Hi Toby. Thanks for reviewing the Big Six. I'm on the hunt for a multi channel USB desk for a client and this beauty looks to fit the bill perfectly. However, he wants to 'play' the desk old school style. The plan is to connect all of his hardware synths across the audio inputs and record the individual signals straight into his DAW via the USB connection to create stems - the Big Six is 16 I/O via USB I believe which is great. The main thing we're looking for is for the individually recorded signal(s) to print mutes, fader movements and EQ tweaks on the fly so he can jam to his hearts content, safe in the knowledge that all of his 'playing' has been printed and any bits of inspiration/happy accidents won't be missed. A lot of his gear has built in arps and sequencers so we can't just mute any MIDI sequence with a controller to cut that particular sound off during a jam because there won't BE a MIDI sequence for those particular pieces of kit. Once the stems are down we can then set about mixing ITB with all the volume fades/mutes/EQ tweaks intact. I've looked at the Tascam Models 12/16 & 24 and Soundcraft mixers and they're great but they take the individual USB audio signal pre-fader so there's no mutes or fader tweaks getting printed to the stems. From what I understand the Big Six can be switched to record the individual signals post-fader via USB so will that print the mutes/EQ as well? If it does then this is exactly what we're looking for. This is exactly what I have been waiting for all these years. First I saw. Was the old mackie 12mtk but don’t believe they even make the drivers up to date despite some places still selling it. & this is a big upgrade in quality. Been sold on this for a while but it’s hard to save 2k without falling prey to eBay & reverb 🤦🏻
@@Cvydx Lol fam i know.But im saying if your only using usb to route stuff isnt that just digital mixing or im i wrong? Im just trying to figure out because your not physically routing audio thru the analog convertors with trs cables your just routing stuff thru a usb.
@@kenzoblytheproducertv4934 It's analogue mixing with digital integration. You can use it as a front end while tracking then play the tracks from the computer through it using the analog eq, compressors and mix bus or, if you are clever enough, do both at the same time and get yer dub on!

I want to get this, but if you look on UA-cam, you see some people selling their unit and saying it lacks punch. I don’t know how true this is.

Noticed you pushed the faders to 10? Is there are reason why you don't use the zero point as maximum?
It’s easier and more intuitive to push them all up than to land them on 0 in a live situation.
So basically using usb your digital mixing right?

It's not that great. Limited and flat sounding. Not a good buy. Preamps are not good quality. Very limited outboard gear outs/ins. EQ is minimal
