  • A track from Dave Antrell, aka David Harrison Antrobus, an elusive and very talented musician and medical student who was gigging and mixing it up with the LA music scene in the late 60s. He was a legendary and peerless crate digger, collector and hustler of rare 45s including copies of Kenny and the Cadets , which were actually early recordings of Brian Wilson. Various memoirs of Andrell recall that he practically gave away copies of extremely rare records to his fellow collector friends.
He cut one excellent self-titled album on the small indie Amaret label in 1970 which features original compositions backed by the epic Wrecking Crew. Most of these are up already.
This track is pulled from Antrell's sessions with Gary Paxton and recorded between 1967-69, while he was still a med student and included/released on an anthology from Ace Records named for Antrell’s song, Happy Lovin’ Time: Sunshine Pop from the Garpax (Gary Paxton) Vaults.

Sunshine pop with some cool phasing. .

    From: California, United States
Dave “Doc” Antrell was a record collector, medical doctor and a musician, once claiming his doo-wop music collection was the second largest in the world. Antell signed with the small Amaret label in Hollywood, releasing his first three singles and his lone self-titled LP. He wound up starting his own label, Antrelly Records where he recorded several vocal harmony singles, one being the 5 Arcades. Antrell’s final single was released in 1973 on the Interfusion label.
In the late 80s Antrell recorded Arthur Lee Maye singing ‘Moonlight.’ This led to him joining forces with Bruce Patch of Classic Artists Records, where the two recorded a number of R&B artists. Most of the songs recorded were written by Antrell, who often played piano, sang background vocals and financed the recordings. He has contributed many of his singles from his collection to various reissue projects.
Sadly, Dave Antrell lost his life February 23, 1995 at the age of 46 as a result of liver failure near Valencia, California.

Dave Antrell recorded this as a demo when he was a senior in high school in Pittsburg, California. That's Jerry Scheff (Elvis Presley/Doors) on bass guitar and Pete Fountain on clarinet.

This is really nice. Sounds like great sunshine pop. I released a few new songs over the past few weeks. My latest is Friends Forever written for a friend who has been going through rough times. My vocals are a little Donavan like in this one. You might really like the song. I love your channel,

@@Eileenjennifer69 I am currently writing a new song. Totally stoner and beautiful at the same time called Illluminated Mushroom Fields. It might be a few weeks but I'll let you know when it's up. The song is about an astral trip.
