Bring Back 1 Vs. 100! Having a live game show on the X360 was one of the greatest moves Microsoft ever did in their history. Me and my friends always jumped online whenever they were doing a live game seeing if one of us could get picked to be a contestant to win Microsoft points. Had an absolute blast playing that. My friends still bring it up to this day.
This is kind of like the "99" games on Nintendo Switch, just without the achievements! ^^ It got Tetris 99, F-Zero 99, had Pacman 99 and "Mario 35" in the past, and a couple more I don'T know about off the top of my head! =D
If you've ever downloaded a delisted full game or delisted trial game in the past, you can go into your past downloads on the 360 and download them again. I just did that for Outrun, After Burner, and Double Dragon! Even though they are trials, it's cool to play them in person and see what they are like for myself. Thanks and great video!

hexic HD was the first game I ever played on 360 at my cousin's and when I saw an achievement unlock my brain exploded. the rest is history and I loved every second I had with my 360, and with no red ring at that!
I noticed this when going through my physical game collection to see what DLC to buy. Grabbed both the Crackdown games even though I already own them physically, just in case my discs ever stop working.

A somber episode. Realizing that the 360 store is going away just rings true one clear message. Physical media is the future and the past. A mixture of digital and physical should always be an option for the consumer. Don't get rid of your collections, you'll most likely regret it one day. Physical media is so valuable since you can always keep it. I will miss the old days, but I also welcome what's to come. Here is to the future my friends.
Since Microsoft is removing the store, I hope they don't mind the community creating a store of their own. However I feel that whatever server that gets created for the console would require that your console be softmodded.
What a beautiful trip down memory lane. You have no idea just how close the journey through the games and library matched up to my own, I remembered almost everything here and purchased many of the games after trying the demo on ‘Xbox live arcade Wednesday’s’. The only thing I felt you could have mentioned additionally, that you touched on, was when they broke their rule about the 50mb limit of games, so that portal could be put on the system as a live arcade game. At least that’s how I remember it happening. Thoroughly enjoyed this video all the way through, thank you for putting so much effort into making it so great. All the best.
For some of us the closing of the store hurts because an era is officially gone. It goes beyond gaming too. I had friends who aren’t around anymore that were there in the golden age of the 360. Family members are gone, I’m all grown up now, the days of being a kid have passed and it stings a little. We are thankful for the times we had but sad that we will never get that experience again

It's weird. I tried to buy Renegade OPS and Vanquish DLC but couldn't purchase them before. Only in recent months did I actually managed to buy and download them. I don't know what change to make things suddenly work again but that is a sign that this is the best and final time to buy what you can without any error codes.
I don't see why Microsoft didn't wait until the 360s 20th anniversary to shut the store down, they could've made it an event of sorts to give the store a proper send off.
I never actually owned an Xbox of my own until getting a great deal on a One X in late 2017. My cousins had the OG Xbox and the 360, so I played a lot of them there. I was always extremely interested in the indie XBLA scene, and really excited to get a lot of this stuff backwards compatible on One X (and now Series X) when I got one. Especially Guardian Heroes HD, since I lost all my Saturn games long ago. The conversion work done on those Treasure games was incredible. I wish I had Bangaio too :( and I wish the same team could have done Silhouette Mirage, to translate the true Saturn version since all we ever got was the Working Designs PS1 version. I really think what 360 did for digital gaming and indie games is undersung. Even during the the One generation, they were still really pushing that part of their brand with stuff like Inside, Ori, Cuphead, Below etc, and a lot of cool stuff still comes my way on Game Pass to this day.
Great video. Contra was the first game I downloaded for my 360 also. It's pretty clear we have very similar tastes! Such a shame that some of these have been delisted and won't be available again.
I adore HEAVY WEAPON. It may have been my very first Xbox Live purchase. I had always wished that PopCap made a sequel or two or three. I came back for a game in War Party or Boss Rush mode for years to come, even as recent as 2023.

As much as I hate seeing storefronts close down, I love these look back videos. Especially since I was a late comer to both the 360 and getting my consoles online in general. That always made me glad when digital games got disc releases, and the 360 Arcade fared much better on that front than Wii or even PS3. And now, a lot more of the 360 Arcade will survive officially thanks to these discs.
[Try4ce] I didn't get a 360 until after the Xbox One was already out, despite having come close to buying one at launch and several other times until I settled on a PS3 for my HD console in 2008. So my digital 360 library is only maybe like 10 games, if that. We talked about having me do a little segment, but it would've been such a small part, we decided it felt more cohesive if it was just Coury's story to tell. I do really enjoy the 360 though despite "missing" it in its own era! The physical games are fun to collect thanks to how cheap they are, and it's interesting to grab a variety of backwards compatible and non backwards compatible games, as well as games I originally played on PS3 but are better on 360 (and likely even more so on Series X).

Highly recommend upgrading your Xbox360 controller to the newest version of the controller with the rising DPad if you haven't. Much better than any other iteration of the controller.
Just finishing this video as the clock rolls past midnight on July 29th, sitting next to my 360 while it downloads the last few purchases I've made from the store for the last time. There were a few in this video like Marathon Durandal that I didn't have that I didn't know were on the 360, I remember playing Marathon 2 on an iMac like 20-something years ago in primary school and thought it was really cool. It's sad to see the 360 store go, but from what I've heard Microsoft will still allow downloads and patches to be installed for the foreseeable future, only the purchase functionality will be turned off. It's a shame but it's the best outcome of a store closure. They're handling it a lot better than Nintendo have with the Wii, Wii U and 3DS, where you can't even download your purchased content again if you need to format or switch to a new system.

Xbox Live really felt so new and awesome back then. It's sad how badly online gaming has regressed all to prevent "toxicity" or whatever. Packing in a cheap headset and the majority of games having open mic in lobbies and during matches, with everyone hanging out and nonstop talking is just way more engaging than today's formats where you're lucky if a game even lets you talk to strangers. If only gaming journalists would've just used the mute button or took a break, rather than writing endless articles or literally calling local news stations...
@@gamecubeplayer Lol I actually remember getting a DS Lite playing Mario Kart DS online and thinking it just felt lifeless, since you couldn't even really interact with anyone. Really though, I think Microsoft had the right kind of idea, with the "Underground", "Family" and whatever gamertag matchmaking selections you picked. If they just let people opt in and paired people correctly they could probably make most people pretty happy... Unfortunately I don't think it was used that much and kind of a secondary feature or something.
when Dust:AET was first released on 360 i was skeptical about it... but then i saw that Pro Skater HD was releasing around the same time as it. Pro Skater HD in hindsight was a bit mid imo but i fell in love with Dust: An Elysian Tail almost immediately after watching a review of it over 12 years ago (wow)
I would've liked to buy more titles from the Arcade, but more often than not they were cheaper elsewhere, and that's before your money was devalued in the conversion to Microsoft points. I do wish I would've bought X-Men before it was delisted, though.
I enjoyed the Xbox 360 until it RROD'd on me.... Twice. It was the day that I bought Track & Field HD, and my brother was on his way over to play it. We used to play T&F a lot on the NES in the late 80s. It was so disappointing to have it happen a second time, and when we were just about to play a classic game. After that I just gave up on the entire 360, and stuck with then PS3, and haven't gone back to a Microsoft since, but I still do love the original Xbox, and play that often. Hopefully we'll get a PSN version like this someday. Hopefully the PS3/Vita stores don't close anytime soon (this won't age well, I know) ;) Oh! And Bomberman Ultra! was so great to play online. My brother and another good friend would all get together on PSN, each Friday, and play all night, while talking to each other. Fun times! -Matt

Thanks, I think I spent like $35 (games that are under $3) during this video. I am like I wanted to play this one.... 360 store is still open as of now.... When I was collecting Games for Gold, I also had links to other countries and check then every month. Licensing issues mean a game sold/given away in the US could not be given away in some other countries, so they would substitute another game. I have like 5-10 other games from Games with Gold that were not given away in the US....

Yeah except Doritos Crash Course 2 isn't even playable these days and wasn't available for that long before it got delisted. At least you can still play the first game. You can even buy the DLC for extra levels if you wanted too. On another note Doritos Dash of Destruction also got delisted many years ago. On the upside it was always free so you probably still acquire it if you look hard enough.

I fact I own marvel Vs capcom 2 on Xbox 360 and it won't play on my series X or Xbox one before it really upset me, doesn't even show up on my download list unless I'm on a 360 console. The amount of people who would be still playing it to this day is unreal it's a classic

Do we have to bring a 360 itself online to get at the storefront for DLC and such? Or, can it all be done on PC?

Had an original model 360 refurbished from GameStop since 2011 and it still works 😂
I had the Slim since 2012...still no red ring. I still play a lot of Rock Band on it

Xbox is considered the spiritual successor to the Sega Dreamcast. Much like SEGA, Microsoft will become third party outside PC.

Especially Guardian Heroes HD, since I lost all my Saturn games long ago. The conversion work done on those Treasure games was incredible. I wish I had Bangaio too :( and I wish the same team could have done Silhouette Mirage, to translate the true Saturn version since all we ever got was the Working Designs PS1 version.
I really think what 360 did for digital gaming and indie games is undersung. Even during the the One generation, they were still really pushing that part of their brand with stuff like Inside, Ori, Cuphead, Below etc, and a lot of cool stuff still comes my way on Game Pass to this day.

Great video. Contra was the first game I downloaded for my 360 also. It's pretty clear we have very similar tastes! Such a shame that some of these have been delisted and won't be available again.
I adore HEAVY WEAPON. It may have been my very first Xbox Live purchase. I had always wished that PopCap made a sequel or two or three. I came back for a game in War Party or Boss Rush mode for years to come, even as recent as 2023.

As much as I hate seeing storefronts close down, I love these look back videos. Especially since I was a late comer to both the 360 and getting my consoles online in general. That always made me glad when digital games got disc releases, and the 360 Arcade fared much better on that front than Wii or even PS3. And now, a lot more of the 360 Arcade will survive officially thanks to these discs.

Awesome Tribute Coury! I was assuming Try would be in this one but, still great none the less! The 360 is in my top 3 consoles of all time...
[Try4ce] I didn't get a 360 until after the Xbox One was already out, despite having come close to buying one at launch and several other times until I settled on a PS3 for my HD console in 2008. So my digital 360 library is only maybe like 10 games, if that. We talked about having me do a little segment, but it would've been such a small part, we decided it felt more cohesive if it was just Coury's story to tell. I do really enjoy the 360 though despite "missing" it in its own era! The physical games are fun to collect thanks to how cheap they are, and it's interesting to grab a variety of backwards compatible and non backwards compatible games, as well as games I originally played on PS3 but are better on 360 (and likely even more so on Series X).

Highly recommend upgrading your Xbox360 controller to the newest version of the controller with the rising DPad if you haven't. Much better than any other iteration of the controller.
Just finishing this video as the clock rolls past midnight on July 29th, sitting next to my 360 while it downloads the last few purchases I've made from the store for the last time. There were a few in this video like Marathon Durandal that I didn't have that I didn't know were on the 360, I remember playing Marathon 2 on an iMac like 20-something years ago in primary school and thought it was really cool.
It's sad to see the 360 store go, but from what I've heard Microsoft will still allow downloads and patches to be installed for the foreseeable future, only the purchase functionality will be turned off. It's a shame but it's the best outcome of a store closure. They're handling it a lot better than Nintendo have with the Wii, Wii U and 3DS, where you can't even download your purchased content again if you need to format or switch to a new system.

Xbox Live really felt so new and awesome back then. It's sad how badly online gaming has regressed all to prevent "toxicity" or whatever. Packing in a cheap headset and the majority of games having open mic in lobbies and during matches, with everyone hanging out and nonstop talking is just way more engaging than today's formats where you're lucky if a game even lets you talk to strangers.
If only gaming journalists would've just used the mute button or took a break, rather than writing endless articles or literally calling local news stations...

Really though, I think Microsoft had the right kind of idea, with the "Underground", "Family" and whatever gamertag matchmaking selections you picked. If they just let people opt in and paired people correctly they could probably make most people pretty happy... Unfortunately I don't think it was used that much and kind of a secondary feature or something.

when Dust:AET was first released on 360 i was skeptical about it... but then i saw that Pro Skater HD was releasing around the same time as it.
Pro Skater HD in hindsight was a bit mid imo but i fell in love with Dust: An Elysian Tail almost immediately after watching a review of it over 12 years ago (wow)
I would've liked to buy more titles from the Arcade, but more often than not they were cheaper elsewhere, and that's before your money was devalued in the conversion to Microsoft points.
I do wish I would've bought X-Men before it was delisted, though.

I enjoyed the Xbox 360 until it RROD'd on me.... Twice. It was the day that I bought Track & Field HD, and my brother was on his way over to play it. We used to play T&F a lot on the NES in the late 80s. It was so disappointing to have it happen a second time, and when we were just about to play a classic game. After that I just gave up on the entire 360, and stuck with then PS3, and haven't gone back to a Microsoft since, but I still do love the original Xbox, and play that often.
Hopefully we'll get a PSN version like this someday. Hopefully the PS3/Vita stores don't close anytime soon (this won't age well, I know) ;) Oh! And Bomberman Ultra! was so great to play online. My brother and another good friend would all get together on PSN, each Friday, and play all night, while talking to each other. Fun times! -Matt

Man Turtles in Time Reshelled was such a colossal disappointment. I didn’t even try the demo, I just bought it since the SNES port is an all timer for me. Lesson learned!

When I was collecting Games for Gold, I also had links to other countries and check then every month. Licensing issues mean a game sold/given away in the US could not be given away in some other countries, so they would substitute another game. I have like 5-10 other games from Games with Gold that were not given away in the US....
The 360 store sale is supposed to be updated today.
I haven't noticed yet.

Yeah except Doritos Crash Course 2 isn't even playable these days and wasn't available for that long before it got delisted. At least you can still play the first game. You can even buy the DLC for extra levels if you wanted too.
On another note Doritos Dash of Destruction also got delisted many years ago. On the upside it was always free so you probably still acquire it if you look hard enough.

I fact I own marvel Vs capcom 2 on Xbox 360 and it won't play on my series X or Xbox one before it really upset me, doesn't even show up on my download list unless I'm on a 360 console. The amount of people who would be still playing it to this day is unreal it's a classic

You (Coury) mentioned on a recent stream that you picked up one of those "legit looking" Chinese controllers on Ebay, which are a pretty good price (but almost definitely not OEM). Any chance you put some work in on that controller during your game capture for this video? Would love some feedback. I'm pretty much ready to buy since these are new and most used OEM on the market are pretty nasty.
