I want to watch so much but when I saw the town map I recognized this is the adventure my dm's running now. Have a like, ill be back in however many sessions.
I love the layout style of these game modules personally. It reminds me of the old TSR modules and how I could keep the map open from the book as I used and referenced the book. I hope the Merry Mushmen continue to use this layout style. Anyhow, great review of the module. I'm a big fan of the Merry Mushmen and have had no regrets at backing their Kickstarters.
The spanish edition of Mausritter has the cover/GM screen! Our version of the book is stapled instead of the english hardcover, but having a small and portable GM Screen always attached to the book is great. I love it, everytime I grab the book I think it's a fantastic idea and more books should do it.
I went to sleep reading "Ragged Hollow Nightmare" last night. I've been plugging the Dungeon Age stuff into my home DCC campaign. Then this video pops up, and I'm thinking "I'm having Deja Vu so hard that my head hurts. This sounds SO familiar!"
I am obsessed with the merry mushmen adventures. I love how they find some amazing adventures in their own right and give them the beautiful layout and art they deserve. Brilliant little books.
Merry Mushmen have the best stuff!! Backed all their kickstarters. I’ve run this (NoRH) using SDtwice and it was a blast. Books are organized so well you can run with nearly zero prep. Rumor and hooks are awesome. Great example of how to organize a small sandbox. Their Horrendous Hounds of Hindenburg and Obsidian Keep are also great. I appreciate the MM always selecting an adventure from Bryce’s tenfootpole “best” list.
I agree with Ben on the sleeve & book, the lack of an outer book cover was a let down. I prefer how the Merry Mushmen did Knock vol 4 with a harder outer cover and the great book sleeve.
@@MrBraukI think it's hard to hold without a solid cover, so what I've done it taken some A4 card stock, folded it in half, and then stapled it to the module (I've done this with all three of their adventures)
The way this adventure is presented reminds me of the old Slayers of Lankhmar Module from advanced D and D. It didn't get great attention at the time, but I converted it for one of my 5E campaigns some years ago and everyone loved it!!
Ran this adventure with Savage Pathfinder... It was great! The system took some tension out of the main 'clock' of the adventure (only 1 death in the Church) but my players loved it. Got their other adventure in the Kickstarter earlier this year
Thanks for the review. You can put this adventure screen behind your own regular DM screen if you don't want the player to see informations on the back of the adventure screen.
Ben, I’d love to see a video where you highlight YOUR top 10 articles from the Knock volumes that can be integrated into our OSR game. This would be fun and different from your normal flip through review that you’ve previously done on knock issues.
I'm running this for my Wednesday group using Knave 2e. It pairs well with the other MM modules you brought up at the start since it takes awhile to level up in Knave.
I'm playing this with a group using Knave 2e and having a blast. First time they are trying out an OSR type game. A bloody good start in adventurous life!
@ I have a full time job so I don’t have time to scam people with a fake kickstarter that fails to deliver a book for a PDF that I already made but called it 2e because I stuck a couple of useless random charts into it.

Thanks for the great review, Ben! We're all very pleased you liked Ragged Hollow 😊
When can we expect the next (fourth) adventure?
Used this with Shadowdark to run an introductionary adventure for my daughter and her friends (15-17). We had a ton of fun in Ragged Hollow :)

I love running these adventures with Dragonbane, a Swedish OSR game.
Thank you for all the kind words, Ben!
Dund’Myth paper mill? I saw what you did there 😂

I've been using these hex crawls in my campaign. This is such a great product. Well written and fun. Can't recommend it more!

I agree about the cover. It would be good to have a card inner cover as well. The Merry Mushmen create amazing work. Love their stuff.

The covers on these books are so cool; such a lovely, fresh style of illustration and design, though I could do without the distressing.
Yep, their cover designs are top-notch!
Having hexes you can put into any hexcraxl is such a good idea ! I love it
Always enjoy you thumbing through books and sharing. Ty
This was a great adventure! I love Joe's adventures!
Thank you!
I've been obsessed with the Merry Mushmen ever since picking up Black Sword Hack, they have some really fun content
I love the premise of this one. Planning to adapt it to Shadowdark soon.

I've actually made several videos so far doing deep dives into my favorites OSR blog posts.

The monster on Huckleberry is one of those things you shouldn't talk about at night. Terrifying.
One of the best KS books I ever threw money at.
This sounds really solid, and very evocative
Just purchased! Thanks for this wonderful heads up!

Looks cool! Think I can make this work in my upcoming shadowdark campaign
Dun'Myff Paper mill - The Office reference?
I never kill my darlings!
I got the Kickstarter but haven't had a chance to run this yet. Looking forward to it.
Love the cover art, tracked down the French artist's website - has some of the internal art from this on his blog.
Dope review!
really nice pick Ben!
Excellent! Needed a good starter set because Im legally blind and cant draw anymore! Still the forever DM. For which I am thankful 8>D
1:06 “It’s one of _those_ kind of books”
What did he _mean_ by this? 😏
It's French!
Whoah, I don't think you understood the lesson of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."
It's fine, so long as you don't leave your magical broom to its own devices, repeating a single order over and over.
Nice video style. 👍
I follow you almost blindly with these adventure recommendations. Will try it out! What is the best “horror” style D&D adventure in your opinion?
I played in Lair of the Lamb recently and that was some well done horror. I think it's still available on the goblin punch blog
@@QuestingBeastit’s an adventure from 2020?
@@diegogeezy8284 Not sure what year
One of THOSE books...
16:45 wait a minute, does that say 1st level sheep on the very bottom right character???
Sheep always start at Level 1
Getting ready to run this soon, kinda hope my players don't watch this!
I ordered this, and they never delivered it, or replied to any messages. I had to claim the money back via paypal in the end.
I'm so sorry that happened
Is this the first QuestingBeast video in 60 FPS? It looks so good!
Red text... bummer. Color blind folks need not apply.
Yes book cover, and healing potions for 25gp are nonsenses. Other then that lovely stuff.
Yahaha! I'm First!
No, I won't, the art is ugly
Wish he would stop plugging his “not a game”, still feel ripped off after the Gary con fiasco
Keep crying. I bought the pdf and it's still awesome. Sorry you had to wait a little longer than some people at a con, must be really rough for you😊
When will you be releasing your "not-a-game?" I'm sure it'll blow Knave out of the water.

Hii! Awesome video! I'm Guilherme, a thumbnail designer, I'd love to chat, do you have any social media where we can connect? Thanks!
