Ive got a Yellow 3000. This would be my 4th in my liftime. The first one I ever got was a refurbished 1000 in 2009. It changed my deal forever. All I would play was on my old Nintendo DS. This was a step up I would rip movies on my windows computer. Me and my friends would trade movies at school for this. We also would trade UMDs for a few months and enjoy games we couldnt afford. I then got a Vita, which wasnt as fun tbfh, I loved it but it just shut down a month after I got the Vita. Which made me a bit upset. Anyways, I carry around this Yellow 3K around a lot. I work and go to school. It has a large library of PSP/N64 games and movies on it to this day. Anime, movies, games, music. It beats using my phone and running that battery down lol. I always disliked emulating PSP unless you got something serious. I always ran into issues with emulation on my different stuff. Its cool, but no where near native hardware. Its the reason why some rather just keep the console around and have a authentic experience. I do have a emulation machine made out of a PC stick, a Xbox One S, Xbox 360, PS2, PC, PS4. My boyfriend has a switch lite (and Xbox One) and while I would love one of those. I would be happier with a Retroid pocket 3 or something like that. Overall the PSP is my little work horse. Keeps me from having to fight with battery levels on my phone, also does what I want and keeps the storage free on my phone.
I will always need this precious piece of portable gaming history. One day I'll buy a huuuge sd card and fill it with as many games as possible. But I'll watch the video anyway 😊
Monster Hunter fans, there's a translation for MHP3rd on the psp too. Great video btw! Lots of games I've never even heard of that I now definitely want to try out.
I never used my psp for watching anime, but I did use my ds to watch a lot of stuff. For some reason there was a dedicated Spanish forum that ripped anime, movies and tv shows so you could watch them on your ds. Thats how I watched skins. Which reminds me, Cassie best girl. great work as always Hikiko, I could watch a million of these type of videos and never be bored
Always loved it. Got me through an Army deployment. Disappearing into Breath of Fire 3 and Tactics was a blessing. Man...I want one now. I still play my Vita and portable emulators, but they aren't the same.
I love this video format. I have no experience with the PSP but learning Disaster Report 3 has an English translation makes me think I will be picking one up soon.
Psp is my second favorite handheld i had so many memories playing psp games locoroco, patapon , lumines 2, god eaters and more :D i lost my psp 5 years ago (´༎ຶོρ༎ຶོ`) i might buy new one soon
I remember bringing the PSP to school so my friends and I could watch the Fantastic Four movie at recess. Also, for the first few days my dumbass thought the analog stick was a speaker.
Been trying to add to my PSP collection recently, so this came out at a perfect time. Thanks for upload bro, never been disappointed with a recommendation from ya.
A great selection of platform-defining games with really well-done reviews to go along! Honestly, no portables up to and since the PSP could ever match its library. PS Vita is a great, premium way to enjoy the PSP library due to a sharp screen with very minimal ghosting, the worlds-apart-better speakers, and approximately doubled battery life while playing PSP games, but I'd still recommend also having at least a cheapo PSP with a working disc drive for the game dumping purposes.
I got a Vita with every hacked rom you can think of that can run on the specs. I love it. All of Nintendo's, Sega's, Access to PS1 and PSP's full library and Atari as well as Wonderswan Color's Entire Game library. I stopped buying them games for crazy amounts of cash from Game Stores there will be no more of that crap lol.
Awesome job on this video! With your system overview videos I appreciate the detailed looks at the games you recommend for each system. While others tend to focus on information I can easily find on Wikipedia, you on the other hand focus in what matters most, which will always be the games.
I loved the PSP so much, however that love did screw me over since I ended up buying the PS Vita at launch... However now I love using my Vita for PSP and Vita games, still playing a lot of PSP and Vita games on it now.
I had two PSP, one was a GO and the other one was a 3001 (still have this one, but the battery is busted). When you talked about watching anime using the system you triggered a lot of memories, I used to watch anime using my PSP-3001 in the diner next to the place I worked at. Good times! I have a hacked PSVita in which I play PSP games now that I use pretty frequently and in fact I'm replaying The 3rd Birthday right now!
@@Gloryboyquan PSP related i always have those Dreamcast ports like Crazy Taxi and Power Stone. The ones i've been playing recently are The 3rd Birthday and also Black Rock Shooter The Game, a really really underrated action JRPG exclusive to the PSP.
@@Gloryboyquan i wouldn't either, it's one of my favorite handhelds ever. Plus there's a lot of active homebrew devs that are doing some great stuff there.
I have 2 hacked PSVitas (hacked & unhacked) and 2 Vita TVs (hacked & unhacked) and I usually just play PSP games on an emulator, but I still keep my PSP around because my consoles have a lot of emotional value to me. 1:33 - Same. 3:27 - God I hated the memory cards. I shelled out a ton just to get the largest card I could get because some games had intolerable loading times unless installed on UMD. Was revlieved once microSD card adapters came out (though I was probably emulating at that point). 4:10 - Never really had a problem with UMDs, but I took care of my games fairly okay. 21:57 - I remember finding out about this from a Game Trailers review of all places. Played the PC versions despite buying the PSP version, but for some reason, it would always default to "modern graphics" mode for reasons I don't understand. The "modern graphics" always seemed pretty antithetical to the sorts of games HMH was poking fun at. My favourite part is how high quality the rocking soundtrack and unlockable artwork is to how the game actually looks, GT pointed this out. I looked it up, and GT gave it an 8.7, which is really shocking to me considering how these days most critics would probably give it a 6 or something. 1:16:42 - Think I also heard about this from a Game Trailers review and the concept of playing the bad guy intrigued me. Never played too much, but I remember getting filtered by its ecosystem system. Wish the VR game was playable outside the PS4 VR, because I can't justify buying a PSVR for maybe 2-3 exclusives, especially since the PSVR2 isn't backwards compatible.
PSVR (1) is not aging well with the improvements and lower prices of modern headsets. I guarantee you'll be able to find them for 50.00 in the near future. I played a lot of odd exclusives for it that I enjoyed, but there were a lot of demos or proof of concepts that never saw full games. Last Guardian, Danganronpa, etc. Badman VR, FFXV Fising VR and Rez/Tetris Effect were great.
@@HikikomoriMedia Well Sir Cusakesque the honor is all mine. Your "Why You Need an Xbox / Wii / WiiU" reviews are in my top 3 hidden gems reviews. Keep up the excellent work.
I didn't play too many games on the PSP but i did love Mega Man Maverick Hunter X and Dissidia Duodecim. Square really needs to port that game or make an actual follow up to it.
I have a PSP nowadays but man I wish I had one back when they were supported. Such a cool little gizmo. Some of my favorite games: • MGS Portable Ops (while I do like Peace Walker, MPO feels more like a home console game than it so I like this more.) • Star Wars The Force Unleashed (better than PS3 version in my humble opinion) • Fat Princess • Medal of Honor Heroes • Both GoW games • Gran Turismo • Wipeout Pulse
One thing that would definitely add to the list is final fantasy type-0. Someone fully translated it and also uses the same engine as 3rd birthday so as you would expect visuals are gorgeus.
What a badass and informative video. Thank you very much for your passionate work. The PSP and Vita are my favorite handhelds of all time. It’s been fun as hell collecting and watching UMD movies too!

Great video as always, dude. Solid game recommendations. I'm going to try and keep an eye on that Kurohyou translation; that's crazy. I have been wanting a Vita for years to take care of my PSP game needs as well and finally bit the bullet when I found a boxed OLED system at a local used game shop with Mortal Kombat for $175. Still need to get around to softmodding it.
Great video Hikikomori. Man your video editing skills are outstanding and have always been excellent since we talked about this on discord. Keep up the great work. I am working on a psp rpg recommendations video soon.
such a great video! and a nice set of games, played almost all of them except for the badman series and that weird japanese natural disaster survival sim
A year late to the party but I bought a well kept psp1000 yesterday, very excited to get to modding hundreds of games on a good ol micro sd with an adapter. Only downside Ive noticed so far is that connecting to wifi is near impossible in the modern age, oh well
Where the PSP Street (E-1000) at in the vid!? :( Its so interesting that this video came out while I've been binging on PSP like crazy the last couple of weeks.
Can't forget both Syphon Filter PSP games, Killzone Liberation, and Resistance Retribution. And there are a few good FPS games, although using only one analog stick is awkward.

Linger in shadows and Datura if you look into them will lead you to the "Demo scene". All those hidden names in linger are of groupes of developers. Who held competitions every year all dragging their Amiga hardware to convention centers for weekend events. Impressive stuff.
the one thing that really seperated the PSP fporm other devices, was that it COULD PLAY FLASH VIDEOS and therefore, was useful for certain.. adult content. websites that would never work on the NDS , for exmaple - worked just fine on the PSP
appreciate the psp content in 2023. New games have been trash for years, battlepasses, sbmm, paid dlc left n right, $70-100 games. Im done with it, im only playing old fun games from now on, and without all the content on youtube it wouldnt be possible, atleast not as easy.

it's funny to think that few japanese publishers managed to sneak in Visual novels with hentai scenes by releasing them under "PSP VIDEO" since that side isn't as strict as releasing it under game banner xd

actually silent hill shattered memories and origins were ported to the ps2 with better graphics, perfomance and you can try emulating it on the pcsx2. I played those games on an original ps2 for the first time and it was a blast.
Silent Hill Origins on PS2 has an issue where it's significantly darker than the PSP version. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. SHSM is fine anyway you play it.
Anyone trying to find a certain game or a certain movie/music UMD Look for lots. Buying the games individually are way more expensive. I bought a GTA VCS CIB and LCS UMD only and 3 movies for only $30. The VCS game only is going for $25 plus shipping and taxes.
Ahh I didn't know there was a Gitaroo Man for PSP, and of course it's expensive. Hammerin' Hero has been on my radar for a long time, but I never see it around and it is brutally expensive now - an Atlus staple before the Sega merger. I'm disappointed you didn't mention Dracula X Chronicles, the many awesome arcade racers, the Megaman remakes or some of the many collections on the platform. I don't think the 3DS+Vita combined had libraries that matched the PSP.
I normally like his takes, but The 3rd Birthday was character assassination for Aya, Maya, and Maeda, and then effectively killing off the series after numerous director / team changes and no one wanted to work on it. It even changed genres from Hard Sci-fi to... just Cyberpunk Fantasy? The 3rd Birthday is the Metroid: Other M of the PSP.
I stand by my opinion. 3rd Birthday is one of the most enjoyable games on the system. The story from P.E. II already veered far away from Sena's source material long before 3rd Birthday.
I made a LONG PS3 retrospective where I talk about weird accessories, upgrades and 40+ games

Overall the PSP is my little work horse. Keeps me from having to fight with battery levels on my phone, also does what I want and keeps the storage free on my phone.
I will always need this precious piece of portable gaming history. One day I'll buy a huuuge sd card and fill it with as many games as possible. But I'll watch the video anyway 😊
psp such a great pocket device overall mannn wow ... ! I modded my vita and love it to death very underrated both psp and vita
Which reminds me, Cassie best girl.
great work as always Hikiko, I could watch a million of these type of videos and never be bored
ds?????ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww y would u mention that rotten name over here !!!
Dude, thank you. I needed to get some chores done and this was perfect for listening to and reminiscing about how awesome the psp was/is.
Love your dax flame avatar. Now THAT takes me back
Always loved it.
Now do one for 3DS? Ive been LOVING this series of videos.
I got a PSP back in 2007 because my mom saw one and in the box the PSP had an image of it browsing google so she thought it was a mini computer
By 2005 standards it was kinda mini computer
YES NEW HIKIKO CONSOLE VIDEO
I never heard of Patchwork Heroes. I suprised patapon was not included, its crazy rhythm nature looks like a 100% Hikiko material
Love patapon, but wanted to include PSP games not on typical lists
Psp is my second favorite handheld i had so many memories playing psp games locoroco, patapon , lumines 2, god eaters and more :D i lost my psp 5 years ago (´༎ຶོρ༎ຶོ`) i might buy new one soon
I remember bringing the PSP to school so my friends and I could watch the Fantastic Four movie at recess. Also, for the first few days my dumbass thought the analog stick was a speaker.
hahaaahaaaa
However now I love using my Vita for PSP and Vita games, still playing a lot of PSP and Vita games on it now.
same here my vita modded
you the man, hikiko
You still have the zombie anime poster on your closet.
I gave it a watch after seeing it in one of your older videos.
It was interesting
Yeah there was a crossover with lollipop chainsaw and that's how I got into is this a zombie. Check out chainsaw man too!
I also have modded ps vita...what else u play?
@@Gloryboyquan PSP related i always have those Dreamcast ports like Crazy Taxi and Power Stone. The ones i've been playing recently are The 3rd Birthday and also Black Rock Shooter The Game, a really really underrated action JRPG exclusive to the PSP.
@otako_fefe oooo I'm Playing currently Mhfu And Vita Games I Got Child of light to play but Mhfu Got Me Good Rn
@@otako_fefe I would never sell my vita this a staple In my life my fav handheld
This guy is the John Cusack of gaming
Better Off Dead is in my top 3 movies, so that's a high honor
@@HikikomoriMedia Well Sir Cusakesque the honor is all mine. Your "Why You Need an Xbox / Wii / WiiU" reviews are in my top 3 hidden gems reviews. Keep up the excellent work.
@@HikikomoriMediaGrosse point blank and 1408 are my favorite Cusack movies
I didn't play too many games on the PSP but i did love Mega Man Maverick Hunter X and Dissidia Duodecim. Square really needs to port that game or make an actual follow up to it.
I have a PSP nowadays but man I wish I had one back when they were supported. Such a cool little gizmo. Some of my favorite games:
• MGS Portable Ops (while I do like Peace Walker, MPO feels more like a home console game than it so I like this more.)
• Star Wars The Force Unleashed (better than PS3 version in my humble opinion)
• Fat Princess
• Medal of Honor Heroes
• Both GoW games
• Gran Turismo
• Wipeout Pulse
Love the video, psp is very dear to my heart so it was glad to see it represented here. BTW maybe PS Vita soon?👀
Possibly!

Why you need a Switch in 2050
One thing that would definitely add to the list is final fantasy type-0. Someone fully translated it and also uses the same engine as 3rd birthday so as you would expect visuals are gorgeus.
same director too
What a badass and informative video. Thank you very much for your passionate work. The PSP and Vita are my favorite handhelds of all time. It’s been fun as hell collecting and watching UMD movies too!
Always enjoy watching these videos you make. I started a small psp library a while ago and have been wanting to add more like the 3rd birthday and yakuza black panther. Its honestly ome of the greats for long bus rides. :)
Dude, these are sick recommendations. Thanks!
1:01:50 that reporter exactly sounds like the one on The Tick cartoon
omg the Aya Brea plot twist at the end, nooooo! XD hoooow!!!? i remember it now. ...
I have a psp and just got the go to bring everywhere
Great video as always, dude. Solid game recommendations. I'm going to try and keep an eye on that Kurohyou translation; that's crazy.
I have been wanting a Vita for years to take care of my PSP game needs as well and finally bit the bullet when I found a boxed OLED system at a local used game shop with Mortal Kombat for $175. Still need to get around to softmodding it.
ua-cam.com/video/XdhG4oO4qPM/v-deo.html
this is how to mod it in 60 seconds :)
I love the half min hero games a lot
Great stuff, really enjoyed the video!!!
Freaking awesome and nostalgic indeed dude
A year late to the party but I bought a well kept psp1000 yesterday, very excited to get to modding hundreds of games on a good ol micro sd with an adapter. Only downside Ive noticed so far is that connecting to wifi is near impossible in the modern age, oh well
yeah, I think it operates on an old wireless encryption standard. if you remove security it may be able to connect (not recommend)
8:57 Ahhh !! I saw what you did there, Man of culture
Where the PSP Street (E-1000) at in the vid!? :(
Its so interesting that this video came out while I've been binging on PSP like crazy the last couple of weeks.
It's a shame that PSP doesn't have any kind of rumble. Some genres aren't the same without it.
Shadows of the Damnd Remaster hype!!!!
Can't forget both Syphon Filter PSP games, Killzone Liberation, and Resistance Retribution. And there are a few good FPS games, although using only one analog stick is awkward.
I haven’t played either Syphon filter on psp. I’m debating whether I should play them on my psp or ps5. What would you suggest? I’m leaning towards ps5
Dam your videos are good. I wasn't intending to watch your Xbox360 vid in one sitti g and now her I am loving your PSP vid.
there's a PS3, Wii and Wii U one along the same line
@@HikikomoriMedia I just got to the end of the ps3 vid and now have a new wants list though I already played Linger in Shadows, Datura and Rain shadow of the Colossus and have Toy home digitally to my surprise.
Most of the others are way more expensive physically than expected. Fortunately the infamouse collection is still on the uk psn store with festival of blood.
Linger in shadows and Datura if you look into them will lead you to the "Demo scene". All those hidden names in linger are of groupes of developers. Who held competitions every year all dragging their Amiga hardware to convention centers for weekend events. Impressive stuff.
2:54 It's Grand Knights' History!
the one thing that really seperated the PSP fporm other devices, was that it COULD PLAY FLASH VIDEOS and therefore, was useful for certain.. adult content. websites that would never work on the NDS , for exmaple - worked just fine on the PSP
love this thing
Definitely need to cover Tokobot if you do another of these!
appreciate the psp content in 2023. New games have been trash for years, battlepasses, sbmm, paid dlc left n right, $70-100 games. Im done with it, im only playing old fun games from now on, and without all the content on youtube it wouldnt be possible, atleast not as easy.
i did not now there was a Yakuza game for the psp! that's great news! and is there a fix for the emulation issue with metal gear acid 2 by now? looks very cool
I really like Origins. I thought it was awesome that if you didn't have a weapon Travis can go to town on enemies with his fists.
Yeah, comparatively it's not the best or the worst game in the series. Some fun post game unlocks.
you should make one for the ps vita (:
Nice choice of games dude
Thanks 😁
1 reason is: you actually own the games unlike new consoles
August 15th will be The Date.
Looks so cooooooo
it's funny to think that few japanese publishers managed to sneak in Visual novels with hentai scenes by releasing them under "PSP VIDEO" since that side isn't as strict as releasing it under game banner xd
Where did you find a physical PAL copy of Patchwork Heroes?
thanks. i just discovered dead head fred and grand Knights history
Dr.Maybee And Scarygirl(Fritz L.VAporware)
Shadow OF Destiny(Life in the FLash 24)
Floating Cloud [g]od saves the Pilgrims (Okami M-Rebirth)
Baroque`s really Gud on handhelds(PLaYitGOdDamnit)
Rengoku Stairway 2 H.E.A.V.E.N(God-Grave Automata)
The most regret thing for me is “Yakuza:black panther”without English or my mother language 😢but PlayStation portable still give me surprise in 2023, compare with ps vita.
actually silent hill shattered memories and origins were ported to the ps2 with better graphics, perfomance and you can try emulating it on the pcsx2.
THANKS DUDE
Any time
I got a Go but the hold button is broken...
Great video 😁😁
what is the at 2:09 ? looks really interesting
Coded Arms. It's alright.
“Psp in 2024” (filmed in 2023 😳)
the PSP is eternal
@@HikikomoriMedia the PSP transcends time itself 😧
I'm looking to get both but should I be worried about battery bloat in a PSP Go?
Couldn't hurt to replace it.
I tend not to mention games that appeared in the hundred other PSP videos. Maybe in a followup
@@HikikomoriMedia No worries man, I still really enjoyed the video and I like your content.
What’s the game at 2:09?
Coded Arms (2005) for PSP
