What I do sometimes for the bread is I get a cookie cutter or a round cylinder that fits the exact diameter of the cooking rings of the device. With that I cut regular white or wheat and various other types of bread and fit it into the device. It works very well. How be it white or wheat bread isn't cooked hard on the outside like muffins are, so they actually come out fairly well toasted. Of course when cutting the bread one will be left with a tiny amount of left over bread crust. You can use that for other dishes, prepare something for your pets, or give them to the birds.
Good review! I often wish James would try a few more creative fix options before making his final assessment, but you did it! What I was really waiting for, though, was for you to taste each one and tell me if you liked how it tastes. One of your commenters mentioned his/her/their opinion that a pan would be easier. I would have liked to know if you enjoyed your experience with the device, and if you though you might continue using it. Or if you felt it might be just a bit too gimmicky.
Thank you so much for your very kind comment! And I truly appreciate your questions. Sometimes I have just eaten a meal directly before and don’t always feel like eating again after. I really like this device and use it pretty regularly. This product is pretty easy to clean and use. It’s also fast. Which I really like. I don’t find this product gimmicky. I leave it up to the particular user to decide if they’d like to make a breakfast sandwich in this breakfast sandwich maker or a pan. You can certainly use either.
Thank u so much for this video! We bought this sandwich maker several years, ago absolutely love it, egg McMuffins are now our go-to breakfast meal! But two things I want to say.... one, when we got it, the instructions said that when we put the egg in, to poke a sharp knife into the yolk, to flatten it out, let it spread more evenly. And two, my own personal thing, I like the cheese to sit on TOP of everything else there, not underneath. So what I do is reverse the top and bottoms of the muffin, put the actual TOP part on the bottom plate, then put the cheese on it. The sausage or whatever u add can go wherever u want it to go, top or bottom part. And when it is done, I just flip it over so that the "top" of the muffin, with the cheese, is actually on the top of the sandwich! But that's just me, lol! One more thing, surfaces like this are much easier to clean when they are still hot! A damp washcloth to them while still hot makes cleaning a breeze!!!
I do a totally different method. While it's preheating, I put the English muffin upside down in the top and bottom so the insides get toasty. Then i flipped them over, and add the cheese, meat (we don't really have Canadian bacon in Canada LOL) and scrambled egg
@@JaceyKlein I usually buy round sausage patties. Some come precooked, some you need to cook first so I do a bunch at a time and freeze them. Or if I have some calico lol, or even bacon…whatever!
Just got my double. Try doing it with bottom muffin and cheese and meat and egg. Everything but the top of the muffin then just add the top muffin with three minutes to go. Perfect
You can make the pancakes right in the maker first also. Make pancake batter then add small ladle of batter to bottom ring. Bring middle ring down and add small ladle of mix to middle ring, close lid and you’ll have to exact size pancakes in 3.5 minutes cooked once. Then cook the egg in bottom ring and when done slide onto nice soft pancakes.
The biggest problem with it is that if you scramble the egg it leaks out the side if poured all at once if done a little at a time just to get it to cook a little to seal the edge then pour it all in ... Other than that it's a good unit
This is what I do, pour scrambled egg in bottom zero leakage, top meat, cheese, half of english muffin, cook 2.30 min then add cheese top of egg and half of english muffin cook 2.30 min, when done flip bottom and slide divider
in the redo of the pancake method... instead of reducing the amount of time the top pancake is in the cooker, you increased the amount of time that the bottom pancake is in there. Instead, perhaps initially cook the egg by itself for 3 minutes, open the top, add top pancake, lift middle section and add bottom pancake, cheese, and sausage, then close it up and cook for another 2 minutes. this should help reduce any burning of the pancake.
I preheat it first then I put my egg in and wait 3 minutes then put muffin on top, then put my muffin and sausage patty on the bottom cook for 2 minutes and done.
Good review, thank you. Although it's a little cringy when you say 'Canadian Bacon', as a Canadian, I can assure you there is no such thing. Marketing executives in USA decided they weren't moving enough back bacon (ham) and so they called it 'Canadian Bacon' and increased the price. Low and behold, Americans started buying and putting 'Canadian Bacon' on everything ... LOL. It's just ham or you could call it 'back bacon', which is what we Canadian's call it because it comes from the back region. As for bacon, what we call bacon is that same strips that the rest of the world calls bacon.
It's an interesting contraption but hardly seems worthwhile. The only problem it solved for me was finishing up my christmas gift shopping for a couple relatives one year …
The whole purpose is to throw everything in at once and in 5 minutes you have a McMuffin,if you're going to add steps throw that thing out and use a toaster and frying pan.
So I cook the meat separately, cook the egg separately, then the machine does the rest? Sounds like SNL skit from the 70’s with “Mr Tea”, “you provide the hot water and tea bag and Mr Tea does the rest”…
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful memory with me! It warms my heart to know that the product was a part of such a special time in your son's life. Congratulations to him on his upcoming marriage! Wishing him and his a lifetime filled with love, happiness, and cherished memories. 💕"
Be careful, everyone here, as well as this very good video reviewer, as the teflon rings will begin flaking off onto your food after about a year. One Amazon reviewer mentions how they brought this up with the manufacturer about 12 months after having purchased (just out of warranty period) and the manufacturer essentially told them to go and pound sand. Sadly, the sandwich maker just becomes another trash heap victim of "planned obsolescence" where the makers know that you'll be faced with the decision as to whether or not to buy another one soon thereafter the warranty expires, banking on hopefully you choosing to do so. It's sort of like a meth dealer knowing the consumer junkie will come back over and over again until he's broke to buy more product. These days, we consumers have seemed to have lost our ground in demanding that manufacturers make a more enduring product. I have a grandmother whose old blender-- while not a great one, but at least a decent one-- has outlasted our Vitamix on which the variable speed knob had "wigged out" after just under ten years of regular use.
Thank you for sharing your insights and experiences with this product. Your story about your grandmother's blender highlights the stark contrast between older, more durable appliances and some modern ones. I appreciate the mention of the claim about the Teflon Rings, and I'm curious if you have any tips or recommendations for alternative sandwich makers or kitchen appliances that prioritize durability and reliability. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
Looks as though they may have cleaned it improperly or used metal spatulas to remove the sandwiches. However, anyone that will use Meth sale/use as an example of how he thinks this company is cheating consumers is wild. You lost me at Meth lol
the thing is a piece of junk. easier and faster to use a pan. gadgets like this are supposed to simplify and speed up the process of making things and this does neither. apparently it's a well known piece of junk too as even practically brand new i couldn't get a buyer for $5.
we've used the same one for 10 years. It's been great! My daughter got it when she was 8 and it was awesome she could safely make her own breakfast. I also use it to make crustless pizza, eggs with no English muffin, chuffles... I do use it differently than either this video or James.
Agreed. I can toast an english muffin and cook canadian bacon (or sausage) and an egg in a small sauce pan faster than this contraption requires and have only the sauce pan and spatula to clean (and cleaning those two items will be faster than cleaning this contraption). This is a poster child example for why Alton Brown, of "Good Eats" fame, says that single-taskers of this sort should be avoided. I wouldn't use this thing if you gave it to me for free.
Easy to clean? Easy to use? You have a very odd definition of those terms. I respect your thoughts on this! While this may not be for everyone it is nice to hear it served a purpose in completing your holiday shopping
I'm searching for the toastmaster brand, & this comes up.Smh
Get s small cast iron egg pan and a toaster.
Any pan works. 🍳🍳🍳 Hot Sandwiche is the easiest thing to make.
@peekaboots01 ok. I'll cook with what I have. Thanks again for the video.

My very thoughts, too many steps.
Seems you added a few steps ? why
These are great. Just clean after. Don't let cheese over lap. Its simple but hard if you're stupid.
This is true!
The dual version has a timer.
I greatly appreciate your astute observation!

Nice!
Thank you!
This is nostalgic for me as I got this for my son (now age 30 and about to be married!) when he was in college ❤

Easier just to go to McDonalds and get an Egg McMuffin. Get the hash browns too!!
