This was NOT part of Metrolinx service expansion. There was a parade downtown and RADs (Run-as-directed service) was in place. This was also why a large amount of 10 and 12 car trains were operated on the Barrie and Stouffville.
I believe this was for the Toronto Carribbean Carnival grande parade on Saturday August 3rd 2024. Typically there is currently no weekend Milton GO train services, but I believe that all day everyday 2 way service is in the works.
It's been "in the works" for how many years now? When is Metrolinx going to understand that not every Milton line rider (1) works a job that requires rush hour trains or (2) has the time to drive to the Lakeshore line?
@ngarcia103 Been planned for over 20 years, Metrolinx understands it quite well. The problem is Canadian Pacific abd their opposition to passenger service on their mainline.
It's only for if there's event's in Toronto but yes, they are right now planning all day GO transit service. GO Transit did do something like this in 2022, and 2023 at very few times or events btw on this line.
Nice railfanning at streetsville go station
