2:43 "My name is Alice- I mean Violet...and I worked for the Umbrella Corporration--I mean I was born in a world you may not understand." Seriously...it starts JUST LIKE A Resident Evil sequel movie.
And didn't Alice get two of her fingers cut off in one of the _Resident Evil_ sequels? And Mila's character was a Mary Sue in those as well, but at least they had the excuse of being made by her husband. This is just gratuitous on top of gratuity.
her body is always the star. she cant act for shit. she gets hired cuz she's hot and thats a bigger money maker for women than acting ability. she did alright in The Fifth Element, but I always wonder what it would have been like with a better actress.
True, and even in movies where the hero mows down dozens of baddies, like in Commando, Total Recall, Rambo after First Blood, and the John Wick movies, the main characters are interesting for the most part.
Episode notes: Originally produced in February 2011, this is a heavily re-cut version that loses 1m 57s from it's original running time. Again, this is mostly due to the severe trimming of clips in order for it to comply with UA-cam (including several instances where I've moved voiceover), but there's also quite a bit of tightening here as well, many of which are mere frames (again, another former Windows Movie Maker episode that had a small pass in Vegas the first time around). Enjoy!
They're around on DailyMotion, but I've wanted these available on UA-cam myself. The only ones I'm currently not taking a chance on right now is titles from Fox (so sadly episodes like Epic Movie or Bride Wars are off the table for now).
OH, you mean the Resident Evil movies, oh wait, this was a thing too for 3 minutes. Film Brain, I'm sorry you had to take the bullet and watch this junk for us. WE SALUTE YOU, KIND SIR!
I hated how much of a unstoppable Mary Sue Violet was. She was in no real danger at all, nobody was a strong challenge for her. Even characters like Superman, Goku, etc. have had moments of vulnerability.
Apparently none of you listen to her cause she already said she's dead in so many hours and so she's very aggressive in taking down as many as possible before she dies
I often have to ask in stupid movies like this, if the hero is so uber-powerful and unstoppable... how is there conflict in the first place? Why could a regime like this happen when ONE woman can easily kill hundreds of guards? Oh and the movie never explains how only Violet is this powerful, not all hemophages - who oddly, die just as easily as any humans.
Milla Jovovich (Playing her exact same role from the Resident Evil series) and Cameron Bright (Playing his exact same role from X-Men: The Last Stand) star in... Cool Poses: The Movie!
20:14 "It's right up there with Immortal Bum-Murderer Charles Dickens" Jesus Christ, what episode of _Bad Movie Beatdown_ did I miss that had *THAT* in it?
I got this movie confused with the equally bad "Eon Flux". The whole time I was watching, I wondered why you weren't mentioning the woman with hands for feet.
Dude I clicked on this, high as balls, watched the intro and was like omg this couldn’t get even better and then I heard your accent and I was like omg it got even better 😂😂😂👏👏👌👌👌👌
The whole "invincible hero" thing can work as a wish fulfilment type of character, but they need to be interesting enough to make up for the fact that the audience knows they're never going to lose in combat. It's an incredibly hard balance to get right, and one that writers who attempt it more often than not seem to fail at.
The best way is to pump up how flashy/extravagant/powerful they are (The "Yes, the hero is invincible, now watch them basketball spin a castle" explanation, where they're so powerful that even if the fight is "unfair" it's still fun to watch them work) and Wimmer...just doesn't get anywhere close to that point. His stuff lacked either tension OR spectacle.
5:56 to 6:02 That's also the same reaction when Milla Jovovich had reacted to this movie. She actually regretted doing this movie, by the way, in case no one knows.

I first saw Ultraviolet when I was visiting some beloved relatives I hadn't seen in years. They put the movie on and it was so atrocious that I cut the visit short rather than watch it with them. THAT'S HOW BAD IT IS!!!
I never found Milla Jovovich particularly attractive.....shes not ugly but not the knockout everyone acts like....same as Gwyneth Paltrow....and Jennifer Lawrence Kate Beckinsal NOW THATS BEAUTY!
2:07 - 2:39 The opening comic book panels give a certain Buckaroo Banzai feel where, as Kyle Garren from Brows Held High put, it wants you to believe this single story exists as the only chapter of a cinematic universe, and wants you to believe these other stories of Violet's continuing adventures in the intro exist. However, unlike Buckaroo Banzai, I could care less about the story of Ultraviolet continuing or looking for further issues of her adventures. Unless maybe checking the Ultraviolet anime series, but even that's unlikely.
Hobestly I feel like there was some potential in this movie somewhere. The script is complete garbage, but I’d like to see what could have been done with a better edit and more expensive cgi. Also had the film been hyper-violent kinda like 300 or V for Vendetta. Seems like a bit of a product of it’s time too, Elektra suffered from similar problems, as did other more expensive movies like The Matrix Reloaded. I’ve definitely gone off the oversaturated 00s look.
This movie is flat gibberish. How the mighty and evil vampire has fallen. Give me a Christopher Lee-Peter Cushing vampire movie any day over this. When did it become canon that there must be a bazillion vampires all over the place? Putting in lots of vampires spares the writer and director the energy of creating and developing the true cold malice of a single character. Blade works well, because a single somewhat evil character is crafted--Blade himself.
Movie was fun enough to watch in the background as I worked. I really just liked looking at Milla be sexy in shots. I appreciated the color scheme of the film too, going from mirror's edge looking to all white to black/red and fire-y. It's allright if you don't take the movie too seriously and can laugh at the old CG
Is Milla Jojovich only accepting movie roles when she can play unbeatable superhuman Mary Sues? Seems like it... I saw this movie and started rooting for the bad guys pretty soon, they had as much chance against Violet as stormtroopers trying to shoot a fish in a barrel.
Type-casting gets the work I guess. You could check out her role in "Stone" which stars Robert DeNiro and Edward Norton but not sure how much you'd get out of that, but hey she's not a Mary-Sue there
It's a good thing towards the end of the second-act Daxxus was plotting the biggest terroristic-gouging plan with this child. Otherwise all those kills the main character committed all before that point might have made the protagonist look horrible given she was killing thousands of soldiers all to protect a near-dead-anyway race of diseased humans.
I dunno man, I like those visuals. Also, not having seen anything else from the creators of the movie, it was actually pretty cool the first time around. I had totally forgotten about what the heck it was actually about. Had a good time watching your video and remembering all the silly stuff.

True, and even in movies where the hero mows down dozens of baddies, like in Commando, Total Recall, Rambo after First Blood, and the John Wick movies, the main characters are interesting for the most part.

He is good at making a film entertaining like Equilibrium and Law Abiding Citizen minus Ultraviolet
This film is a perfect example of how NOT to make an action movie.
