his aura will not kill you, but make you soil your pants laughing.

Looks too wholesome for Takeshi. I hope it’s ‘good’.
This was a great movie and Gekidan Hitori paid his Scorsese Goodfellas homage with his single shot final scene through the France-Za. 👍
Haven’t watched this yet but I think I’ll like this
Good old Japanese culture
ART!
enojyed this though would have prefered it to be a series like Jimmy as we would have seen more, rather than having to jump around.

His habit of distorting his mouth had existed before the accident.
