- If so and the premise of evolution is true, what was Adam‘s father? Human? Creature?
- Was Adam‘s father made in the image of God since only humankind was?
- What did Adam’s father look like and why did God do nothing with Adam‘s father?
- Why does the lineage of Jesus only trace back to Adam and not Adams father?
Given the premise of evolution, there would be practically no difference between Adam and his father as such differences require millions and billions of years to take place.

No one's "compromising" the Bible with anything. I believe the Bible is completely true and the perfect Word of God. But that doesn't mean I don't believe in science.
@@gecko-saurus That's the thing, you and many other believe unscientific things as scientific. GOD created science because the Scriptures say so. But to believe that man came from ape is just wrong, scientifically but especially Biblically. If humans evolved, then millions of years of death suffering and disease existed before man, and according to Genesis 1:31, GOD calls His creation very good, so that means you must believe GOD called death, disease, and suffering good, compromising HIS very own character!
If death existed prior to man, then death did not come about as a result of sin. It is clear in the Scriptures that both spiritual and physical death came into the world as Genesis 3, Romans 5, 1 Corinthians 15 and much more teach. To believe that death was just spiritual is not considering what the very passage says:
Genesis 3:19 - ""In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.”"
If death existed prior to sin, then death is not the wages of sin, that means that death would not be the punishment for sin, contrary to what Romans 6:23 teaches. If death does not wage/pay for sin, that means that Jesus Christ's death on the cross did not pay for our sins and now you got a problem! You cannot believe the lies of mainstream science and the Bible without compromising one or the other and sadly the only one that gets compromised is the Scriptures. They take GOD's Word poetically and man's word literally.
Above all my brother, pray to GOD for the truth and be open to His answer, unless you do not want to know the truth, but as followers of Christ, we must always seek the truth, as "the truth will set you free".

Don't let false faulty human philosophy get in the way of Scripture (Colossians 2:8). We have to be very careful to not let the world take us by their stories in order to discredit God's truth. God's inerrant Word says that He created all in 6 days, and that He made the first man from the dust of the ground and all creatures according to their kind; man with faulty philosophy that doesn't want God (as explained in Romans 1) rejects and says everything is nothing but chance that just so happened to occur for no reason, by the magical process of evolution where every organism just morphs into another and another (and somehow millions of years makes that work; time is the evolutionist's magic wand).
Seriously, beware of these things. God's Word is 100% truth, because He is the LORD, who knows all. If anything contradicts His Word, than it is false teaching.

If evolution is true, brother, then death, suffering and disease existed before Adam and before the Fall, which means Christ paying for our sins by dying is in vain as death would have been called "very good" by GOD Himself in Genesis 1:31! GOD despises wickedness and sin and would not create a sinful, fallen, death-ruled and sick world, but those must have been caused by the Fall, with a literal Adam, who Christ Jesus as a man is a direct descendant from. You cannot be a descendant of a myth.
You cannot promote murder of the defenseless and be a Christian.

It never ceases to amaze me that 'somewhat brilliant individuals' could be so purposely blind to how absolutely powerful the Christian God is, meaning that He can create in an instant. How absolutely clear the Bible is on the fall of man. How absolutely clear the Bible is on the 24 hr day. How absolutely clear the Bible is on the fact the Genesis is an account of the history of the earth, and when all scientific evidence is viewed through the eyes of the Creator as recorded in His Word "The Bible", everything make perfect sense. Really? Did Jesus Christ set up a system to cause death and suffering over billions of years? As the famous atheist Jacques Monod was quoted as saying, "I am surprised that a Christian would defend the idea that this is the process which God more or less set up in order to have evolution". And as Charles Darwin once wrote, "I cannot persuade myself that a beneficent & omnipotent God would have designedly created the Ichneumonidæ (a wasp) with the express intention of their feeding within the living bodies of caterpillars, or that a cat should play with mice." Yet, Wright and Collins wants us to believe know that God has done much, much, worse, for a lot longer, than anything done by wasps and cats.

They fell into the trap that Paul warned Christians of in Colossians 2:8
The very point of the song is that assuming a literal view of Genesis is not the only (or automatically the correct) way of reading the book.
You disagree with their interpretation, preferring a literal reading, and that's fine. But don't automatically assume you are correct in this. There are very good and logical (as well as theologically compelling) reasons for preferring a more non-literal approach.
For reference, I used to prefer the literal approach myself, but eventually found that it requires too much in the way of mental gymnastics. The big problem is that there is a lot of evidence you have to ignore or reinterpret (e.g. age of the earth, the fossil record and various other things), and ultimately I realised that it was intellectually dishonest.
Faith is believing God when you can't see evidence of his action, and He requires this. But God NEVER asks us to see evidence and then deny that it is real - that would be foolishness.

@@iandavidson471 20 years ago I would have said much the same as you. However, I went through some pretty awful realisations.
I realised that I'd been lied to by Christians, and worse, I'd passed those lies on. A few examples: I found that literal creationists had lied to me about how the theory of evolution worked, what the evidence for it was, how rocks were dated, flood geology and others. I came to a point where I realised that so-called "biblical" creationism was incompatible with an honest look at the evidence. If the Bible genuinely taught that creation happened in six literal days, I was down to two choices - 1) screw up my eyes, pretend that the evidence didn't exist and stay as I had been, or 2) Admit that the Bible was false.
My faith hung by a thread. Thankfully, (I have no hesitation to say!) God made sure I became friends with some serious, Bible-Believing Christians (conservative evangelicals, no less!) with serious chops in high level science. From these people I learned the third option: 3) Understand that the creation account in Genesis had an intent other than to provide a literal narrative of Creation, in which case it remained inerrant (just not literal), and continue to cling to Christ for salvation.
I will never stop thanking God for how He came through at that time. I don't think I'd still be a Christian if he hadn't.

It is quite clear that when the Bible says sin and death came from Adam, but life comes from Christ it is talking about the human soul. If not, then are we to believe that Christ’s crucifixion was actually also to prevent the death of plants and animals, not just so that the soul of man could live forever?

@@tds06001 "Very good" doesn't mean 100% perfect and flawless. God did call death, disease, predation, etc among creatures "very good", because it is. Life and death require each other to coexist, and among animals it is what makes the eco-systems of our planet so amazing.
I'm not gonna act like my interpretation of the Bible is perfect, because that would be impossible as I'm human, but I believe God established humans as his image on Earth, and to work through them to make creation better. Not so that they could live in a paradise where they just relaxed and never had to do anything, where courage, honor, and loyalty don't exist.

The science proves the universe is billions of years old. That an evolution doesn't disprove scripture. In fact I would argue that the 7 days god made the universe was 7 days to him. Billions of years to us as he is outside our understanding of time and space.

And if it were just for Him, why does HE command Israel to keep the Sabbath and the only reason to is because GOD did so. If HE didn't really rest on the 7th literal day, why command Israel to do so?
And yes, HE is outside our understanding of time and space, so our "understanding" of the universe being billions of years old is not reliable. GOD's understanding is perfect and 6-day creation is GOD's understanding, not man's. Obey GOD's Word, not man's word. You believe billions of years because some man tells you, who got it from another man etc. back to a man who already believed the world to be old without evidence and who already GOD's Word as true.
Scripture disproves evolution. Jesus paid off our sin debt by its wage: death. Why death? Because death entered into the world by Adam's sin. If death existed prior to sin then death is not the wages of sin and therefore Christ's death does not pay our sin debt. But due to Scripture we know Jesus did indeed pay off our sin debt.
If you do not believe in Christ, repent from your sins and believe in the Good News!

GOD HIMSELF tells us that 7 days are 7 normal days, not 7 days "to Him" as they can just as well be one day, or six, or 2, so it completely removed meaning from the Scriptures.
Exodus 20:11 - "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it."
GOD commands Israel to keep the Sabbath, why? Because HE Himself did. Those who disobeyed were to be put to death:
Numbers 15:32-36 - "Now while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day. And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation. They put him under guard, because it had not been explained what should be done to him. Then the LORD said to Moses, “The man must surely be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.” So, as the LORD commanded Moses, all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him with stones, and he died."
So answer this question: If GOD did not really create the universe in 6 literal days and rested on the seventh day, why must Israel work 6 days and keep the Sabbath on the 7th if the only reason given to them by GOD is because GOD HIMSELF rested on the Sabbath after creating the world in 6 days? To say it was "6 days to Him" is completely missing the point. Those who did not keep the Sabbath were to be put to death, why would they be put to death for not keeping the Sabbath if the reason to keep it was because GOD did, if GOD didn't?
Its potentially very destructive to young Christians to introduce your religions of humanism and evolution to Christianity. I want to believe that you are in fact saved people, and that you truly believe this, but it is difficult to fathom. Please actually read Genesis and try to understand it before you write any more songs. Please, everyone, pray for the Lord to grant wisdom and understanding to these two men!
Evolution is a scientific theory (meaning all the evidence points to it) not a religion, and NT Wright is a scholar who studied Genesis in its original contest, try that instead of forcing a 21st century American understanding on it

How ridiculously contradictory this song is! To say that God used evolution in one breath then created Adam and Eve in paradise is asinine. If you "believe in Genesis," then believe it; if you believe in evolutionary theory, then believe it. Believe one or the other, because it is not possible to be rational and believe both.
