Excellent picks Prof! I would add the Corny Gron zine version as a perfect intro to solo RPGs (which I'm new to) and as a preview to the style of that full book, Beyond Corny Gron.
Thanks for the review and your appreciation shown for my book - especially for putting Beyond Corny Groń among all those respectable gents and their works. What a great place to be! (and psst, gentle viewer - if your eyes were piqued [EDIT: or picked!] by Polish highland-ish woodcut art, you can feed them by visiting one of great US, UK, or EU based FLGS, like Runehammer in Philadelphia, where you can get your own copy of Beyond Corny Groń - but you haven't heard it from me!)
First time I have heard of your game but it looks absolutely fantastic - I'm going to have to check it out. And the art is great - my eyes were definitely piqued!
Cairn is my go to pocket TTRPG. I've introduced several people to the hobby with it and when i'm on the road for work i always bring it along. Actually got a group of suit wearing business execs together in my hotel room for a game one evening. That was a laugh playing a TTRPG with my boss (a VP of a massive corporation) and our business associates. You just never know where/who you'll end up gaming with
A mistake in regard to Cairn: You are NOT dead at 0 HP. Instead, you take damage to your strength and must make a saving throw against the reduced STR ability. On a failure, the character is dying, but can be saved. Characters die, if they are left dying or their strength is reduced to 0 by damage.
I ran a Dragonbane one-shot for my sister and two nephews not long ago. It was a hit. So much so with the youngest (around twelve) that he was reportedly trying to GM his own scattered homebrew game with his friends afterward. Figured I'd buy him a game for such future enterprises. The core box has so much value in it, I just sent him Dragonbane instead of something else. Will see how that goes.
It really is a great value. I steer people towards the box set over the hardcover core rulebook because you get so much more for the price. Only downside is the paperback core book seems to fall apart for a lot of people.

This kind of content and the "how I run my game" is my favorite type of content on the channel. Really appreciate taking the time for these other games.
@@pimc172 as someone from Poland - the ttRPG community here never really got the DnD craze. Warhammer 2e was the biggest system back in the days, then Cthulu and vampire masquerade. DnD has been perceived as too "cute" for as neurotic of a nation as poles, but 5e managed to get some considerable share of the market. Mostly younger folks. Since the whole OSR thing took off it introduced more open style of gaming (railroad being the golden standard for years) while most products are just gloomy enough for us to enjoy. So there's a lot of OSR stuff going on here. It's not mainstream by any means, but I feel like it's way more popular than in the US
