Even as a die hard PC Gamer, I just can't bring myself to ever own a Windows-based handheld, no matter if how powerful they become. I just think the experience isn't good enough to justify the benefits (I have even switched to Linux on my main PC). My biggest gripe with the Ally is that most of the games I play, are backlog games, emulation, 2D and indie- games.... Not the latest AAA-games. And in those scenarios the Steam Deck still has equal or better battery at the same performance, without the headache of using Windows. Not to mention that a lot of legacy games tend to work out of the box in Linux although many require workarounds in Windows these days. With that being said, I'm happy that the Ally X exist. Because I can definitely see scenarios where it is advantageous. Currently I'm playing Super Mario Sunshine (at 60fps with widescreen), A Night in the Woods, Vanquish and Wargroove. All of them run beautifully on the Steam Deck LCD with 5h+ of battery life.
Did you guys have any issues with the vibration? Seems like tons are having motor issues and vibration thats ongoing while triggering it in games like Destiny 2.
22:48 Every now and then I hear the sultry cries of seagulls on your channel. I don't know which one of you provides this ear-candy, but I absolutely love it. Takes me right back to waking up to seagulls in the mornings during childhood holidays to Cornwall! 😂❤
@@128kbpodcast Ah man, I envy your location! Cornwall is an absolute beauty 😍 especially in this weather we're currently going through! Keep those seagull cries coming buddy 😂👌🏻
I received my Asus Ally X with a defective left trigger button. Returned it Monday at my local Best Buy. Getting a new one tomorrow. Let’s pray it works!
I’ve played Texas Chainsaw and Fortnite. Great experience. So far installing Epic Games was straightforward. I used Windows Store. Took a while but Epic Store showed up in Armory Crate automatically.
Yeah, I just hope Microsoft stick to to consoles and consoles with disc players. I mean I love playing old 360 games on my series x and I don't wanna pay £40 for a 15 year old game.
Yooo that same thing happened to me lol. I got my X on Tuesday and immediately followed your video to switch the SSD. I also broke the battery connector b/c I couldn’t get it back on. Took it to Best Buy and they told me it MAY count as tampering so I would have to pay out of pocket to fix it. But I just got an alert saying the device is heading back to Best Buy so I assume it’s fixed and my insurance covered it. Impatiently waiting for it to get back
Oh dude. Noooo. That’s savage. Our channel member who had this heard back about his RMA today. They’re giving him a 50% refund as they found the tampering. Savage. Hope yours goes better.
I hope that the XBOX continues as the Hardware is great in my opinion, but the marketing drive has been poor, and the although they are very clean design, they don't get people talking. Playstation has that name for itself now so strong that I think it is on the verge of becoming a genericide, almost like a 'hoover'. I have a feeling that if XBOX stop the hardware then they could offer licensing for other companies to make 'xbox' media centres, similar to how Valve was going to do it. I just want a subsidsed XBOX handheld dammit! heh
I wonder if something else causing this is the longer development times for 4K high demand games… Developers for Nintendo games are able to pump out more titles quicker hence the library, as we had back on the Xbox 360… but now titles are few and far between so less incentive to buy new consoles & better for Microsoft if everyone has subscriptions…
I just got robocop in the sale..... I think Microsoft will give it one more try with a console but during that time they will do all they can to get gamepass everywhere
@@128kbpodcast i will certainly give it a try, i was playing FF7 remake but all the added extra content and side quests have kinda burnt me out so i needed something else to play 😅

@@128kbpodcast I just completed it, not a wow game but not awful sure it has flaws, but it was decent enough to carry on playing and finishing, so glad I didn't pay full price for it though as I wouldn't say it's worth full price. The bullet sponge is real though 😅
Most Xbox gamers have already moved to PC. That's why so many people are pushing PC gaming these days. That's also why you hear so many people pushing the narritive that console is going away, because their preferred console IS going away, and at this point Microsoft would actually prefer that. Not going to happen though. The 2 biggest platforms in gaming aren't just going to give up their platforms. All that's changing is the big 3 will be PlayStation, Nintendo, and PC. Not everyone wants the added hassle that comes with PC gaming. Any true PC gamer out there knows what I'm talking about
I'm not sure if you watched the video Brian? But we talk about this in detail. The next console being talked about. BUT we're saying that their focus is moving away from Hardware.
If Microsoft focused on developing a handheld-optimised Xbox OS for the 3rd party hardware manufacturers to use, I wouldn't mind if they did decide to go full SEGA and only develop games going forward - software is their bread and butter, after all
Advanced congratulations on reaching 2k, guys! (That now probably constitutes popular demand?!)
Hahaha thanks dude. But then… I’d have to change my catchphrase 🤣
Let’s start a petition for opening a voice message thing where viewers can say ask something in the podcast
OOOOOOH. I actually love this idea!

I completely agree with you dude. Especially with the types of games you’re playing. You’re going to get loads more mileage out of the Steam Deck.
