- The Elan E6 is a big 47-footer, high and beamy and one that leans more towards spirited cruising with generous accommodation over racing. Toby Hodges takes it for a quick sail to find how it performs

Lovely boat, they Elan team are really on point at the moment with stunning new yachts. They'd be at the top of my shopping list. ❤
so many boat builders don't round there corners like this company does and i love it, looks great.
Thank you Toby. Such a great reviewer of boats.
A pleasure, thank you!
What can I say. That’s a beauty.
what a dream woahh!!! i m happy that some people can buy a boat like this
Boats like this need to be tested over days in tough conditions, especially downwind in big seas. I can't see that huge volume and stern being managed by an autopilot, let alone by a vane. For crew sanity when cruising, minimising time on the helm is vital, managing power usage on autopilot is also critical.
My perfect boat! Too bad my unperfect budget.
The interior design was great. I like plenty of bottle storage and high ceilings. I’m taller.
Great boat!
Thanks for the presentation! I think the target audience for this Elan is some new-rich with F1-hotel level design taste.
what is she gonna do in heavy conditions. I wonder???
The more I see the classic winch layout after seeing RMs inboard winches, the more I ask myself why not everybody is doing it that way.
So You like RM or vice versa?
@@sandrahildebrand4475 yes, I very much like the way RM places the winches.
What's optimal for short handed cruising isn't always optimal for a cruiser racer.
The RM is aimed more at cruisers, this boat will appeal more to racers who may also cruise a little.
Why do you always test boats without spray hood? Nobody uses them like that. Even bimini tops are used to protect from the sun and rain...
I think because they are new boats and haven't been fitted by owners yet
I always use my boat without a bimini
What a nice boat. What is the top speed?
LWL = 14.10 meters, so hull speed is 9.114 knots - and she looks like she'll do it easily.
Love the design and the inside but it's a shame to see rust on a brand new boat :

Stainless steel is to expensive.... ?
That is pretty shoddy.
@@mikaelgarton372 I'm sure it is, but I wouldn't put it past some yards to put in lower grade stainless to save money, 304 for instance.
@@TheAegisClaw No it's not 304. Are you kidding me?
@@mikaelgarton372 I started sailing at 5 years old when my parents bought their first sailingboat (I am 50 now).
Rust is rust. So, it is not 100% stainless steele. Maybe 304 or somthing like that.
Greeting from France.
@@mikaelgarton372 The Elan E6 was launched in 2022. So this boat is less than 1 year old. If your councider that rust is normal, personally i don't.
Warning -- As soon as I heard the word "sail drive" I walked away. NOT interested.
