Urban Arizona Catfishing! (Underwater Catfish Footage)

- Urban Arizona catfishing! These ponds were just stocked with channel catfish, so it was time I headed out to try my luck!
Urban fishing is something I have always loved, so why not throw the underwater camera down there to see what was around.
The underwater catfish footage turned out great! This pond was very clear, as most of arizonas fishing ponds are.
We saw some awesome channel catfish, panfish, and even trout down there! Chicken liver attracts all kinds of species!
My go catfish bait has always been garlic flavored chicken liver, and as you can see it did produce us a few channel catfish.
However, the clear pond water was making the fish a bit weary, and they soon stopped biting the bait after catching some of them.
The Arizona department of fish does a great job at stocking the community ponds with fish, so if you can, get out there and catch some!
I hope you all enjoyed me catfishing Arizona! And I hope you enjoyed the underwater catfish footage! By the way the name of the underwater camera I was using is called the Gofishcam!

Love this footage….binge watching tonight!!!
Watch away! Thank you man 🎣🎣
@@TheFishinMagician20if I may when farm raised catfish goes near lake havasu city, I will collect all of these catfishes to do the farm raised catfish at the golf course to sell catfish for 20 dollars.
Respect for you offering the fish.
Some people genuinely are looking forward to a fish dinner and get skunked.
I always try to see if someone wants a fish I won’t keep as long as it’s within reason.
my guess would be the electrical output of the camera is deterring the catfish due to the sensitivity of their whiskers. this would at least partially explain why your other rod with the same bait got bit while the camera one only got basic attention.
Finnaly someone who knows something
@@Eli_straughan_fishing guess you can finally get on your knees
That is some of the best underwater footage that I have seen. Great job man. Beautiful channel cat.
Thank you man, it is so fun seeing them move around down there
Great footage to learn the mannerisms of the Channel Cats.
I use to fish veteran oasis about 10 years ago when i lived out there. I would catch the bluegills and use them as cut bait, it did pretty well, other times i wouldn't catch anything. But the underwater action is super dope!!
Mark that was absolutely awesome brother..man you are leading the way keep it rollin..appreciate you and what you do brother..👊🏼
Your the man bobby, thank you for the continued support brother
Excellent video quality in that water man. Awesome

That’s crazy bro. Keep it up!
Thanks! I sure will
Thank you so much for showing me how to catch catfish I love eating catfish but I don’t know how to catch them . Thank you 🙏
Absolutely! Yea hanks for watching
Another fun video to watch! I feel like with a small piece of chicken liver these catfish would bite more. But that means rebating often because of the pan fish:). Fish on Magician!
Maybe so 🤷🏽♂️I think it was just an off day. Those panfish are ruthless lol
Some of the best footage I've seen. I jist started fishing the past few weeks. What pond is this?
I appreciate it man 👍🏼👍🏼 this is Veterans Oasis
Awesome footage
Thank you Kev 👊🏼
Thanks mark enjoyed brother have a good day

Looks like some giant bream!!

Thanks James 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Just silt bottom with no cover or structure?
The fish up here love garlic
Nice video fish on🪝🎣💪❤️🙏
such good content. Keep it up man!
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
I put the liver out in the sun about 12 minutes each side easier to stay on the hook
Great footage! Where is that pond located? I would love to go fish there. Keep up the great work. I really enjoy your underwater footage!
This is in Gilbert AZ, thanks for watching!
Veteran’s Oasis Park, Chandler, AZ.
Try putting a small foam bobber about 4 inches behind the bait. Keeps the bait above the mud
That’s awesome!
Thanks! It was a lot of fun to make
What pods are you using
Great vid my brotha hey u should do a vid on using cut blue gill in the canal wonder what u would catch maybe a monster channel thanks for ur time brotha
Thanks for watching man! Oh I definitely will, I have apt planned for this year 👍🏼👍🏼
My go to pond :)
That was my first time there, cool little
Place!
@@TheFishinMagician20 Yes, there is a lot more than just fishing nearby. I'll just stop right here, so I don't inadvertently disclose the location 😅
@@gutshotaz2805 😂😂
2:23 no wonder why my hook be clean after a while, the small fries be pick my bait off
What camera is this
What kind of camera are you using?
Great video bro what pond is this we would love to fish this one
This was some great footage. Strange how the catfish reacted to the liver. Maybe try a shrimp??
Yea it was weird! I think it was just an off day. I am not sure what everyone else was using but they weren't catching either. I think next time i will bring a few more options
For catfish track should be loose or tight.tell me the hook size.First of all i like your way of fishing and ur videos.very excellent.
Nice vid! What pound test do you use ?
This was 17 I believe
Salam kenal dari indonesia dan bagus banget lokasi tempat untuk memancing ikannya
Can't wait 🤟😎
Me either
I had an awesome trip this weekend with Chris from Fishing is Therapy. It was an epic day
What’s the name of the pond?
Awesome video man.oasis is super pressured,I've been there 4 times .only have only caught one trout and one catfish through the trips. Glad to see you had better luck
I can tell lol, people were lined up by the time I left. I timed the stock right so I think that’s why I managed the 2. Thanks for watching 👍🏼👍🏼
What urban pond were you fishing at please tell me
The urban one
Hey Tom. This is a urban lake not his secret spot. This is Veterans Oasis Lake
really nice lake to fish. Ill be there this weekend with my son. He loves fishing for bluegill
What urban lake is that?
Veterans Oasis Lake
Love the clear water. All we have in Indiana is mud pits :-(
Man that’s rough! Glad you could enjoy this one tho!
I’ve been getting back to catfishing after years. I’ve been using muddyriver’s liver marinaded chicken. It’s confusing how they bite. Some days it’s massive takedowns with a lot of drops and a few hookups, a lot of light bites, swimming towards us, that turned out to be multiple pound cats. Some days it’s all light bites. I don’t get it 🤪
Fishing closed bail btw with a plastic slider. I wonder if their tail slaps the line after the take and jerk the bait right out or spook themselves. I may try a longer leader to give them a little more slack before they feel anything
I caught a fat channel cat today on plain chicken. I use the cheapest cut and freeze it for reuse later. I spend very little on bait.
Chicken is an amazing bait
Cool video bro
Thank you brother 👊🏼
Man that is some great underwater footage that's pretty cool how you do that. The one that didn't have the recorder on it, the black real what was the name of that baitrunner?
I appreciate it man! That there is the okuma ceymar! Great reel
How much feet deep?
i use cut chicken breast socked in Blended garlic chicken liver and that help out whit keeping bluegill form eating it all
Nice I may give that a shot
what pond is this?
Veterans
Great footage! What underwater camera/setup that you used?
Thanks! This was the gofishcam 👍🏼 I have another video of how I set it up
@@TheFishinMagician20 sweet, I love the underwater footage
Nice camera.. I usually fish at night.. is that camera work at night..???
Yes it sure does 👍🏼
Hey man. Are you near Yuma?
I am in Phoenix
@@TheFishinMagician20 Cool. Do you ever fish near Ehrenberg, Arizona for stripper? I, unfortunately, live in El Centro, but love AZ! IMHO strippers and tons of fun on the river.
@@goodtalker I haven’t! Agreed tho striper are tons of fun
They are tasting or feeling something on your line. Possibly even your camras electric current.
I personally dont like chicken livers for channel cats, that's better for blues. You will def catch em, but I always catch little kittens under 5 lbs
for channel cats, i just use trout power dough and i jam a bunch of mealworms on it, and i get better cats than the dudes next to me using stuff like stinkbait.
It's because channels arent really scavengers like blues, they become almost exclusively predatory when they reach larger sizes. The problem is they remember baits that hooked them, so if you throw one back after catching it on one particular scent, it will likely avoid it for years, just like carp do. very very smart fish
It'd be sweet if you tried that out in one of your future videos. You can also buy commercial catfish pellets and just use those, since they were raised on them.
I love em for channels and blues. I have had luck with both of en. Most the stocked fish here are under 5lbs. I have to disagree with you on the channels not being scavengers. I think the ones here almainly scavenger fish because they are in a hatchery. The ones that survive long enough in ponds may develop some predatory tendencies but only some. Also I do t think they really remember baits. I have caught the fish fish a few times here in the ponds, so if they hungry enough they’ll eat it
DIGGIN THE CAMERA ACTION🤙🤙🤙THOSE BLUEGILL LOOK BIG🦈🦈🦈SHOULD CATCH ONE N CUT IT UP FOR BAIT🤔🤔
next time! Thanks for the support bro
Use some power bait nugget things for trout
Geez those bluegills acted like piranhas
If the bluegills are legal bait that's what I would be using. Definitely a natural bait in there for the cats
they are legal, but the fish stocked in this pond are pellet fed. they prefer stinky smelly baits, but im sure the ones that are held over from the stock for a while adapt to eating gills
I use fried chicken skin from the Albertsons deli on a treble hook. I would love to see you try that and see the results on your channel. It will catch bass, flathead, carp and channel cats. I use it in the Colorado River, works great!
Nice! I will have to give that one a shot
Cut Blue Gill would kill it there. It's something natural in that environment. Garlic Liver maybe not so much. Or maybe they felt the added weight? Who knows
i would agree but these were pellet fed catfish freshly stocked. usually stinky baits do the best at first, but holdover fish will definitely hit a gill if its been long enough
That looks like the conservation park
Nope, veterans oasis
Try worms in pond they work great here
Make a video but try raw chicken w strawberry koolaid n garlic salt ull big ones
Shoot, turn those panfish into cut bait if it's allowed!
Man if I still lived there I would!
I live in Phoenix az. When in Mesa az I bought an "urban" fishing license only to be disapointed. The city announced the stocking dates so it's all fished out in one or two days. After 7 trips without a bite I gave up. Good luck though
Yea it goes pretty quick forsure. I wish more people would catch and release.
Do a cricket challenge, crickets for bait.
I have been pondering that lately
@@TheFishinMagician20 if you do happen to try out it on the camera pole 😎. Supposedly the channel cats like crickets
This video makes me wonder if the catfish are sensitive to the electromagnetic energy from the camera. I know that sounds crazy but they have chemoreceptors all over their bodies. I'd also like to see if you have better success with a bait that is floated off the bottom slightly. They all have to go down and scoop it rather than gulp and run. Have you ever tried dog treats as bait?
That is very possible! I have toyed around with floating something off the bottom , I just need to do it
Maybe catch some small bluegill and use them live..... Or some chunked up..
I may try that next time
You ought to try it without the garlic. That smell sends most creatures away completely. Fish like blood, and meat. Plain raw guts or meat parts.
I have tried without and with, but find I get more bites with the garlic. I wouldn't say garlic sends creatures away either. Garlic is a popular scent for trout, salmon, bass, catfish, and a variety of others.
What u said here is not true at all. I catch catfish with Walmarts whole corn kernels all the time
Buddy if that were the case the hatchery's wouldn't feed the fish garlic scented foods and shrimp and anise baits but a know it all like you wouldn't know would you
You need to get some surgical netting for your liver you tie end put liver inside and tie other end off and put on hook! If you can find fresh chicken liver you don’t need anything to hold it on it is tougher than that frozen store crap
All the liver I have ever got from the store has been fresh not frozen. And I know there’s a lot of ways to kee it on, but I prefer a natural appearance. These fish are already resilient to bite, so I wanna give them the most raw form of the bait to do so. Pantyhose and surgical tubing do great, but I just prefer natural
Catch those bluegill and use them for bait.
I had good luck with stink bait balls you can get it from Walmart
I have seen those before, never had any luck. I’m going to try them again tho , this is veterans oasis
@@TheFishinMagician20 ok I never fish that lake is it close to Scottsdale. I was a coach for the Giants so after practice I would go fishing
Catch some of those trout an us them for cut bate
Not allowed to here
@@TheFishinMagician20 then them bluegill
so now I know for certain because I see it in action. that it's those pesky bluegills eating my chicken off the hook.
actually it is a bullhead fish
4:20 *Dirty mind has entered the chat*
Why don't you say what urban pond you are fishing it sure would make your veiwers a lot happier at least I would be happy 😊
I just never want to be responsible for burning a spot if I can help it. I’ve seen social media over the years ruin places to fish so I didn’t wanna join that club.
asks the dude a mile away if he wants it throw that baby in and let it grow a monster let people earn their fish
The hook and bait is too big...
Are you an actual magician
Once upon a time yes
Saw your car
👀 your the first to see it and leave a comment! Thanks for checking me out 🎣🎣
Just buy some spider thread
I had ran out, had to improvise lol
catfish don't like garlic
The biggest lie ever told 😅
Typical channel cat behavior, pick at it then ignore it.
You should try raw shrimp, works quite well. Jumbo shrimp = Jumbo cats!
