Gentrification is a tough one. I can imagine being annoyed by an invasion, especially if one is not benefiting from it. Now, you two are kind, and respectful of others in their country. I have witnessed the opposite with American tourists. Down right just WRONG in their lack of respect. I can see where the resentment might come from. And that was my experience in Cabo: A bunch of self entitled American's behaving like Karen's and Kyle's!

Stay to tourist areas. A lot of the changes to visas with higher income requirements is because of locals are starting to be displaced by as you said gentrification. I’ve seen videos were bloggers are suggesting and encouraging spat’s to look in the areas where locals live. Thing is the local worker is, as an example, paying $100USD then a Norte americano comes along and offers $200. Now the bartender instead of walking a couple of blocks to work has to take a 20 minute bus ride. They feel there are to many digital nomads.
Reading up on the area... the actual fishing village of Cabo San Lucas wasn't established until 1917 when an American Company moved there, built a platform to fish for tuna and I imagine, an export business soon followed. Much like the German immigrants that moved to Mazatlan and brought their shipping port equipment, establishing prosperous import/export routes as well. Beyond fishing, from what I can tell, tourism wasn't a thing in Cabo until the Mexican government planned for an intentional tourist destination area in the 1970's...attracting many nationals from the mainland of Mexico to come work in that particular industry. So there are numerous families that relocated there for work and/or new business opportunities from other parts of Mexico. The only super old school indigenous history I could find about the area (including most of Baja) dates back before Cortes landed in the 1500's and General Sebastian Vizcaino's coastal expedition in the 1600's.... Maybe this all attributes to the disconnect you felt in the blue collar neighborhoods. The nationals living and working in the area are most likely first or second generation citizens of Cabo San Lucas...newer communities still establishing themselves with a whole lot of northern gringos thrown into the mix! Thanks for sparking my interest in the area...Sorry about the Covid y'all... Keep up the great content ~Salud
Another fun video guys. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Sorry you got sick but very happy you're OK. Bought a retirement property just outside of Cabo and hope to make the move later this year (don't know about the wealthy part but I do have the older male bit down ☺️). Hi Yarbros, sorry to hear the positive results but glad you both are doing well. I had it a few weeks ago ( so they say ). I had no symptoms but did have rapid heart rate and chills. I believe i was severely dehydrated. I'm glad that you were able to find another place quickly and get settled again. Get on some organic zinc supplements and some black seed oil. Love ya'll!🌺. Side note: I about broke a knuckle reaching for one of those tacos.
Those smoothies looked delicious, I would recommend adding some protein and a little fat to balance out the sugar in them. Just a tip since you've mentioned your diet a few times :) Could be some protein powder or greek yogurt for the protein, and some almond butter or avocado, whatever you like in that respect, gotta make it the way you like. Most people wouldn't think to add avocado, but it is game changer. Makes the smoothie taste more like ice cream! Keep up the good job guys
So glad God blessed you guys with the ability to come through it a 2nd time with mild symptoms! And I agree about the avocados in the smoothies; I do it every morning- frozen blueberries, 1/2 avocado, soy milk, protein powder and cacao powder. Tastes like a thick milkshake!
Me and my wife went to Cabo for New years and stayed at the Riu California. Two days before our return trip my wife covid test came up positive 😩. I had to leave her at the resort because my test was negative . She had to stay five days in the resort before they released her. I’ve been seeing many videos of Mexican teens getting upset about the gentrification down in Oaxaca, hopefully everything starts to get resolved, so the natives or the foreigners aren’t pushed out.
Mexicans’ view of foreigners has changed a little bit in the past few years, I believe. These caravans of people coming from all over especially from South and Central America have traveled through a lot of states in Mexico and among them are some immigrants who may feel entitled to be fed and sheltered by Mexico while they make their way towards the US. This may have caused a resentment from Mexican citizens and therefore may have changed their attitude towards an outsider, that is my guess. Gentrification is also a factor because this ‘foreign invasion’ is taking over good real estate but the fact that foreigners can come to Mexico anytime they want but it’s not the case vice versa 🤷🏻♂️✌️
Hi guys, glad you both like that new Airbnb me like it too it's just the perfect size for sure, Um Ryndell you remind me of my brother law, with that grilled 😂 OH and try some hot tea with lemon, honey for the sore throat next time it really works.
