I don’t know whether or not anyone else has mentioned this but the eye on Umbridge’s door is Mad Eye Moody’s. She keeps it as a trophy. Another reason to hate her.
Dumbledore so clever knowing how much they needed each other and new what each of them would need. I love the line in the book from Ron and Harrys response. "He must have known I'd want to leave you" "No, he must have known you would always want to come back".
Absolutely one of the best parts! I have a hard time with the deathly hallows film adaptations and how they changed important things that matter, but this was excellent.
Just a heads up, the movies don't tell you but when the death eater's take over the ministry they make Voldemort's name taboo. A spell so that anyone who says it out loud can be tracked instantly. It's how they found Harry when they left the wedding, it also pops enchantments so even if you are hidden they can find you. Ron overhears this when they're getting the locket from the ministry and tells Harry and Hermione, that's is why Harry stops saying his name.
Correction. Ron hears about the taboo when he had left Harry and Hermione. When they had left the minestry he asked them to not say the name because he felt it was a jinx or something. When he returns to them he tells them about the taboo
Yea what’s weird is that I could have sworn that scene was just in this movie by default…. I distinctly remember Ron stopping them from saying his name and explaining that he heard someone at the ministry say his name was cursed, though idk maybe I just been seeing a version that included the deleted scenes
@@VJP8464 - it was probably there. These reaction videos are edited to show us their reaction if they don’t catch that something is significant it gets left out/ not reacted to.
Snape’s mother was Ilene Prince. She married a muggle named Tobias Snape. Hence Professor Snape is the Half-Blood Prince because he is half muggle/half wizard and a Prince on his mother’s side.
@@gatroy13 Are you okay there? I can't stand spoilers as much as the next person but some people prefer watching films and don't ever read the books. Also, this explains the name reasoning for the last film. so it's not a spoiler for the films at all. I am primarily a film person but I will admit they never explained the title's meaning. I literally watched the films in theaters and never knew why he specifically was considered the Half-Blood Prince until seeing this comment just now. I've only read the 1st 3 or so books? I think I started the 4th but it's been so long I don't remember where I left off. Again, some people just aren't readers and want explanations provided for them. Reactors typically will watch the films first so they get a genuine 1st reaction. I'm sure he'll still enjoy the books if he ever reads them going into it only knowing that one piece of knowledge. It's not like he spoiled the entire ending of the series before they finished reacting/ maybe reading it.
FYI: Maggie Smith, the actress that played Professor McGonagall battled Breast Cancer during the filming of the Half Blood Prince in 2007. Despite undergoing chemotherapy treatments, she continued to work on the film. She is an amazing actress.
@@darajeeling I saw a thing saying that he tried to stretch out what he said as much as possible because he didn't have many scenes in the film XD Mouth issues are the literal worst. If he really did have that, I hope it wasn't too painful.
@@deadsetondreams1988 - Funfact: When casting for the Czech dub of Snape, the dubbing director told the actor who would eventually dub Snape, "Snape must speak in Czech as if he had a golf ball in his hand and was trying to pulverize it with his speech." When the chosen actor arrived at the set, he had a ball ready in the dubbing booth. And he said he actually squeezed it vigorously during the dubbing of the first film to help him with proper Snape diction. Thus, Snape is dubbed very well in Czech as well, though of course Alan Rickman's original voice is superior.
One thing the movie fails to explain is that the name “Voldemort”, if spoken, has it’s own trace on it. That’s how the death eaters found them in London.
If I remember correctly, they watered down what happened to Wormtail here (Rat Face). In the book he has a slight moment of hesitation in harming Harry and therefore is forced to strangle himself to death with the silver hand Voldemort gave him.
I don't know if it's explained in the movie, but Harry became Sirius's inheritor, so when he died, Kreacher became his house elf. Harry didn't like Kreacher or want a house elf, but for the time being, Harry decided to use the fact that Kreacher had to obey him to help him find the locket.
And after they got Kreacher's story, Harry gave Kreacher Regulas' locket to keep. Then Kreacher served all three of them happier with delicious hot meals and a clean house.
I know it's frustrating how Dumbledore never is really straight with Harry but keep it in your mind that in these last books/movies Dumbledore is Fully aware that Harry and Voldemort have access to each other's thoughts to a degree. He could only say so much straight up.
You can actually visit Dobby's grave. There is a memorial there at a place called Fresh Water Beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales where the scene was filmed. In the beginning, people were leaving socks but so many socks began to impact the natural ecology of the beach. The local mayor had to pass an ordinance to stop it. Visitors now leave flowers or small stones or pebbles.
@@LSG101097 whats scary? Everyone makes a big deal out of this when its one the seemingly harmless, cute things a fandom can do. The Harry Potter fandom is shockingly sweet overall considering how big it is.
In the first film, when the Golden Trio are in the Great Hall, you'll hear Ron reading his cards aloud to Harry and Hermione. The thief from Harry's vision was Gillert Grindlewald, and Ron said Dumbledore defeated him in 1945 and that's how he came in possession of the Elder Wand
That was I believe in an extended scene for the first movie because that’s before they go to the library and read about the philosopher/ sorcerers stone. Neville in that scene was hit with a leg locking curse from Draco
One of the worse things about the movie--differing from the books--is that you don't get to see Dudley's real reaction and feelings with this ending. Dudley grew, too. The book was awesome and the movie a bit of a letdown in that regard.
The worst thing in the movie is Dudley in the fat makeup. It looks so odd. I would have rather just seen a slimmer Dudley. It would have given even more weight to the idea that Dudley had indeed changed.
@@11BscoutNG I agree too. With every reaction I watch, I like the movies less and less. They butchered the story. They changed things that didn't need to be changed, created illogical plot holes that could have been avoided just by following the books, they only make people confused, don't explain anything, change the characters' personality and there is so much left out of the story in general. It's such a pity that so many people know the movies first or worse, know only the movies.
@@captainchaos3667 You are correct, it is a deleted scene. I usually recommend people to watch the deleted scenes for this film and for part 2 as well. I wouldn't have minded the film being longer. Since the deleted scenes added so much depth and more background.
@@ESCLuciaSlovakia Yes! It’s so frustrating watching them being so confused about the things that were well explained in the books too. I really hope they read them because there are a lot of things they would never know without reading them (besides the things that commenters explain, if they read them). I’m so glad that Max is redoing the books with a tv series! Supposably they are going to stick much closer to the source material! 😍🤞
And in the books he comes to like them, and has quite the redemption arc. I’ve always been disappointed that Kreacher & Dudley’s character arcs aren’t shown in the movies.
59:10 "Why isn't Harry saying his name anymore?" Its not explained in the movies but Ron figured out that whenever they say his name Death Eaters would suddenly appear within minutes of them saying his name, the name was cursed so anyone (aka The Order or those that opposed Voldemort would've been the only ones that would actually use his name) that said Voldemort the curse would alert the Death Eaters to the location of whomever said it. Side note: The movies did Ron dirty as a lot of his big moments (like explaining what a Mud Blood is or being the one to defend Harry from Sirius when they thought he was a villain) were given to Hermione to elevate her as "the smart one" in the films & made him the comic relief character.
Harry and Hermione had actually stopped saying it only because Ron hated it so much, they didn’t know about the Taboo yet. After Ron left they continued the habit, and Ron found out about the Taboo while he was away. He thought they knew because they weren’t saying the name, but in the very conversation where he’s asking them about it Harry says it was a bad habit, and that he still had no problem saying Voldemort.
With Sirius' death, Harry inherited his belongings, including Kreacher. House elves have to obey their owners orders, so now he must listen to what Harry says. Because of Harry's kindness, including allowing him to keep the fake horcux for himself, Kreacher became very devoted to Harry, and much more agreeable to be around for everyone.
It always made me sad thinking of poor Kreature waiting at the Black house with dinner when they disappear. He really had become much more pleased with the trio and wasn't lonely anymore. I am glad he joined the elves at Hogwarts.
To kind of answer your questions about Dumbledore's dad killing muggles, there is a whole backstory of the Dumbledore family in the books, and it does tie into current events but it is also an obvious choice of what you would cut from the movies. At the same time, it is important that Harry be given reasons to question Dumbledore's motives because Harry now has to choose between hunting the horcruxes (Dumbledore's directive) and pursuing the Deathly Hallows (which seems to be an obvious path to victory). So, the movie sneaks in little snippets to give Harry moments of doubt about Dumbledore, but I personally think they didn't do quite enough because I have seen so many people not get why it is included at all.
Bill delivering the news of Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody's death is worse when you know that their actors, Brendan and Domnhall Gleason, are father and son in real life. Also: Voldemort wasn't hating on Lucius' wand. Lucius fell out of favor with Voldemort because he failed to deliver the Prophecy in Order Of The Phoenix. Side note: if you don't recognize the actor who played Rufus Scrimgeour, that's Bill Nighy, also known as Viktor from Underworld and Davy Jones from the 2nd and 3rd Pirates Of The Caribbean movies.
Just a reminder...the wand chooses the wizard. They don't always work well for you if you just pick one up. That's why the Snatcher's wand when Harry first uses it has an unexpected result on the flame.
@@gatroy13 K you're really overreacting. It's a small detail that they left out of the movies that's revealed at the end of Half-blood Prince, which, having watched, they already know the basis of the story. It's NEVER revealed anywhere else in the movies. They wouldn't have asked at all about it if they weren't expecting people to potentially answer.
@@farawaydawn I agree. I did overreact. Since they have already watched part 2 on Patreon I guess it is cool to say Snape dies, Dumbledore asked him to kill him, Snape was in love with Lilly Potter, and became a hero to Harry. Thank you for making it clear to me.
@24:52 Any other book readers catch this? "For the Greater Good" was Grindlewald's motto. It was engraved over the entrance of Nurmengard, the prison he constructed to house those who opposed him.
I’m glad you appreciated the animation in this one. It’s beautiful and deserves recognition. Also, I love Dobby saying “of course, I’m an elf”. A nice little reminder of just how powerful house elves are!
@@rogueryder3285 Clearly not … Because nobody’s watching it. *Nobody* cares about the story at all-quite literally. And describing their shenanigans as “thrill” and “adventure” is pretty perverse. Let’s keep in mind what they were actually doing and planning.
41:13 One thing they don’t explain in the movies is that when Sirius died, Harry inherited Grimauld Place (Sirius’ house). That means Kreacher is magically bound to obey him. Even if he doesn’t like or agree with him.
The movies remove this scene, but in the books, Wormtail dies in the Malfoy dungeon. He catches Harry and Ron trying to escape and begins strangling Harry. However, Harry reminds him of how he saved his life by not letting Sirius and Lupin kill in Prisoner of Azkaban. Wormtail then shows the slightest sign of remorse, and the silver hand that Voldemort gave him turns on him and begins choking him, as Voldemort put a curse on it that would attack Wormtail if he ever showed signs of betrayal. Despite Ron and Harry trying to pry it open, they couldn't and Wormtail was strangled to death by his own hand.
22:22, Remember what Olivander told Harry in the first movie, "The wand chooses the wizard." You can use someone else's wand, but unless that wand chooses you, it might not work correctly. Yes, the story of Dumbledore's father killing three muggle boys is true. In the book it's explained that three muggle boys were taunting and tormenting his very young daughter (Dumbledore's sister) trying to make her show them how she was doing the things they saw her doing, i.e. her magic. Their taunting and tormenting were so bad that she withdrew into herself and suppressed her magic until she 'went mad'. 1:13:54, That's why Harry, Ron, and Hermoine never said Voldemort's name. Voldemort put a curse/spell that if anyone said his name out loud it would immediately give away their position and the Deatheaters would know where to find them.
I always wonder if Umbridge was willingly cooperating after the ministry was taken or if it was because of the locket? I'm reading the books. I'm on book 4. So, if it's not explain on the books, please let me know!
I really enjoyed going down this path with you kids. Has been the best way returning to the Harry Potter. Thank you commentaries have been intelligent, heartfelt empathetic and a pleasure to watch. Anticipating the next. Thanks Nick.
Unfortunately the films don't show this but Snape is actually from the same small town in the English Midlands as Harry's mum, Lily, and her sister, Petunia (Harry's unpleasant aunt) and for a while observed them silently watching as Lily discovered her magical abilities. Because he, Snape, was a half-blood he was always aware of the magical community but Lily was a muggle-born, like Hermione, so she had no idea - Snape was actually the first person to tell her about the magical community. There's a reference in the Order of the Phoenix book to Snape but Harry doesn't understand it at the time - Petunia says she heard "that awful boy" telling "her" (Lily) about Dementors guarding Azkaban prison, years ago. Harry assumes Petunia is talking about his father, but she's actually talking about Severus Snape.
The "Prince" in Snape's nickname comes from his mother - Eileen Prince. And he is half-blood. His father was a muggle.... so from that comes that name "Half-blood Prince". And I just wanted to say, that I really enjoy your reaction. I started to watch your channel for the Friends reactions and it really cought me. Especially loved reaction to Last samurai. Best wishes from Czechia 🇨🇿
1. yes hermione's parents had no memory of her existing anymore, she did it because she knew Voldemort would go after them to get to Harry. however the spell is reversible so once the war is over she can bring their memories back 2. something that isn't explored in the films is why they have to leave the Dursleys when Harry turns 17 - the spell that Lily cast on Harry when she died for him was so powerful that it was also held by anyone who shared her blood (Aunt Petunia) so as long as Harry was at the Dursley's he was magically protected by Petunia's blood. that's why Dumbledore made Harry live with them and go back to them every summer even though they treated him so badly. but once Harry became an adult the protective spell would break so he was no longer safe there 3. Sirius left all his belongings to Harry when he died and in the wizarding world that included the house elf Kreacher. even though Kreacher hates Harry and hated Sirius he has to obey his master so any instruction Harry gives him now he has to obey it. it doesn't matter whether he wants to do it or not 4. Voldemort has put a curse on his name so that whenever it's said he instantly knows where that person is, he knows the only person brave enough to say his name is Harry so he did it to try to find him. thats how the death eaters found them so quickly in the cafe and in the woods. I can't remember exactly when the trio find out about the curse but they stop saying his name because of it 5. (this isn't explained at all in the last movie so its not a spoiler, its only in the book) Dumbledore's father didn't kill 3 muggles, Dumbledore's little sister Ariana did. she was attacked as a child by the muggles after they caught her doing magic in her garden and she accidentally killed them so her father took the blame and her mother locked her away as she feared the power of her magic. Ariana's magic just got more and more out of control and she ended up accidentally killing her mother too. Dumbledore was supposed to look after her as the oldest child but he went out on adventures instead, leaving it to his brother Aberforth who was very resentful towards him for it. when Dumbledore returned with Grindelwald he and Aberforth ended up duelling because they were so angry with each other and Ariana got in the middle to try to stop them but ended up dying. Aberforth, Dumbledore and Grindelwald didn't know exactly whose spell had killed her but Dumbledore always blamed himself
Regarding number 5, in the book Dumbledore’s father did kill the Muggles. Ariana was little and they saw her through the fence doing magic. As Dumbledore says they got upset when she couldn’t show them the trick and “got a bit carried away trying to stop the little freak doing it.” It destroys Ariana, so her father hunts down the Muggles and kills them
And that's why he kept repeating that it was "all his fault" when he was drinking the potion that made him mad in the cave with Harry in the previous episode. The potion forced him to live his worst memories over and over again
They just used Obliviate in the movie because it was a spell that was known to the movie audiences. In the book, Hermione actually used a spell to make her parents think they were someone else and sent them to Australia. So, she just had to find them and remove the spell afterwards.
At the end of Book 2, Dobby puts himself between Harry and Lucius Malfoy, saving Harry's life. Harry then tells Dobby never to do that again. He does it again, giving his life for Harry.
Yeah, and now when I watch that scene, I think, "No, Dobby will save you one last time before the end," and it makes me sad. However, I think Dobby would have absolutely saved Harry even knowing he would die because that's the kind of good heart he had.
35:15 Luna's dad is also Otto Hightower from HotD, LOL. WHAT AN ACTOR! 41:15 Harry is Sirius's godson, so Kreacher is bound by House Elf law to obey him, even though he hates him. He hated Sirius too, but since he was a member of the Black family he was bonded to them. 1:22:09 i STILL CRY when Dobby dies!
The Elder wand has nothing to so with the reason Dumbledore is powerful by the way. He was already considered the greatest Wizard of the age before he ever held it
I know it's frustrating that Dumbledore didn't tell Harry exactly what to do, but as Snape explained when he was trying to teach Harry not to let Voldemort into his mind, Voldemort can read minds. Any mind. So if they all knew what to do, anytime Voldy got close, he'd be able to find out the plan.
I'm only at 12:34 and i already want to give a thumb up because this conversation was so great (i hate when reactors talk so much before showning us their reactions but i loved this talk and your ideas)
The eye on Unbridge’s office door is Moody’s. Also, Umbridge is the person who sent the dementors after Harry in the earlier book. She is much worse in the books than the movies.

In the book, it's explained that there's a jinx on Voldemort's name. Because only people in open defiance of him say the name, it's an easy way to find dissenters. It's why the Death Eaters show up immediately when Xenophilius says it.
Love your video, u put so much clip so we can enjoy it together which is so important, that what i was missing from the others reaction, thank u guys ❤
Also, not to give anything away (spoiler alert) it’s also explained in the “Fantastic Beasts” movies that this caused her to become an Obscurus due to her refusing to use magic but being unable to control it.
@@JordiVanderwaal I don’t remember reading anything about Dumbledores sister being an Obscurial in the Harry Potter books but it’s in the “Secrets of Dumbledore” Fantastic Beasts movie. My impression, though, was that she was assaulted because the boys found her practicing underage magic. Something they don’t mention in the movies, but are in the books, is that the ministry (once taken over by the death eaters) made attendance to Hogwarts mandatory. If they tried to run they’d be hunted down
Snape's mother lastname was Prince (Ilene Prince). And she was a witch, while his dad was a muggle, that's why he is half-blood and he just added his mother's single name. It sounded dramatic but accurate tho. By the way! Quynh is so so smart, I won't say more but wow, she finds out a lot of stuff so quick!
Half blood prince was already explained in the comments of that reaction. You need the books, the movies will not explain it. Snape is halfblood. His mother was pureblood, his father an abusive muggle. So when Snape came in contact with the death eaters, he wanted to play up his pureblood side, not just because of who the death eaters are, but also because he hated his father, and his fathers name.
His mother’s maiden name was Prince & since he wanted to emphasize his connection to her & her magical family he adopted the moniker “Half Blood Prince” while in school. There’s no mention of him using it once he left Hogwarts.
It's funny how Snape and Voldemort are similar in this respect. Both had muggle fathers they hated and who abandoned (I think in Snape's case abused) them, I always felt that's part of the reason why Voldemort put so much faith in Snape, a sort of bond
Not sure if anyone answered your question at 59:09 but the gang stopped saying Voldemort's name because there is a curse on it. In the books they explained that anyone who says his name will have death eaters basically summoned next to them and killed/captured. When the gang escaped the wedding and Harry mentioned Voldemort in the cafe death eaters were there within like 10 seconds. So after they figured that out they stop saying his name. C:
As i remember it, it was Ron, who told Harry and Hermione after he came back, that there is a taboo on the name?. So it was, when You-know-who came first to power.

Hagrid's take on house elves is they love to look after humans, and they would take great offence in be offered payment. He also saw Dobby as the exception prooving the rule. As an oddball.
Hey guys, I love your reactions. You are quickly becoming my favorite reactors. You don't seem to read the comments at least only a very few. You often ask about things that someone gave the answer to in previous videos. Or maybe I am mistaken.
WOW I just realized how messed up Dumbledor’s message in his will attatched to the snitch is, “a reminder of the rewards for your perseverance…” considering what reward he is referring to it is seriously dark.
Hey! In the books, Voldemort had killed Bathilda months before Harry and Hermione had met her. Nagini had basically used her body as a puppet but it was Nagini the entire time. That's why the awful state of her home.
Pius is under the imperious curse. Ron is in a weakened state and so the Horcrux has a stronger effect on him. As for healing Dobby, Hermionie's bag was taken from her, and they didn't have it.
As others have said snape is half muggle half wizard on his mums side making him a half blood. his mums last name is prince, so is "the half blood prince"
You guys have to watch and react to the 20th anniversary documentary after the last movie !! So fun and touching to see the actors get together and reminesce after all these years !!
59:09 the reason Harry doesn't say Voldemort's name anymore is because a curse was placed on Voldemort’s name during the events of Deathly Hallows. This curse allowed Death Eaters to instantly locate anyone who said his name, making it risky to do so. Interestingly, Mr. Ollivander, the wandmaker, also changed his habit and began using the term “the Dark Lord” after being freed from captivity in the Malfoy Manor. Perhaps his feelings shifted from fearful suppression to doubtless intimidation, especially considering his firsthand experience with Voldemort. I love your channel 💜
That death eater backed off from Harry and Hagrid because Hedwig protecting him was confirmation that it was the real Harry. Death eaters were not allowed to kill Harry and summoned Voldemort instead.
I apologize of I’m miss spelling, please correct me if I am! But I absolutely love how perceptive Win is in your guys’ movie reactions. She sees things on the first watch that many people don’t observe until watching it a couple times over
41:27 did you know Neville was almost the chosen one as well? The prophecy that Trelawney made about the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord fell on the same birth date as both Neville and Harry's. Except Voldemort went after Harry's while death eaters tortured Neville's, that's why Harry ended up getting marked that night fulfilling the prophecy.
The Prophesy said "born at the end of July"; Neville was born on July 30, Harry on July 31st. And prophesies can only be found by the one they're about; Neville is the one who found it on the shelf and alerted Harry.
Quynh I adore your hair like this and how you look right now, so beautiful, and this colour on you, on both of you actually, so nice! Nick your hair is also great of course 😂 Love how invested you both are in this series, and how much you’re really thinking about and evaluating these films. I’m sad they’re almost done!
Fun facts/answers to some of your questions: Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2 were filmed back to back. Actually, the final scene of the franchise that was filmed was the scene where Harry, Ron and Hermione escape from the Ministry of Magic while being pursued by Yaxley the Death Eater. The shoot was followed by a celebratory BBQ, with music from a Mariachi band and ice cream supplied by Rupert Grint from the ice cream truck he purchased with his earnings from the films. Before, people were scared of using Voldemort's name because they feared his power. The film doesn't make it clear, but in the 7th book Voldemort actually puts a jinx on his own name in order to trace any witch or wizard who uses it, because he knows that the trio, Dumbledore's Army and the Order are the only wizards who would dare speak his name out loud. Thus, whenever his name is spoken aloud, Death Eaters and Snatchers are alerted to their location. Harry didn’t put a spell on the Dursleys, he had to convince them to leave for their own safety because Voldemort was after them. The film doesn't make the whole trace thing as clear as in the book. The real reason Harry had to stay with the Dursleys every summer was because when Lily sacrificed herself she invoked an ancient and powerful spell in which her blood served as protection for Harry against Voldemort through aunt Petunia. As Lily's sister, Petunia is Harry's closest living blood relative and he was protected as long as he stayed where she stayed until the age of 17. Also, the trace regarding Voldemort's name is a seperate thing. Each wand is unique and has a special connection with its owner. The wand chooses the wizard and a wand that belongs to someone else will never work quite right for anyone who's not its rightful owner. Remember in the first film when Ollivander says to Harry that the core of his wand was made from a feather of the same phoenix as Voldemort's (more specifically Dumbledore's phoenix aka Fawkes)? It created a strong connection between them and they are, in a way, twins, which is why they aren't able to seriously wound or kill each other. Also, when Voldemort tried to attack Harry with Lucius' wand (he was really there), Harry’s wand recognised him as an enemy and overpowered him because it absorbed some of the power of Voldy's wand when they duelled in GoF. Bill Weasley was bit by Fenrir Greyback (same werewolf who bit Lupin) during a battle at Hogwarts that took place in the 6th book after Dumbledore died, which was cut from the film. However, Bill did not turn into a werewolf because it wasn't a full moon when he was attacked. But he did develop some wolfish tendencies such as liking rare meat. Bill is played by Domhnall Gleeson, son of Brendan Gleeson who plays Mad-Eye Moody. The book mentions that after being attacked, Bill is so scarred that he now resembles Moody. Also, Domhnall Gleeson and Bill Nighy (Rufus Scrimgeour, the new Minister of Magic that comes to tell the trio about Dumbledore's will) played father and son in a movie called About Time, with Rachel McAdams and Margot Robbie. At the end of CoS, Harry makes Dobby promise never to save his life again. Dobby breaks that promise as he literally dies saving his and his friends' lives. Also, Dobby's first and last lines are "Harry Potter". He and Hedwig were both so innocent 💔 It broke Hermione to erase her parents' memories of her (that's why she was so emotional when she had to do that spell again) but she HAD TO to keep them safe from Voldemort. Lucius is terrified of Voldemort because he failed him with the diary, the prophecy and then Draco failed to kill Dumbledore (which was to punish Lucius). Just as Tom Riddle split his soul in 7 parts through horcruxes to preserve his life, Harry Potter "split" into 7 "bodies" to preserve his life (though it wasn't his idea). Harry inherited Grimmauld Place (Sirius' childhood home and Order headquarters) and Kreacher the house elf after Sirius' death, so Harry is technically his master. Nagini, disguised as Bathilda Bagshot, asks Harry if he is who she thinks he is and he confirms. In the book, he doesn't even realise she is speaking to him in Parseltongue (just like he didn't realise he was speaking it in CoS). The locket affects Ron the most because he is the most insecure. The things it is saying about him before destroying it is just Voldemort feeding on his biggest fears. The reason the sword is in the pond is because, as Dumbledore said in CoS: It takes a true act of bravery, a true Gryffindor to make it appear. Snape IS half-blood and his mother's maiden name was Prince, hence where he got the name Half-Blood Prince. Umbridge has Mad-Eye's magical eye on her door at the ministry. Not so fun fact: David Holmes, Daniel Radcliffe's stunt-double, was seriously injured on set. He became partially paralysed, with only limited mobility in his arms. Book/film differences: There's a deleted scene of Harry's goodbye with the Dursleys, who are leaving, which EVERYONE agrees should have been kept in the film. Petunia says to Harry "You didn't just lose a mother that night in Godric's Hollow. I lost a sister" (in the book she doesn't say this at all but instead a simple goodbye, though it looks like she has something else to say to him). In that one single moment we see more humanity than in all the other books/films, and we realise that, in spite of everything, Petunia loved Lily. While it doesn't excuse how she treated Harry it does show that a part of her loved her sister and therefore she loved Harry too. Then there's Vernon who doesn't say much but farewell, but when Harry says "I'm just a waste of space, isn't that right Vernon?" he doesn't answer and just looks at him. Lastly, Dudley hesitates getting in the car and then walks over to Harry while literally staring down his father (quite awkwardly but maybe that was intentional), reaches out to shake Harry's hand and says to him "I don't think you're a waste of space" (in the book he also thanks Harry for saving his life in OotP and says "See you, Harry"). See here: ua-cam.com/video/jzkDRz8quKo/v-deo.htmlsi=XTkrSPP6vuXPYO7a. Now, the way dementors work is they force their victims to suffer their worst memories and fears. Dudley saw his worst fear which was seeing who he truly was: a spoiled brat and a bully. After Harry saved him he realised he needed to change his ways. There is also a scene where Harry steps on a cup of tea that was left outside his door. He assumes it was a prank but it's implied Dudley left it there out of concern. The Harry and Hermione dancing scene was not in the book. Everyone has their own interpretation but to me it's just two friends letting themselves forget for a few minutes. It says so much even without any dialogue and it's awkward because it feels so real. When Harry takes the locket off Hermione's neck and sets it aside, they are literally setting their burdens aside for one moment. This scene is the embodiment of Dumbledore's quote from Prisoner of Azkaban - "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light". Some people say film Ron and Hermione aren't as good as book Ron and Hermione but I disagree. Emma and Rupert had plenty of chemistry but Emma also had crazy chemistry with Dan. While he and Bonnie Wright, who plays Ginny, had none whatsoever. Hell, Harry had more chemistry with Luna than Ginny. But I personally love that Harry and Hermione's relationship was simply platonic throughout the series. There is something so pure about it. Having Bellatrix carve "mudblood" into Hermione's arm during the torture scene was not in the book or the original script. Emma Watson and Helena Bonham Carter came up with the idea together on the spur of the moment during filming. Also, Evanna Lynch made up the dance Luna did with her dad during Bill’s and Fleur’s wedding. The relationship between Tonks and Lupin is further explored in the book. They reveal that they are married and later that Tonks is pregnant. When Lupin appears to have an existential crisis and plans to abandon his wife and unborn child, Harry stops him. Later, when their son Teddy is born, Lupin is thrilled and asks Harry to be his godfather. In the book, the Death Eaters recognised the real Harry because he used Expelliarmus, the disarming spell (which is his "signature spell"), not because of Hedwig. When Harry and Hermione visit Godric's Hollow they actually do visit as different people using Polyjuice Potion. In the book, Peter Pettigrew dies after being compelled to strangle himself with the silver hand from Voldemort.
Justice for Kreacher! The films don't explain that Kreacher is bound to obey Harry, because Harry inherited Sirius's house, and therefore his house-elf. Once Harry starts treating Kreacher better, Kreacher actually begins to be nice to Ron and Hermione, too.
36:14 Harry: Of course I didn't. He would only show up every six months! And even when he did show up, he would just say a couple of stupid metafores!!!! Jokes aside, Dumbledore has rich backstory in the books. His father being imprisoned, his mother dieing, his sister being killed, his relationship with his brother and his battle with Grindelwald. Some great stuff.
In the book, Voldemort put a curse on his Name: whoever said it, mostly people like Harry and other Phoenix Order Members would be trackable and all protective enchantments would be lifted. That's how the Death Eaters found them in the diner, and how the snatchers found them in the book.
Gregorovich had the Elder wand, Grindewald stole from him and when DUmbledore defeated Grindewald he got the Elder wand when he was already an adult. There's a whole plot in the books about how Grindewald was Batilda Bagshot'a nephew, went to her house when he was a teenager and became friends with Dumbledore for some time and they were obssesed with tfinding the Hallows. There's a lot to unpack there, the movies just glossed over this.

Yees this is precious❤
The way this movie visualizes “The Tale Of The Three Brothers” is tremendous.
Ron overhears this when they're getting the locket from the ministry and tells Harry and Hermione, that's is why Harry stops saying his name.
its also the same spell they used before, so thats why people were so afraid to say his name.

One thing the movie fails to explain is that the name “Voldemort”, if spoken, has it’s own trace on it. That’s how the death eaters found them in London.
It’s in the extended versions that put the deleted scenes back into the movies
Yes, but only once the ministry is in death eater hands…not throughout the series.
There is a lot the movies fail to explain, even if it would only take them 5 seconds.
The movies are great and they do the books a lot of justice, but they do tend to leave a lot of stuff out of context.
If I remember correctly, they watered down what happened to Wormtail here (Rat Face). In the book he has a slight moment of hesitation in harming Harry and therefore is forced to strangle himself to death with the silver hand Voldemort gave him.
You remember correctly :) That would have been extremely dark for the movies.
I like to mention that if someone says HP is for kids
Yes the silver hand was a curse. If he disobeyed Voldemort at all the hand would kill Peter. Peter did not strangle himself. The hand turned on him.

One of the worse things about the movie--differing from the books--is that you don't get to see Dudley's real reaction and feelings with this ending. Dudley grew, too. The book was awesome and the movie a bit of a letdown in that regard.
I believe that is a deleted scene which you can find on here.
Kreacher was the Black family house elf. After Serius' death Harry inherited the house and Kreacher. Even though he hates them he has to obey Harry.
But agreed, they have Hermione so many of Ron’s moments!
@@melhawl3685this!!

I love the explanation of how Voldemort's a good boss and he knows how to delegate. 😂
Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald, who was in possession of the elder wand, so he is so strong by himself.
The "Prince" in Snape's nickname comes from his mother - Eileen Prince. And he is half-blood. His father was a muggle.... so from that comes that name "Half-blood Prince".

1. yes hermione's parents had no memory of her existing anymore, she did it because she knew Voldemort would go after them to get to Harry. however the spell is reversible so once the war is over she can bring their memories back
2. something that isn't explored in the films is why they have to leave the Dursleys when Harry turns 17 - the spell that Lily cast on Harry when she died for him was so powerful that it was also held by anyone who shared her blood (Aunt Petunia) so as long as Harry was at the Dursley's he was magically protected by Petunia's blood. that's why Dumbledore made Harry live with them and go back to them every summer even though they treated him so badly. but once Harry became an adult the protective spell would break so he was no longer safe there
3. Sirius left all his belongings to Harry when he died and in the wizarding world that included the house elf Kreacher. even though Kreacher hates Harry and hated Sirius he has to obey his master so any instruction Harry gives him now he has to obey it. it doesn't matter whether he wants to do it or not
4. Voldemort has put a curse on his name so that whenever it's said he instantly knows where that person is, he knows the only person brave enough to say his name is Harry so he did it to try to find him. thats how the death eaters found them so quickly in the cafe and in the woods. I can't remember exactly when the trio find out about the curse but they stop saying his name because of it
I love watching these over and over because once you know the secrets you go back and realize that their reactions were multifaceted
Later after this Hermione was able to put herself back in her parent’s memories
They just used Obliviate in the movie because it was a spell that was known to the movie audiences. In the book, Hermione actually used a spell to make her parents think they were someone else and sent them to Australia. So, she just had to find them and remove the spell afterwards.
Ok that’s a relief to hear
At the end of Book 2, Dobby puts himself between Harry and Lucius Malfoy, saving Harry's life. Harry then tells Dobby never to do that again. He does it again, giving his life for Harry.
Yeah, and now when I watch that scene, I think, "No, Dobby will save you one last time before the end," and it makes me sad. However, I think Dobby would have absolutely saved Harry even knowing he would die because that's the kind of good heart he had.

Also, not to give anything away (spoiler alert) it’s also explained in the “Fantastic Beasts” movies that this caused her to become an Obscurus due to her refusing to use magic but being unable to control it.
Wait did they explain that in the books? Because I don't remember it. T-T
@@JordiVanderwaal I don’t remember reading anything about Dumbledores sister being an Obscurial in the Harry Potter books but it’s in the “Secrets of Dumbledore” Fantastic Beasts movie. I do think it’s explained in “Deathly Hallows” about Dumbledores Father. I’m not positive but I think so. My impression, though, was that she was assaulted because the boys found her practicing underage magic. Afterward she refused to use magic but wasn’t able to control the power that she had… much like Credence in “ Fantastic Beasts”.
@@myroselle6987I didn’t remember it being an SA but that muggle boys assaulted her - which could mean more than SA - and she was never the same.
@@phillyphan1225 I agree… I don’t remember it being a SA either but it’s been a minute since I’ve read the book. I’ll have to check now or it will drive me crazy…lol. I’m right now watching “Secrets Of Dumbledore” because I couldn’t exactly remember the details of Ariana being an Obscurial. There’s so much back story etc. in this Wizarding World. I love it and I hate it because it makes me even more obsessive.. lol!!
Saying of Charity Burbage "I wonder how many classes she taught to Draco" is a really good point I hadn't ever thought about. What must be going through his mind in that moment?
I don’t think Draco would take Muggle Studies class
Probably none lol, Draco wouldn't take Muggle Studies.
1:00:30 About the kid, I dont want to spoil it but I can tell you the kid was related to Dumbledore, and you can see about who he is in the Fantastic Beasts, a story before Harry Potter also in the wizarding World.
Also, the book explains why Dumbledore didn't want Harry to have the Elder Wand.
26:23 motorcycles with sidecars are fairly rare, but its supposed to be more comfortable than riding tandem, especially behind someone Hagrid's size.. In the US, the sidecar is on the motorcycle's right, here they are in the UK so its to the left, away from oncoming traffic.
"Like a good boss, he delegates." 🤣
23:36 she didn't teach Draco. She taught muggle studies. For them it's an elective of sorts.
I love hearing about your thoughts and theories before you start the movies. 😊
Can I just say I’ve loved both of your reactions to this series and I’m kinda sad it s coming to an end 🥹🖤
Thank you for spelling Quýnh! I love the laughing crying intro montage, her sobbing is all of us 😢🥲
Not sure if anyone answered your question at 59:09 but the gang stopped saying Voldemort's name because there is a curse on it.
@@Nostalgeek I believe you're right. It has been a minute since I have read the books
YESSSS! A new one! Love these and love you guys!
If I’m remembering correctly Voldemort was conceived under a love potion and was therefore born without the capability to love.
Tom Felton had so few lines and put so much emotion & turmoil in all his silent moments.
my favourite movie with the 2nd and the 3rd. This saga was so impactful and iconic
Finally! Been waiting for this!
I’ve really enjoyed your reactions to these movies, you both have been great! You laugh, you cry, you pay attention, you love all the best characters, it’s been a joy watching you! Can’t wait to see the finale, it’s an emotional roller coaster, good luck!
Remember, "The wand chooses the wizard Mr.Potter."
Awesome reaction thanks!
Hagrid's take on house elves is they love to look after humans, and they would take great offence in be offered payment. He also saw Dobby as the exception prooving the rule. As an oddball.
Started with laughs and ended in tears.
Eh… started with tears, ended with tears lol. She cried when Hermione obliviated her parents at the very beginning.
Hey guys, I love your reactions. You are quickly becoming my favorite reactors. You don't seem to read the comments at least only a very few. You often ask about things that someone gave the answer to in previous videos. Or maybe I am mistaken.
Great reaction guys, loving the Harry Potters. And I just have to say that Quỳnh's hair in this video looks absolutely fabulous!
WOW I just realized how messed up Dumbledor’s message in his will attatched to the snitch is, “a reminder of the rewards for your perseverance…” considering what reward he is referring to it is seriously dark.
I don't know, I think Harry would consider it a reward to be able to end Voldemort, even if he died doing it.
Bill Weasley is played by Domhnall Gleeson, son of Brendan Gleeson who played Mad Eye Moody. Domhnall is General Hux in Star Wars.
I gotta say you guys video thumbnail game is immaculate. 🔥
Thank you! All credit to Quynh she is next level good
Hey! In the books, Voldemort had killed Bathilda months before Harry and Hermione had met her. Nagini had basically used her body as a puppet but it was Nagini the entire time. That's why the awful state of her home.
Love the chat at the start! Y’all are on the ball! I feel you will be well served and satisfied by the end….for the most part…
Pius is under the imperious curse. Ron is in a weakened state and so the Horcrux has a stronger effect on him. As for healing Dobby, Hermionie's bag was taken from her, and they didn't have it.
In case yall (nick and quynh) don’t know the reason hermoine erased herself from her parents memories is so Voldemort can’t use them against her
As others have said snape is half muggle half wizard on his mums side making him a half blood. his mums last name is prince, so is "the half blood prince"
1:23:28 when i was in the theaters and saw this, someone shouted "kiss! kiss! kiss!" xD
Loving how Quynh has been becoming much more confident and comfortable in these videos. Great reaction you two.
I absolutely love your reactions to the harry potter franchise❤❤❤❤❤
19:09 HAHAHA I THOUGHT THAT WAS MY VLC PLAYER HAHHA "WAIT A MINUTE THIS IS UA-cam" LOL
She sees things on the first watch that many people don’t observe until watching it a couple times over
The spelling of her name is on the screen at the start of the video.
Thanks for letting me know :)
Nick your hair is also great of course 😂
Love how invested you both are in this series, and how much you’re really thinking about and evaluating these films. I’m sad they’re almost done!
Wow! In the intro, Quynh’s instincts and perceptions were so good!
Fun facts/answers to some of your questions:
Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2 were filmed back to back.
He and Hedwig were both so innocent 💔
It broke Hermione to erase her parents' memories of her (that's why she was so emotional when she had to do that spell again) but she HAD TO to keep them safe from Voldemort.
Book/film differences:
There's a deleted scene of Harry's goodbye with the Dursleys, who are leaving, which EVERYONE agrees should have been kept in the film.
Recognizing Harry for using a spell is kind of silly. It isn't like he invented it. I get that he uses it a lot but plenty of people use it.
