Ive seen MANY courts allow inmates to do time in lue of paying fines.. he’s basically doing life.. leave him alone, he’s paying his dues! We incarcerate more of our citizens and for longer periods than most other countries.. our judicial system needs a serious overhaul!!

But all the judge did is say he can't post bail for less than a week a mnd then wilk have a hearing about it. It wasn't the end of the case. (Plus he had like 15 probation violations too, not sure of the number.)

I agree, these collection agencies that can charge $35 every time they send a request for money is outrageous. You know darn well that company is maybe spending $5 a year per person and yet probably racks up 300-500 a year in fees. I only owed money once, and it was for a stack of overdraft fees as I was unaware that they were occurring at that time; so $30 of purchased items turned into $500+ negative balance. Needless to say I changed banks.
In Idaho you can file a motion to reduce the monthly garnishment to a maximum of $20. I wonder how many other states have that pre-existing law that people don't motion properly.

The fact that you don’t understand why this process is in place, says you do not understand the idea of justice. Do you think everything is about money. Justice costs the public something. It also cost the guilty something. That’s how it’s supposed to work.
I understand why they work to collect the money. My point is you know a lifer will never be able to pay off his debt. It doesn't make sense to keep spending money on the lost causes by continuing to take them to court and wasting more time and money.

it wasnt to collect 13 dollars. that was only the amount they were able to collect against all his debt owed to the court.
