    STORYLINE:
The auction of a famous Iranian princess's jewellery and other personal belongings opened in Paris on Wednesday.
Princess Soraya died in Paris last October, at the age of 69. She was a descendant of the powerful Iranian tribe of Bakhtiar and married the Shah of Iran, Mohammed Reza Pahlavi.
Following their divorce the princess lived in a number of different cities around the world such as Madrid, Monte Carlo, Rome, Cannes, as well as Paris.
The auction, set to last three days, has an estimated value of three million (M) Euros.
But auctioneer Pierre-Yves Lefèvre believes the jewellery has aroused a lot of interest and will go for even higher.

I had the pleasure of meeting her! A fascinating lady! Beautiful collection, not only because of the prices but because of the person that once they belonged to! Magnificent!

If Iran was not in the hands of the Mullah's princes Soraya would have been given a formal burial with honors in Iran because she was for a short period the queen of Iran, and her jewelry would have been donated to the Iranian national Royal Jewelry collection.

What a sad auction, it really hurts me and brings tear to my eyes to see these people that have no clue who the princess Soraya was, looking at these old grannies to bargain hunt to kill their spare time. behind these objects is the history of a well-known lady princess and a nation.

@@jameslynch9359 Everything is man made and make belief. Every thing. Versailles, the pantheon in Rome, Queen Elizabeth’s stuff, English royalty, Danish royalty, the White House. Everything is fake, but it doesn’t make its loose any less painful.

It must be so humiliating to have all the objects you own and collect throughout your life displayed to and touched by uncultured commoners and then miserably sold.

It's would be different if she had earned them, but she did not. Most were gifts and her wealth was never earned by her either anyway. She didn't "collect" them more so people threw them at her.

@@Necronaut Even if it were so, as your fertile imagination suggests, dear Necronaut, that Princess Soraya would walk on the streets as people threw jewels, diamonds and emeralds at her in a frenzy of adoration, it would be her effort to catch them, then select them, keep the best ones and discard the others. In any case, in my comment I was not talking about Her Imperial Highness but rather about anyone whose family decides to put all your belongings into auction.

@@anacletwilliams8315 I love how you say my imagination, as you actually dream up a fantasy I never said anything about. Have you ever heard of psychological projection? Look it up you suffer from it greatly.
Her parents were not selling anything she made, just useless material possessions that would look better on a person (what they are designed for) rather than a display case. I guess some simpleton like you wouldn't understand why jewelry is made. Or even how it is made. It's made and found by "commoners" you pompous women.

@@Necronaut How very funny you are, Necronaut. At least you did make me smile with your insane comment. So I am a simpleton. Well maybe I am. And you are a very sophisticated person, man or woman I can't figure out. And you are right, jewelers make jewels. But you are wrong if you think jewels are made for commoners. They are not. They are made for Queens and Empresses and only they should wear and display them as a sign of their nobility and royal blood. And the commoners should do the only thing they can: admire and applaud.
