Definitely have enjoyed the faux flowers this year. I’ve embraced them in strategic areas of the house. You gave great tips for finding the best options
Great video!! I found the most beautiful pink peonies online recently and I'm so happy I bought them! They perk up the look of my tiny senior apartment. I gotta say, there was a time I would never have considered buying them. I say yes to faux, but only with the proper petals!
Never disappoint. I have looked at magazines for years and thought, “What a beautiful bedroom but where is the clock?” They just weren’t practical. You are. You help us to have a beautiful home and allow people to enjoy it. I have been in homes that felt more like museums and even if I were wealthy I would still want my home to be hospitable. Thank you for what you do.
I have always been a NO Faux, but recently I have seen some that I have had to actually touch to see if they are real, and it has peaked my interest. So, now I am on the hunt for some faux florals to add to my decor. Thanks for the informative video.
I say YES! to faux flowers. I used to be an all natural flower girl too, until I hosted a charity event on a very small budget at my local community college. I mixed faux flowers with real flowers to create more of an impact throughout the event space and it was lovely. I'm currently selling my house and have placed faux hydrangeas intermixed with my current blooming hydrangeas from my garden! Thanks for your video!
Brilliant extension of the benefit budget Sue! Best of luck in selling your house. That can be stressful. I hope it is all smooth sailing for you. Thanks for taking the time to watch and to join in the conversation.
Yes , have been using them for years. I buy the ones you can' t tell. More cost effecient and if you have allergys.i also think some are just arrogant about these things. You know some cant afford fresh flowers all over there home all the time. I buy as a gift to myself sometimes .
I have this same dilemma. I live in a very rural area with lots of free, real foliage from spring through fall. Plus, I'm an avid flower gardener; however, there are so many gorgeous options out there right now. I think if you change them out often and pick the prettiest, most real-looking ones, it's a yes! Thanks for another good video.
Useful video. For those of us who are fiscally constrained and allergic but love flowers - faux flowers to the rescue. I've bought faux flowers for years, and like to re-organize, re-design, and often trimming and pruning them just like one would do with real flowers. The Pottery Barn near me has lovely faux flowers, as does the Crate and Barrel - my tip is to watch for sales. They are a worthwhile investment.
Yes - great tip! I bet as the stores turn to fall decor, the spring/summer faux flowers will be on sale. Also working with fauxs as if they are real is a wonderful idea!
If it’s the real touch faux flowers they are worth the extra money. They look real. Have you ever seen Farmgirl flowers out of California? They make beautiful real flowers arrangement and ship them to you.
The faux flowers in your video are beautiful Indeed. However, so much in our world is fake these days and when I look at a faux flower, no matter how pretty it is, I still see something fake. I’d much rather have a handful of wildflowers in a pretty glass of water. No fake flowers for me… But I love your videos! 🌸
I have been decorating a home in Dover Massachusetts for many yearsI use faux flowers. I sometimes use real moss and sticks etc. . I would love to share some pictures of the mantles that I have done. Would you be interested in seeing them. If so where can I share?
I always have to have flowers in every room, (except for my boys room growing up), so I have always had faux, even when it seemed most people were not doing them! It would be impossible to keep real through out the house! I also have 5 faux orchids that I move around the house depending on the season. I do treat myself to fresh occasionally, my food for the eyes! 😁🌸🌺🌿
Flowers are such a wonderful way to lift one's spirits, but if you live on a budget, and in an area where summer is short, faux flowers are a God's send. I use real when I can, who wouldn't, but when faux is my only option, I use good quality and change them out weekly to eliminate dust collecting and to make the faux seem more real. Thank you Kelly.
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed the video. ( re: volume I just got a new mic we are working on the right settings - thx for the feedback. It is helpful! )
I'm a flowers lover for sure but unfortunelly in Canada the summer is too short. For me faux is just like 3 dimensions photos. It's doesn't smell at all but their are so much advantage compare to real flowers. Absoluetely yes!
I think faux can work well in certain places, esp. tucking a few small faux potted plants in & around real ones for a more lush look. Also - faux looks more real when it's seasonally appropriate: forsythia blooms in early spring, right before spring bulbs like tulips & daffs, while daisies and dahlias will come along later in summer, etc.
Faux flowers have become the great imposters. A good one looks so real. While I love fresh flowers who has the time to change the water, cut them back, etc. There also are allergy sensitivities from people in my home and studio, so real flowers isn’t an option.
Yes. But I do try and get nice ones. I tried to make a succulent garden in a glass dish. I was unsuccessful with the succulents so I replaced with fakes but keep the dirt, moss and little statue Looks real. Looks great
I am a new subscriber and so enjoy your videos, your style and flair. I have been intrigued by the return of faux flowers....the high quality of these newcomers is impressive. I wanted to suggest to you and your community the online source of wisteria.com. They are offering high end faux flowers and arrangements and often have attractive sales. Cheers!
Hi Elise, Welcome!! I have been intrigued too - hence the podcast & video. Wisteria is a great source for all kinds of home decor. I haven't seen their faux florals. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for this great info. I shied away from faux because I didn't know how to find really great ones. Now that you have shared what to look for, I will use them more. One thing I do when I do use them is to use them seasonally....so if it's in bloom outside, it's ok, otherwise I put them away. Binging your videos and blog...love them !!!
Yes to faux. You answered my burning question. I love them but they were out of fashion for so long. I just started reincorporating them into my home and I am loving them.
I just started incorporating faux succulents into my home decor. Our living room is darker, so it is hard to get real plants to live and thrive. Thanks for the tip about running them under water to dust them!
I’ve had faux greenery up in places where it’s harder for me to reach and in a few other places throughout the house. I wish I could keep real plants alive but I kill everything. Lately I’ve been thinking about getting rid of most of my faux plants though. I’ve went through a grieving/depression period in the last year or two and I stopped noticing the thick layers of dust accumulating on everything especially the plants. The cleaning was harder than just simply dusting and now that I’ve seen what huge dust magnets they are, I was thinking that getting rid of them might make everything feel cleaner and fresher.
Like many things faux flowers have a shelf life. I think you are right to clear those out and if later on you want to add a few new ones they will be fresh. Getting the "cobwebs" out os always a good idea! Thanks for watching...
My Soulful Home Thank you! I just subscribed today and I’m about to watch a few more of your videos and hopefully get inspired to do a few more things before the day is over!
Before I retired, I worked in the Pasadena Playhouse District and would spend many a lunch hour at Jacob Maarse Florists looking for design inspiration. Then it was off to STATS on Raymond to find the perfect faux flowers. Now that Stats no longer exists, it's nice to know about Diane James. Great video!
I LOVE Jacob Maarse! I have worked with them on many a benefit for my daughters' schools. Glad you know you are right here & watching! Have a great day - supposed to be cooling off. Phew!!
Some of love real flowers and i get them at times.i also have real plants. But most of the time it isent cost effective to buy real. I have fake that people think are real.also good for allergys.dont be a snob please
LOL...I guessed the wrong peony for being FAUX! Yes to faux and yes to changing them up or moving them to different location in your home. I am headed over to check “Diane James Florals” out. So great to see another video from you..... truly enjoy every one!
Thank you for the tips on cleaning. I say yes to faux. I love fresh flowers. But faux flowers have come a long way. I don’t like the really cheap plastic ones. Thank you for sharing and your generous giveaway.
Hi Kelly! I said yes to faux flowers 😜 My sister had the same experience with her faux orchid... she was out of town, and her mother in law was watering the fake orchid 😂 It was so funny when her mother in law told us. Thank you so much for the video! 💖
I've said yes for years. But, I am very particular about the flowers, stems, as you pointed out. I miss faux with real a lot too. Thanks for the video.
I’ve used faux flowers for years! Remember, they are an investment. Buy the best you can afford. You won’t regret it. Hope I win! White peonies are my mother’s favorite.
Great way to look at it! Think about a $10 fresh bouquet 1x a week for a year that is $520. You can get a stunning faux arrangement for less than that - so the way I do shopping math buying one is actually saving! :)
I love faux and have quite a number of faux arrangements around my house. Believe it or not I picked up beautiful faux peonies on clearance at Walmart just yesterday. On another note entirely, you have the most gorgeous thick hair!
Yes, I have faux flowers. I had some amazing yellow daffodils I put in a cobalt blue vase that cheered me up in spring for a few years. I use faux green plants mixed in with some real plants in a basket on my kitchen island. Thanks for the information Kelly.
Thank you for posting. I used to be a flower snob, but no more. I have even purchased some from the $$ tree and incorporated with my higher quality fauxs. Looked pretty good! Liked you advice on purchasing.
Hi Dollie - Thanks for watching! Yes the cabinets & walls are the same white. The walls are a velvet finish & the cabinets semi-gloss. The color is Ben Moore Simply White. My all time favorite warm white. I used it almost everywhere in this house. Hope that helps!
My grandmother's green thumb not yet having shown up in my life, definitely yes to faux. Thanks for the tips on recognizing better quality as well as gently blow drying!
I say yes to faux if they look good. I'm glad they get your seal of approval when done right! People think many of mine are rea which I love. Have you tried Silk Thumb? They do beautiful work.
Hi Kim - the arrangements are an investment in beauty! Think of it this way, if you purchased one live arrangement like a DJH it would be well over $100 and would last a week. So over the course of time, the arrangements costs you a lot less than real florals.
Of course, it is personal, but for me... nothing faux is good... if you can't maintain the real thing then just don`t go for it... the result is always cheap... same with ceramic that mimics wood or fake marble. I have the same feeling when I read advice on "how to make your house look more expensive". The best advice is to be humble, honor what you have and embrace that beauty. there's a difference between inspiration and aspiration. Great video!
I have always loved faux but am picky about quality. So glad you pointed out there IS a difference. Also, some people really over do. I think it’s classier to have a few high end fauxs then a house full of low quality ones. Thank you for the great tutorial! 💐
My Soulful Home I did - Thank you. I am so glad I stumbled across your channel. So many of the home decor UA-camrs all look the same. Like an IKEA showroom. There is Nothing wrong with that if that is your taste however I like my home to reflect unique and vintage pieces that reflect my travels and the people that have been in my life. Super love your video on “brown” furniture. That video may just save a beautiful wood heirloom piece from a early paint death.
Thanks so much for sharing! Faux flowers have been apart of my home Decor for more than thirty years. With a few mistakes along the way I learned pretty quick which are the best and those that just collect dust 😄! Faux gets a yes from me and your flowers were beautiful!! 🌺🌼🌹
Definitely have enjoyed the faux flowers this year. I’ve embraced them in strategic areas of the house. You gave great tips for finding the best options
Glad the tips are useful to you Melissa. Thanks for watching!
Great video!! I found the most beautiful pink peonies online recently and I'm so happy I bought them! They perk up the look of my tiny senior apartment. I gotta say, there was a time I would never have considered buying them. I say yes to faux, but only with the proper petals!
Yes, exactly Pam with the right faux... Glad you found the perfect pink peonies!
Never disappoint. I have looked at magazines for years and thought, “What a beautiful bedroom but where is the clock?” They just weren’t practical. You are. Wow, I'm in Pasadena too and was thinking about going to Pottery Barn to look at faux flowers but didn't want to deal with the parking. Great video.
Parking is tough! I am usually lucky on Green but it is meters. 😀
Yes , have been using them for years. I buy the ones you can' t tell. More cost effecient and if you have allergys.i also think some are just arrogant about these things. You know some cant afford fresh flowers all over there home all the time. I buy as a gift to myself sometimes .

I've said yes for years. But, I am very particular about the flowers, stems, as you pointed out. I miss faux with real a lot too. Thanks for the video.

Lasting beauty that is the take away! Thx for watching.

Are your cabinets the same color as the walls?
What is the color and paint that you used
Hi Dollie - Thanks for watching! Yes the cabinets & walls are the same white. The walls are a velvet finish & the cabinets semi-gloss. The color is Ben Moore Simply White. My all time favorite warm white. I used it almost everywhere in this house. Hope that helps!

Silk thumb - that is clever Kelly! Thanks for watching.
most of the time it's No
Really depends on the quality of the flowers..
Sorry. Just can’t put a faux flower in my house. They are beautiful. Just can’t.
Totally respect that Glenda - that is how I felt for years. Thanks for coming by!
Yes to faux.
Thumb's up Shelley!
I love your honesty!
I’m trying to redo and update so I’m starting with a flower arrangement for inspiration!
Great place to start Jeanne! Thank you for coming by ...
Just checked prices for Diane James faux florals and nearly had a heart attack!
