    Ah the Joy of having ALL the right tools ! .... my projects usually end up with me traveling back and forth to the store 37x , lol ... awesome sub man , i had fun watching too and the pay-off demo at the end was the icing on the cake ! Great job !

      Haha, thank you so much! To be honest I only own like a few hand tools and a drill. I use a 'tool library' when I'm in need of a table saw or a drill press.

      @@justabasslover4404Donny shown something cool . He just pointed one direction for beginers . Everybody can decide, what the important : high detailed HI-FI or , simply Hi_Fi or more-more-more high& bass sound. Why need fals, " shocking " bass ? This is a cool stuff to a Pc, or something else with SMALL speaker . I'm also doing it differently, but it is also excellent method. You need extreme, " shocking " bass ? Build a Carson Reflex cabinet. Old school , but the dual 40 cm long stroke subwoofer / cabinet pushes your aura down . :D Or build your method from your own money, not from Donny. " You should make one too.." Nice...

    Hey to solve your chuffing issues, you can use a slot port in your future builds to reduce port noise by 70%.
    All that said, i think its one of the greatest builds iv'e ever seen!!!!.

    Holy mackerel Brother. Awesome job, I felt like I was watching how its made. How To...Anyone with all your equipment already knows how to build it. Im looking to do a stand alone but i was going to tart up some old car speaker stuff and using no jigs or fancy equipment. Dont get me wrong I build systems for homes and cars and in order to be productive we build boxes sand edges and cover with material, your build is geared more for master tinker guys. With your skills make a box with old parts and minimal time and public would not get discouraged

    This was for 95% a joy to watch. Such a treat. Fine design and beautifully crafted. No expenses spared. But in all honesty, I had a hard time swallowing the terrible potmeter knobs that violated the enclosure, especially after turning a blind eye to the cheap banana plugs. Hence the 95%. Compared to the cost of the build it would have been cheep to get some nice knobs and terminals. But thanks for the upload, I really enjoyed it a lot. 👍👍👍

    One of the rare builds on YT I actually like. Kudos.
    TIPS: Add some Sonofil (or something similar) in the box. It will "increase" the box size and make the woofer play a bit lower and softer(but not muddy).
    Additionally, it also helps with standing wave dissipation and tends to help with some potential port noise.
    Also, make sure that the intake of the port (one inside the box) has at least the diameter of the port of distance between the wall facing the port input. That greatly reduces port noise(if you have any). So, if your port diameter is 8 cm, make sure that the intake is at least 8 cm away from the box wall facing the port input.

    I did some canned spray box before, it always doesn't end well even after using lot's of primer and sealant, so I decided to to send it to my friend's auto body shop and use automotive spray paint. The end result is way better than canned spray only cost a little more. The paint is thick so all the mounting need to cut a little bigger.

    Dude thats a very loving job you've done building that Sub but I would've put the power supply on the floor of the unit because heat will over time melt the tape and I suspect the weight of the power supply will cause damage and you grief having to undo your excellent work. And I would use 8 gauge cable for the signal wires to your other speakers.
    Its a wonderful thing seeing someone taking pride in their work and sharing the results.

    You did a lot of work here but there is a lot going on that is not so great.
    Maybe you could watch some threads on audio forums.
    Not trying to be an a-hole, but seeing a lot of work and a not so great outcome.
    Things that could be better is the diameter of the port and internal placement, it is too close to a wall and the air velocity is too high.
    You should always place the amplifier and power source on the bottom and mounted with screws.
    It also looks like you pushed the power cable socket in without an adhesive.
    It is so close to being really good, just for a few details. I do hope you will continue because you have talent enough 👍

    The distortion figures for TPA3116D are around about 0.2%, which is perfectly acceptable below 100Hz as hearing is less sensitive to distortion there, BUT the IC is only capable of 50W into 4R, which means you need an optimum box size for the driver you are using, otherwise you will get massive amounts of excursion and little actual bass output. In other words you cannot use a small box with such an underpowered amplifier.
    Is your box size calculated on the Thiele Small Parameters for optimum ported?
    Does it shake the room?

      @kadrix732 5 років тому

      That's sub bass which is under 20hz, it's impossible to have a woofer playing at let's say 50hz without being able to hear it. (If it's rated for 50hz that is)
      Also this system can't give you those low frequencies that are supposed to be felt as both the box and the driver are way to small.

      @peter_aka_hamamass 5 років тому +2

      Exactly! It is all easily done, IF you own a complete woodworkshop! If you don't buy a ready to assemble kit, many of them around, with good components! Nice idea, but not realistic!

      @@peter_aka_hamamass You can build this sub with very little tools actually.
      A drill , ( even a hand turned non powered one will do ) a good hand saw ,
      and perhaps a electric jig saw . It would just take more time and care.
      It`s how most things were made years ago. Some of us have forgotten , but many never knew in the first place.

    dumpster fire of wiring techniques. Not tinning wires and so many others, but my favorite is putting solder on the through holes for a power or speaker wire and then surface mounting them. The through holes are there for a reason.

    • @samohraje2433
      @samohraje2433 5 років тому

      Yes this is powerfull enough for home use bcz this subwoofer has 40W and is tuned (according to the pipe how long it is) to around 36Hz which is really good. But my choise will be the slightly stronger subwoofer with slightly bigger enclosure ( longer for longer pipe ). for 2.1 set the 70W subwoofer would be enough. I have set of 1x600W subwoofer , 1X 800W subwoofer , 3X 60W mid-range speakers only for mid ( loud asf ), 2X 40W and 4X 20 tweeters. Every single speaker is perfectly balanced for my room and my hearing ability with digital 24bit equaliser.
