This video was a ton of fun to make, I think it's one of my better ones so hoping it picks up a bit more than usual but I guess we'll see! Also by the way if you want to get yourself one of the handheld gameboy devices I have they're available for pre-order here: modretro.com?sca_ref=7009835.Z9L3f6GMUt7Vy5E&
I'm 31, I went to film school, I've been working in marketing for the past 4-5 years in Content Management, Copywriting and Creation, and I gotta say man, you really do have a talent (or at least it shows like that, it could've been hard work), for storytelling, editing and even shooting. I'm just starting my game dev/designer journey on a personal project and this inspired me. Can't wait to see how you keep evolving your channel and skills!
Great editing and nice storytelling. The fact you climbed a tree and had a drone establishing shot flyby, just for an interview bit, was fun and interesting. As a portable gaming enthusiast (and a retro game fan), I just wanted to let you know that this video slaps and I love to see younger people enjoying a big part of my childhood as much as I did.
Bro I saw you at VidSummit and who would’ve thought you were CASUALLY MAKING A GAME LOLOLOL Anyways dude, that was an awesome video. You always go so hard with the edits and filmmaking- it really inspires me. Keep killing it bro 🍇
It seems like the youtube algotrithm has gifted me a rare diamond in the rough channel. Dude your channel is crazy I cant wait to watch what you make next!
I dont know why i got showed your Videos in my feed, but your filmmaking skills are insane man. Hope you will get more views and stuff in future and can make good money with your skills :)
this is the first video of you i have seen, and i am super impressed by the video concept, script, and editing! Also, you are actually making a game, which is so cool
What a spectacular video! Really broke the mold for the stereotypical “devlogs” you see about games. Can’t wait to see more of your work, and more of Seaford!
UA-cam just showed me this, and I gotta say, you have a lot of talent, the edition it’s awesome and the creativity to made the game was outstanding. You have a new subscriber ☺️.
Video is really well done man, and great effort with the game! Lil seagul is looking great! Software looks quite fun tempted to make a mini okeyjay platformer now... aha
Arlo, what a banger again! Top notch camera work and editing! Can't believe how long it must've taken to put this all together, let alone scripting an entire game. :-O Don't know where you've got all your many talents from, but let me tell you, from a guy with no other qualification on this matter than having like a thousand subs, you're one of the top content creators right now. So it kinda hurts to be in the sub 100 views even after 3 hours. YT can be a real grind sometimes and I hope your sub numbers will explode soon. I've just created a patreon account to sub you there and even if I can't give much I hope many others will do the same. Keep it up, all the best to you!
Wow, thank you for the comment! I appreciate it and glad you liked the video. I suspect the views will pick up in the next couple days just because of how similar the packaging and concept is to another one of my videos that did really well but who knows
Arlo you've got very obvious and unique talents and I think you have a bright future as a creator, however I can assist your journey don't hesitate to reach out. Really stellar video, had my full attention the entire time 🙌
2018 I sold a lot of my vintage consoles and vintage games. But I have my Nintendo 64 with games, some Gameboy games and many PSX games left. After that it is newer consoles and games from Gamecube to Nintendo Switch. I also have some retro consoles like NES Classic Mini, SNES Classic Mini, Sega Mega Drive Mini, PlayStation Classic and the two newest Game & Watch.
Yeah what I mean is that when you think of that style of retro game, no major company like Nintendo is making them anymore, but yes super cool to see people keeping retro games alive. I just recently played a gba game called goodboy galaxy, would highly recommend.
@@ArloPedersen totally! We knew what you meant. Large companies are not really making games in that style anymore. Some indie devs are (Sea of Stars, for example) But the real “retro” stuff is in the hands of the community! People like you! It’s very cool and makes me so happy haha
If you like Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, might i suggest Super Mario Land DX and Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins DX? They are full color rom hacks that update the graphics and both even have Luigi as an extra playable character.
The term "Metroidvania" originated from criticism to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the original playstation, when the series adopted the Metroid-like level designs.
Haha, worked on it over the course of like 3-5 months but not full time, so hard to say. A majority of the editing happened in the last week before I posted it
Bro, Inti Creates is right there. Old ex Capcom otaku, who can't into 3D to save their lives, so they keep doing pixel art games. Even their compossers still do chiptunes.
@@kat_lynx yeah fair enough, I concede 🤣 Fun fact: “retro” actually means “in the style of something old” so what we know as retro isn’t (snes etc) it’s just “old”

otherwise try making a superhero comic in a video... just an idea, your editing is so good! your content is underrated
Can you pleas make a video of you finishing the video game
“Nobody makes retro games anymore”…isn’t that an oxymoron? It’s the same as saying “Nobody makes classical music any more”.
It’s also straight up wrong. Homebrew games development is bigger than its ever been.
What that guy said ^^^
