Don't forget you require Radio plays they count a huge amount on Billboard. However to get Radio Plays in the USA you need a lot of money which most independent artists won't have. Why do they require money. It's because the USA music industry is corrupt. Radio plays are paid for the more you pay the more air time your record will receive pay more and it'll be at peak times. This practice is illegal however it's Referred to a 'Payola'. Yes you might get the odd radio station agree to a 'listeners request' if they think it will bring in Listeners and the Radio Presenter is free to create their own play list. However most Radio Presenters are directed what to play by their Radio station owners.
