Making a Leather Passport Case with BRIGHT ORANGE Edge Paint!
We decided to finish the edges of our leather project this week with edge paint. There are many ways to finish leather edges, and we chose a bright orange paint to finish our leather edges that is made by Uniters in the USA. This leather passport case is made from a beautiful blue leather from Wickett & Craig, and hand sewn with bright orange thread. We used bright orange edge paint to match the hand sewing thread, and finished the leather passport case that we made with a coat of wax.
This handmade leather passport case also features a new pocket design that we also painted orange, it is a single layer pocket that fits cards snuggly for travel. If you're traveling with a leather passport case you want it to be nice and secure, and this handmade leather passport case fits the bill!
Real talk? Your edge paint skills are some of the best I've seen. Painting in a contrast color shows exactly how much precision it takes to execute, its not the kind of thing you do fast or it looks sloppy. Am I gushing? Yes, because you rocked this. Nice video + work.
Everytime I'm stressed or need to relax I come on Your channel and just watch your vids. Your talent is remarkable and it sure distresses me. I love watching your work.Keep up the great content!
I just love the blue and orange combo.
One of the most beautiful products you've ever made. Your channel is what got me into leather craft. Thank you
Great video, but my left ear isn't satisfied
agreed
I only use a left ear bud. I just thought there was so audio. Lol
Same! I bought new expensive headphones recently and I thought they were already fucked lol 😂
Beautiful...and I like the note on the back of your hand.
I want one just like pictured. My two favorite colors together: any shade of blue with orange.
I LOVE THE COLORS!!! My favorite color is burnt orange, but I’m also a Tigers woman by default, so that will go perfectly with my Apple Watch woven Tigers band! 😁
What a great way to showcase the new card slots. Very helpful for us novices
I was waiting in line to get my car washed, this passed time very nicely. Thank you.
I can't get over how steady your hand is. You're like a surgeon!
You're a true craftsman my friend, not many people do things like this by hand anymore. I know the video is sped up and doesn't show alot of the bs that goes into making something like this but you make it look effortless. It looks great .
Why was this so relaxing and therapeutic
Found out I had used my favorite wallet all wrong from your put together! I stretched it all out by shoving the entire passport into the back pocket, but just the back cover would have made much more sense. Live and learn!
That was cool nice job
Will the paint crack due to flexing over time? If not I guess there is a flex agent? WHich paint do you suggest to avoid cracking?
An older maker recommended I start using edge paint and now I see why. Fantastic job on this piece!
That's a neat way of stitching cardslots without T pockets! Nicely done.
Is there any way you could start doing a “materials used” list? Itd be very helpful for someone (me) who is starting out and is looking for the right products!
We've got some plans to do that very soon!
My biggest problem is finding the right thread for hand stitching small projects. What brand and size thread are you using? Thanks.
Corter Leather Yes please!!
Lovely colour match Nice design Well crafted I would be proud to own that Thanks for sharing
This is a terrific design. There are plenty of passport wallets out there, but this one throws a really unique aesthetic into the mix with the flat card slots and the bright orange thread and edge paint.
The edge paint looks pretty labor intensive, but even if you offered this design without it, just with the contrasting thread, I bet it would sell very well.
One addition I might recommend is a clip or flap that could attach the smaller card case to the inside of the passport wallet. During travel, both would be together, saving space, but once at the destination the passport could be locked away safely while the card case stayed with you.
Hey, the lighter case is back! The colors on this piece work beautifully. Thanks for another awesome video!
Crazy edge paint skills, I always love watching that
Love the blue with orange.
Respect for hand made things
Very good quality . Makes me have to try to make it. Very kind of u sharing how to make it
Your videos are so relaxing I absolutely love watching your craft
1:09 incredibly satisfying surface tension...almost wants to go over the edge, but stays right where it should.
I use an edge roller. Wow watching you use that nail is like a form of art
With great precision and accuracy you made it perfectly. My best wishes for you brother.Keep it up. Love from India.
such an awesome piece. Great work once again.
Very soothing video. Thanks for posting!
You can also use a roller pen for painting the edge.. And I think it's a lot more easier 😊
Your stuff is beautiful and very inspiring
Wow this is so beautiful!! I wish you guys sold this on your website!!!
You guys to such beautiful work.
Really liked the color combination on this one. The blue leather with the orange edge and also that thread. Wouldn't mind some extra info to these videos such as thickness of leather. Well done!
Beautiful. You are my inspiration.
sigh, just what i needed on a crappy friday...
awesome video as always, it is amazing how you always manage to show new little tips and tricks in all your videos while still focusing on the project (like for example the thread locking in the needle this time).
On a side note, i am still trying to track down the Vernis edge paint online (which is a huge hassle, even over here in europe it seems like most retailers don't carry it).
thank you for your time and the video.
This video makes me feel at ease
Damn that's nice....I never travel over seas, and I don't like orange (blue & yellow), but that's really nice. Wouldn't mind having something like that for, ya know a billfold. Beautiful work!
Very useful tutorial. Thank you 😃
Subscribed! So impressed with your work.
3:14 Even a custom pin cushion, the creation and details are endless, down to the smallest things.
Beautiful...
Love the way you shoot your video
Hermoso trabajo felicitaciones
Why am I watching this. I don"t even have a passport.
Er Polat niya la?
lol I know right same here
👏🏽👏🏽🤣 Motivation! I have a passport case and I don’t even have a passport yet, keyword, yet! First stop, Fiji!!! 🧡🧡🧡
All these beautifully and painstakingly handcrafted items, I always wonder what these people do when they get 90% done with one and somehow mess it up. Many of these things have extremely limited room for error.
Beautiful! 😍
my right ear loved this video
Beautiful Colors! You must have a steady hand to put the color on the edge. One slip, and start all over! Excellent work!
I dont like blue, and I dont like orange... But HOLY hell is that beautiful ❤️
Very nice work!
Lovely crafted!
Cool now I can make my own... hmm where to begin.
Awesome beautiful wow
Hi dear, is edge paint durable and resists wear and tear?
Excellent skills. Do you use other type of applicators, such as roller pens for edge paints?
This reminds me of the Toy Story scene when Woody is getting touched up. Very satisfying
Gorgeous
Beautiful!
Although of course you now have to take your passport out of all cases now when you go tot the airport. But still. a lovely case.
GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful
Lo Félisto por su diseño y trabajo tan hermoso y por ser muy de tallista y muy fino para trabajar resiva un saludo de mano y una felisitasion por suvideo
Super nice! Is that leather from DLS? Conceria La Perla Azzurra Dakota, Cobalto perhaps? Very very nice work!!
Nice job beautiful
Nice work can you tell me what type of threading you are hand stitching your passport with.
Hi Eric! I’m looking for something to hold my passport and cards together, and this looks perfect. If I were to custom order a same style in blue with yellow/gold edge paint, what would be your quote? Thanks for your time!
that's really nice
Very clean work. ....where do you get your edge paint? Thanks for sharing your talents, very inspiring.
What a great colour combination. It really elevates itself. Great job you two. What kind if leather? Was is chrometanned?
are you using wax or normal paint for edge painting like that? never see color like that for wax
Hope you remembered the cat food lol. Great looking project
Ryan Wigginton 😂
What is the edge paint used in this video? Is there any prep'ing involved before/after applying the paint?
Yay the first to comment!! Yall are awesome!!
Beautiful video! May I ask why you punch and sew by hand? Do you find machine sewing inferior in some way?
Went to your site for a wallet, so many are sold out. I'm not surprised.
In this video have you used a waxed thread or was just a normal one?
You have helped me a lot! Great job! One question, is that a glossy finish edge paint?
Well well well, when I put on ma leather, and rock to sum Metallica, Delta Parole, Foo Fighters or the Smashing Pumpkins I feel like I can do anything in the whole wide world.
Do you sell any pieces ? Would love to see the same style you just made.. but is a card case wallet.
Really fucking beautiful
What type of leather are you using? Tooling? English Bridle? :)
Hi could you tell me what thread you are using, and what size it is? Thanks

Can you do a vid about making a passport case without tools? Thank you!!!
Nice!👍
Nice product and presentation, may I kindly ask what glue do you use?
The tapping of the hammer is my favorite part🤔
Amazzxinnng
Wawwww would love yo buy one of these
One quick question. I have a one-year-old wallet didn’t do proper edge coating. Which step is easy for me to DIY?
Wow
I like your work! How i can see de price for the case, i don't foud them in the page! Congrats for the channel!
I try to soften the edges but it doesn’t work. I dont know what layer of the hide must have been. I chose it because an embossed leather. Now struggling to make an smooth edge. Is there any solution to this problem any paint or type of paint that can cover it up like a plastic. I see it deisgner brands use a thick layer to cover the raw edges any help as how ? I have heard of hot dye but dont know
