The way to get a song on the radio, or an app in the top 10 of the iTunes app store, or give any other product national attention, is to hire a PR firm, pay them $1M, and they will pay the right people who control those distribution channels to get your product in the top 10.
Now whether it stays there is a matter of whether the public actually likes the product. But you need to pay to play.

Thanks for keeping it real. Back in the day you could go to a radio station, drop some CASH off to the D.J. and he or she would put you in the rotation. Times have changed. Even if there are D.Js today willing to do that, they would have to get permission. I am a songwriter and a producer. I have a female artist coming out really soon with a single that I really think it has a chance to hit. I will use every avenue that is available to me, with in my budget, to promote her. And yes I wrote the song. Lol 3/16/2021

Me as well! I was the # 1 DJ locally in my city, # 1 behind DJ Khaled at the time he was signed with "Young Money" but I also was on iheart radio as well.
All you have to do is just sound good & have what ppl like to hear, listen & dance too. Shortly I'll be launching my own station & running it independently !

I'm struggling to find a video on where one starts in song writing,
Am I just missing it or is the topic not started yet? 😅

I work in radio broadcasting and am a music director. Seth is the man. Listen to him. But, most of the music that people submit to me is rubbish and doesn't get played. Sure, get to know me... but if the music sucks and doesn't fit the format of our stations, it still won't get played. About 97% of the submissions get get won't every get played on air.
