"I had a portable record player that I'd take along on the road," Cash wrote in 'Cash: The Autobiography'. "And I'd put on 'The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan backstage, then go out and do my show, then listen again as soon as I came off. After a while at that, I wrote Bob a letter telling him how much of a fan I was. He wrote back almost immediately, saying he'd been following my music since 'I Walk the Line,' and so we began a correspondence." They met for the first time at this Newport Folk Festival '64... They were so happy to see each other, Bob came in Johnny's hotel room and they jumped up & down on the bed like kids! ❣️ Sunny side.

@@reflexy_3915 I was born in 1957 and was a fan of music very early, maybe in the womb. Johnny's Sun Records recording of Rock Island Line was one of the first songs I can remember listening to from a box of 45's my Dad owned. Big River was another and I think the "B" side of that one was Teenage Queen. Another Sun recording in there was Jailhouse Rock by some guy named Elvis something or other, lol. Several other gems in there as well, probably 40 or more records. I was devestated 20 years later to discover my Mother had had a garage sale and sold the whole collection for like 50 cents. My older sister wasn't happy either...she lost an original Barbie Dream House.
Awesome. The documentary Festival only has a few seconds of Johnny singing Walk the Line. I always wanted to see or hear the full set. Thanks for posting this!

'Burbon?' No thanks, I don't drink anymore. I don't drink any less, I just don't drink anymore.' Quality Cash moment.
Because he was a speed freak. For most people speed and alcohol don't mix but some speed freaks drink like fish
