    Yzerman had a lot of work to do when he took over. There was limited cap space, bad contracts, and minimal prospect pool from the last days of Ken Holland.

    Buchelnikov would be higher if it weren't for the KHL concerns and lack of access.

    Glad to see Buium getting some more love in Red Wings Nation. I think people have been sleeping on him because he didn't play a huge role in Denver the first year they won the championship in '22 and he was over shadowed by his brother when they won this year.
    But he was a big factor this year.
    When I've seen him play, he plays a very controlled game with good gap control and picks his spots to join a rush.
    I've had him behind Ed as our best D prospect, and now I only have him 3rd behind Ed and ASP.

    I think that Amadeus Lombardi would have made the top 10 as a prospect for most other NHL teams.

    • @Bravelittletoaster1914

      Perhaps, but he only scored 5 goals this season. Which is fine, it was expected that he'd take a step back and start on the lower end of the roster in his jump to the AHL.
      Next season will really be a good indication if he can find his scoring touch in the pros or not.

    I understand the impatience of those who wanted Yzerman to sign fewer free agents last summer and bring up more of these prospects. But to build a solid team that can contend for the Cup for many years, you need a great prospect pool and a great NHL roster simultaneously.
    I expect more of these prospects to become Red Wings over the next few years, though not as quickly as some fans would like, but I expect them to not promote existing prospects out of this prospect pool any faster than new prospects can be drafted or otherwise a aquired to refill it. Only when we reach the point of seriously contending for the Cup should we start emptying the prospect pool, through trades in hope of getting that last piece to push us over the top.

    Yzerman is building superior team with loads of back-end support. He took over a dumpster fire in terms of talent. But he took on a recovering Patrick Kane that was let go by the current playoff team NYR.. The dude is brilliant!

    The first 3 players should be on the Roster I don’t care if a player like Bergs or Veleno gets traded for them but they are not going anywhere unless they get time to learn to play in the NHL and two players who need a big contract should be a no brainer, not going to the playoffs with less than we have last season so get them on the roster and quit with the FA players who are not good enough.

    The list seems pretty sound to me. It seems that every time there's a top list of anything, fans flock to it to respond or quote tweet it with their own reasons why they're wrong. It's almost as if some folks don't understand that "top" *anything* lists are entirely and completely subjective. As a Wings fan, I love the recognition... but at the end of the day, we don't know how these kids are actually gonna pan out (except Edvinsson, who looked good during the final month in Detroit).

      Ed surpassed my expectations when playing with the wings this year, I think Danielson and Kasper will do the same. All of our prospects seem like they are being forced to focus on the process and not the results and that mindset is producing results.

    It's close, but the Sabres prospects are better, IMO. As an example, Mckeen's has Kasper and Kulich as the #3 prospects respectively. Same age, same level, same position.
    Kasper: 71gp, 14g, 21a, 35p = .49 pts/g
    Kulich: 57gp, 27g, 18a, 45p = .79 pts/g
    If you want to say Kasper was in his rookie year and Kulich wasn't, I'd point out that Kulich put up even more points as an 18y old rookie.
    Comparable WHL prospects, Savioe vs Danielson:
    Danielson: 54gp, 24g, 43a, 67p = 1.24 pts/g
    Savoie in his D+1 year: 62gp, 38g, 57a, 95p = 1.53 pts/g
    Edvinson is a great prospect, but so is Levi.
    I think the depths are comparable, but the Sabres are better at the top.

    • @swen1208
      @swen1208 25 днів тому

      is Kulich and Savioe 2-Way players because Kasper and Danielson are two way players so yea their points will be slightly lower but their involved on both sides of the ice.

    • @broonton
      @broonton 25 днів тому

      @@swen1208 Kulich definitely needed to work on that in his rookie year but has been much better this year. I wouldn't call it a strength at this point. Savoie is an excellent 2 way player IMO

    • @europason2293
      @europason2293 25 днів тому

      I like Savoie and would have preferred Detroit draft him over Kasper, but comparing him to Danielson is just a bit unfair considering he played for far better WHL teams between Winnipeg and Moose Jaw. I also don't think Savoie will center in the NHL, which is probably why Detroit opted for Kasper instead.

    • @camh9800
      @camh9800 25 днів тому +1

      the kasper and kulich comparison makes sense but the Danielson and Savoie ones do not. Comparing point production for players the wings drafted to be two way centers is also a little confusing. Only thing we can really do is wait and see how all these players perform in the NHL. Kind of mind blowing that the wings surpassed the sabres while consistently getting shafted in the draft lottery.

      @@broontonthat's why your metrics are biased man both Kasper and Danielson are monsters in all 3 zones with those profiles it can take more time than the others to reach their full offensive potential and usually they score less by the way even more so in their youngest years

    Let Detroit enjoy this! Detroit never drafted higher than 4th in the draft, they never got a top 3 pick. Cossa and Augustine really boosted Detroit to #1. To me, Axel Sandin Pellikka is Detroit's #1 prospect. His ceiling is higher than Edvidsson.

    • @patbankowski

    I'm confused why Albert Johanson is not on this list. He is closer to making the red wings roster than wallinder.

    • @europason2293
      @europason2293 25 днів тому +3

      Wallinder has higher upside if he hits his ceiling. Johansson will be a great, steady third pairing D, but I think Wallinder has top four upside given his size and skating.

      @BradEdwards-jn4kk 25 днів тому

      @europason2293 I do not disagree. Just surprised he's not on the list lol. Although I can't make an argument for who should be bummed out of the top 10 for him to be there. So maybe it should have just been a video about the top 11

    • @europason2293
      @europason2293 25 днів тому +1

      @@BradEdwards-jn4kk It's a sign of good things to come when there are a handful of other prospects that we can argue about whether they belong in the top 10 or not. Wings may be a little lacking in high-end "elite" talent, but they're deep at every position, more so than pretty much any other team in the league.

    As a Red Wings fan I keep seeing this prospect ranking...... but I am wholly not agreeing with it.
    NO top/great/game breaking scoring wingers. Plus almost no success after the first round except maybe Carter Mazur who projects as a journeyman, not a game breaker. Gibson and Augustine maybe something there but they are not offense.
    Speaking of goalies are seemingly on course for a noticeable development
