- Hi, so heres the final video for the base! I hope I've covdered everything for you. I'm looking for a mic that works with the iPhone, so sound is 100%, appreciate its little high octane! but thats me, its the way I work and at the end of the day Im trying to earn a wage. thanks for all the comments, I do try to reply to them all, but if I've not keep asking and ill get to you.

ForgeFast screws with torx heads from Tool Station and Milwaukee torx bits - best combination I've found so far. Keep up the good work!

Great to see. We were told by a company that there isn't really any need to insulate the flooring as the insulated walls and roof are enough but i find this hard to believe?!
milwaukee-shockwave-impact-screwdriver-bits Pack of 25 - £6 from screwfix as suggested. Started my garden room build over the weekend, driven aroun 100 M5 x 100mm Goldscrews ( screwfix) and the first bit is still going strong. I mainly have Dewalt tools, but really rate Milwaukee gear,

Love the channel and great work mate 👍 I've started using Spax wirox screws, they're a bit dearer but an absolute pleasure to use with a torx bit. You might want to give them a go.
I've watched all of your videos, but these more detailed, step-by-step guides are awesome and very helpful, thanks William! Quick question on this video, is the egger protect flush with the 4x3 base frame or is there a very slight overhang/lip (At 3:24 it looked like the egger protect had a slight overhang, but I'm not sure, it might have been the camera angle)? Looking forward to the next one on building the walls and putting the frame up. Thanks again!

Been watching your videos lately, really impressed with the build quality . Loving the threaded bar system! For pozi -bits, I use the erbauer (50mm long) bits from Screwfix. For some reason the 25mm long bits seem to shear off easily. Or to coin your phrase, ‘crap’ !!
The black impact series bits from milwaukee are pretty good dont shear but do end up bending eventually and don't fit the screw heads but are the best we have found 👍 good work by the way

Use drill bits like Milwaukee Shockwave impact driver bit set , very strong and won’t break easily .

Hi William. I'm having a crack at my own garden gym at the moment - am a DIY novice but it's been interesting learning from UA-cam and your channel is one of the better ones for actually showing how to do each part rather than just timelapsing everything! Question on the membrane between the joists and the flooring. Is it strictly necessary? I'm planning to just aluminium tape the joists to seal the timber and PIR insulation boards. And then put my plywood straight down on that. I guess it's more labour intensive than simply laying a membrane sheet over the lot, but would be interested in thoughts.

Those Bosch bits don’t look like impact rated bits. I got a few Milwaukee shockwave bits with my driver set and still on the first bit after building my wood shed. (Similar to your builds though not the same specs.) used some pz3 bits and pz3 spax screws for some of it as well.

Hi, loving all your videos and now using them to make a more budget version as a bit strapped for cash at the moment. can I ask why you use joist hangers instead of screwing/nailing the ends like you do but the u channels?
After watching your videos, I feel I could tackle making one myself. - But not just now......
A really class bit of work . I have to redo a floor in my log cabin . I never put a membrane down beneath the floor joists and the floor which is the sterling board has rotted so quickly .I am confused whether a breathable membrane or damp proof membrane should be used .May you could enlighten me .The floor joists are treated and are fine but as a DIYer i would like to do it properly now .
Any advice would be much appreciated .

Try sabre cut bits there on amazon about £7 for about 20 that includes the holder,I'm smashing in 90mm screws all day with them there like the old Wurth bits that you don't see anymore,Do yourself a favour and get some,I was so impressed I'm gonna have to try there blades.Great work mate your really smashing it
I use sabre cut pz2 impact bits. Seem to be pretty good so far but only been using them 6 months, but best so far. Normally buy from eBay £12 for 25 I think, but dong hold me to it.
Milwaukee Shockwave driver bits serve me well for similar flooring jobs.

I'd use torque bits and screws you get a much better grip with little or no jumping out as your screwing down..
Generally any bits that are specifically impact rated will do well, the ones you are using don't look like they are, as they have a thick shank, I would recommend DeWalt extreme impact torsion bits, they seem to last forever and will easily get a few hundred screws from each one, ain't that dear either, like 7-8 quid for 25, look for them on ebay or online somewhere!
Where do you purchase the pile rods & brackets and the rubber membrane and flashing system?

Festool bits are definitely the best about.
SabreCut bits impact and magnetic can get them on Amazon. Thousands of screws from 1 bit and still using same one. Get the long shaft ones and do away with your bit holder or you can get a sabrecut a long magnetic impact holder if you want to use the short bits. And get the bit to suit your screws pz, ph etc.
Just reccomened sabrecut too... They're indestructible. Bought the bosch professional set recently and sabre cut are miles better.

I use dewalt heads myself,but if I was using lots of screws like in your game I'd suggest using a torx headed screws
I've been using Milwaukee for the past year and they seem to be really good it's Milwaukee shockwave
I’ve tried them all, Dewalt, Milwaukee, Wera , all no good, you can easily go through 25 bits in a week, I use Witte Pz2, there a bit pricey but so is 25 bits a week.
What timber flooring do you use over the insulation. Could not quite catch it on the video
Check out Sabrecut drill bits. They are absolutely indestructible.
Torx screws with a 100mm t20 torx bit I use find no breakage keep up

Tubby Cab only popping in 60mm screws, torx is probably the way forward though 👌never broke a torx bit yet
I always use tx bits now, almost no rounding off
Is there any reason why you over hang the egga base on the outside frame? Do you trim it flush later?

Would you recommend xps insulation board in the floor as a cheaper alternative to celotex, Kingspan, etc?

So do you not need a vapour barrier for the floor then?
assume you are using impact rated bits and not just the standard drill-driver ones? Do these buildings need an air gap under them to allow air flow? If the ground slopes a bit then I guess you will end up with one anyway but if the ground is very flat then is it needed? Hard enough to stay below the 2.5m as it is :)

I’ve tried all the bits and I like 5 x WERA 25mm Bi-Torsion PZ2/Pozi 2 Diamond Coated Screwdriver Bits (ebay)
Wera impact pz bits are pretty good but a bit more expensive and erbauer impact pz bits are cheap and pretty good

you an get reenforced posts within the corner frame of the window to accomplish this. A decent window supplier will know what is needed when you order such a unit.

Hi, Have a serious question for you about the roofing membrane - we have 4 cats and they like to claw at the roof on my shed - Felt - Have done a search and could find no reference to cats - in relation to the Firestone membrane - how does it stand up to cats and is there a link to whats covered and whats not in this regard ?
It should have no issues. There is a video online which shows how strong it is

Really appreciate your videos, please keep the detail coming. Just to confirm timber size in floor, 4 x 3 perimeter and then 4 x 2 joists. Walls made from 4 x 2 also?

What do you recommend in terms of wood treatment for the cedar wood to stop it turning silver?
we've always used Owtarol clear oil mate, but it'll never look like the 1st time you oil it, but it won't be far off, if you keep up the maintenance

I've been using DeWalt bits I got from Toolstation for about 20 quid I think they're called like flex force or something they seem to do the job 🤷♂️

You seem to be doing at least 26 a year, if you want to expand to lancs, I will do you one for free with my lads to your spec. You are going to need more lads soon. Love over engineering and it seems that your clients are happy to have a quality product.

Just tap it in tappy tappy give it a little tappy 🏌🏻♂️ I use the Makita DFR550Z 18V screw gun. and use the 55mm collated flooring screws ZIP ZIP ZIP all night or day long and never brake any bits.

With the insulation being exposed under the floor, do you see issues with rodents destroying or damaging it?

enjoying the videos mate, seen enough of the base system now, not sold on the rods tbh, i applaud the idea but it's not a tried and tested system, seems like all the weight is held by the thread on the rods, only my opinion,
use Milwaukee bits for your impact driver, also how come we don't see windows, doors being fitted or electrics going in, i'd like to see the cedar being fitted too, keep up the good work tho

Although the purpose of pretty much all bolts is to bear weight on their threads, so personally I don't really see anything wrong with it.

I’ve heard that rodents can get underneath and chew the insulation for nesting . Could you advice on this please ?
We sometimes put a mesh skirting around, but a mouse would get through mm hole, rats and foxes would be kept out, never had an issue tbf

WERA dont buy anything else.. thank me later,, diamond impact bit and bit holder, german bits.. one bit will utlast probably 3-4 buckets of dewalt/bosch bits guaranteed. toolstation do them please try one tell me im wrong you can feel the bits a different class when you use it, seems to have a more solid grip on the screw to generate more torque
