My wife and I have been watching your videos on a MacBook Pro but we got a 65 inch smart TV this week and this episode was beautiful on the big screen. We are heading out for two months out west in a few weeks. Your channel helped us to just get out and do it.
AH that is sweet you just got a 65 inch smart TV . Is it a SAMSUNG ? I bet the videos of Alaska on it are stunning. I just had temp use of a friends 40 inch TV & enjoyed it . It just fit in my entertainment center . Have a safe trip outwest. Are ya's RV'ers ? What type of rig do ya's have > I wish I had some sort of rig .
I was in the Army stationed in Anchorage at Ft Richardson for 2 years back in the late 70's the Army had a rec center in Seward where the soldiers could go fishing on charter boats, every year some of them needed new engines, so me being a wrecker operator I would spend a couple weeks helping swap engines, beautiful country, I have been to Wittier a couple times and stood on the beach you were camped on, and the changes, on your way back up to Anchorage you passed Portage Glacier, when I was there you could walk up and touch it, that's how much it's changed, great video keep them coming!
Been following you guys and a few other youtubers who live in their RV/Van full time. Most of them claimed they live this lifestyle by choice, but you can easily tell they really don't have a choice. They will be living on the street without their beat up rv, van, or their parents!! You guys on the other hand are completely different! You guys definitely live this lifestyle by choice and truly enjoying it! and with a lot of class too! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!
I put a TransferFlow 46 gallon on my Tundra last year. OMG its the best. I can get to the beach with ZERO fuel stops whereas before I usually stopped twice. I made it 585 miles to Disney with only 1 stop. Best thing ever.
A few years late to the game however I have just returned from Alaska, a 9500 mile trip. I can tell you all the upgrades are necessary! I broke the frame on my 5th wheel and totaled it. I was able to have it welded and pulled it home. If there’s a weak spot on your camper, the Alcan will find it.
I have never had the desire to go to Alaska until I viewed this video. This will be on our list of places to go in the next couple of years! Thank you!
Great season guy's, I did the trip in 16 and loved seeing alaska again thru your eyes. I switched to lithium and solar 5 years ago and would NEVER go back. Just a note on charging from your truck is that your alternator will fry your lithium, it's best to use a DC2DC charger that has a lithium setting on it. They run form 2-$400 most places. Ha! The whole time you were singing the praises of the upgrades I kept thinking back to those 17 flat tires you had in two days time when y'all first hit the road....hahaha! You've come a long way, baby! :-)
I passed y’all on Parks Hwy near Trappers Creek. We were headed to Anchorage, then to Valdez for some fishing. Glad y’all could come up to Alaska and experience it! I’m from Texas, but have lived here for 6 years and my wife and I are here for good! Keep these great videos coming!
I just found your channel. I must say that you 2 are natural on camera. I used to do an outdoor hunting and fishing show and have interviewed many people who can't speak on camera without a lot of "um's & and & ah" Great job guys. Good camera work and editing. Again nice work
Glad you touched on the higher costs in Alaska.... some just don't realize it's seasonal & everything has to be brought in & in some areas only by boat cause trucks can't get thru... for me it's worth it because it's so beautiful
The most important things to remember to not have any problem on the road is to pay attention and keep your speed down. I think that many travelers want to portray their trip to Alaska as a big adventure, As you found out, it's a cool road trip. Not the big adventure that it was maybe 50 years ago. Next month we head south again on trip number 31 down the Alaska Hwy. I really like your map transitions. Pretty cool! This was a very light year for mosquitos. Another great video...
Hello Marc & Trish , I love your alaska video,s I lived on Emendorf, AFB for a year and half 1974-75 and I loved Alaska watching these video,s brings a lot of memories , keep those amazing video,s coming, god bless ur family.
Fellow Air Force Veteran Thank You for your Service . My Cousin was stationed @ Elmendorf AFB when the earthquake hit Anchorage . He worked in the Accounting Department .
Great video! Love how you guys bounce back and forth with commentary. Solar is the best upgrade you can do to set freedom to the next level. Just finished a DIY install of 1920 watts on the roof, 1200ah of Lifeline batteries (wish we could have gone lithium) and a 3000w Xantrex PSW inverter. The possibilities are endless now!! Keep up the great content.
Great video's. I am getting back into camping after 8 years. No more 5th wheel camping, going with a 20 foot 2 plus my 80 year old mother in law. Oh and dog lol. Life changes and retirement is for three of us now. Pretty much everyone was affected by Covid. Just have to say great video's, excellent Hensley review and yuup a Hensley Cub will be bought. Have a great camping season. We have one more year 2022 to get everything lined up.
My 2019 F350 has a very small wire for charging the battery. I added a #8 wire for both positive and negative from one of my truck batteries through a quick disconnect plug to my trailer. I have a Mobile Suites 40 KSSB 4 with electric over hydraulic disc brake and it improved the braking because the braking system uses the trailer battery. The battery is also being drained by the inverter for the house refrigerator. I used a 30 amp fuse at the truck battery and the same at the trailer battery. You can buy the wire at Home Depot and it comes in a 30 ft. length.
For the truck not charging your trailer, Ford puts a kit in the trucks usually under the rear seat with fuses and relays to get 12v to charge the trailer.
The upgrades episode and the follow up were excellent and very useful. I’ve been a police officer for over 25 years. There’s a motto in my profession that also applies to your upgrades, “Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.” Have you considered tpms sensors for your trailer tires?
Yes, we use Tireminder. Great system. I need to do a video. What we have is on our Amazon page under RV Essentials www.amazon.com/shop/keepyourdaydream
Just got back from Alaska in our Class B RV. Spent a month in Alaska. The trip was amazing! Your videos are awesome and actually experiencing Alaska in person puts it on a different level. So much to see, not enough time nor money to see it all so we focused on our list of priorities as well as listened to suggestions of people we would meet along the way. Our top 3 were The Dalton Highway, Denali National Park with a small side trip to the movie prop bus from Into The Wild located at 49th State Brewing Company in Healy, and marine life cruise in Seward. Anything else we did was a bonus.
One note to remember while travelling through Alaska. You can be pulled over and fined for impeding traffic should you cause a backlog of cars behind your camper. If you have 5 or more cars behind you, at the earliest, safest spot to do so pull over and allow them to pass.
hi Trich and Marc just remember the solar panels are charging all the time the sun is out so its not totally necessary to have the alternator charging maybe for Alaska but further south you may not need it I dont have that setup but again I am in the brisbane area so sunlight is at a premium here love you guys and seeing where you go around your big country and especially when you went to NZ as I am from there but have been away for nearly 4 years keep up the good work.... Paul
Did you get you’re truck charging issue sorted? It’s possibly caused by the truck having a variable output alternator that is controlled by the vehicles ECU. To get past this issue you can try a few things. Firstly, check for voltage drop between the truck and trailer, this is the most common cause of trailer house battery charge issues. Second, try turning on the trucks headlights, this forces the alternator on charge. Third, a DC/DC charger/booster unit can be fitted to the trailer which will Force the alternator to charge. CTEK is one brand which has this type of product, Redarc is also very good. Lastly, if you’re truck has the option, fit a second alternator to the engine specifically dedicated to charge the trailer batteries.
I ordered a pigtail tester from Amazon for about 15.00. If no power to the 12 volt plug, check in connector box under the hood for the fuse. There is a sequence in the bulletin for hooking up. Turn off the truck before plugging into avoided blowing fuse. Then turn on truck and step on the brake pedal to power 12 voltage. Went through that with our 350 and Grand Design. Ford dealer didn't know about it. Neither did the RV dealer. Discovered it from an idependent sshop.
My F 150 was shipped without the relay to provide charging to the trailer through the 7 pin connector. Had one put in and now I can at least get some charging while driving. The wiring harness is too small to pump enough amps to charge if the house batteries are really run down.
I live just 20 miles from the morryde plant. I had there system put on a 35’ travel trailer. What a huge difference when towing. Great product. I hated to see it go when we bought our fiver this spring.
Marc and Tricia, all your videos are amazing and you "B roll" is absolutely stunning! Please keep up all the great work you guys are doing! P.S. Already waiting for next Sundays video! Thanks for all that you guys are doing and please stay safe! See ya next week!
Did you add the relay? FORD even with a tow package you have to buy it separately inorder for the 7 pin to charge the trailer battery. Claim the leave it out to limit corrosion.
Mark, I had a 2013 f150 that was not charging my house battery as I drove. Turned out there was a little electronic part that needed to be pluged in under the hood. It came with the truck new but was in a clear plastic wrap and I think it was in the glove box.
Hey Mark, from what I remember, the solar system you have, would almost represent a reverse polarity problem as it plugs are reversed from other systems. It’s proprietary to the system and from what I understand, you have to purchase reversed plugs to make it play with standard setups. If you didn’t reverse your input system from the truck, this might be your problem. Great video and love the surroundings where you are at. Have fun and keep up the good work....
Someday.... we just gone out with our rig for the first time. love your advice on how to not let the dip ruin the trip. we have a 18 ft single axle TT towing using a tacoma. I like your advice-on get out with what you have rather than wait for the perfect rig. The RV community is so nice too.
Your right on the bugs, different areas have more than others, and the weather is a key factor. We had a lot more sunshine than you are having on your trip. So glad your getting to see Alaska as we did on our trip. We may have covered more area than you have, so we're looking forward to where your headed next. LOVE your videos!!
In Alaska we live in our Xtra Tuff boots. They used to be made in USA and then a few years ago they began being made in China; still they are good boots and one way to tell if someone has been to Alaska.
This video update was excellent! We won't be going back to Alaska for several years, but I always go to your videos for specific locations we are traveling to and these will be a "must do" before we plan our trip. Jerry works from the road so I am not as concerned about cell coverage after your comments, but it is a must for him to stay connected. You guys are awesome! Trish, I see that you now have the standard issue Alaska boots! Love! Safe travels!
Let me tell you my wife and I love you videos we have had just about every kind of camper there is .Now that I am fully retired from Caterpillar with 45 years we plan to trade in our 32 foot travel trailer for a class a motor home. We were just tired of hooking and unhooking and the rest of what goes with having a pull behind so hope to see you on the road sometime good luck with your travels and be safe.
We are re-viewing all the Alaska trip videos! Fun to see the changes a few years bring. 😃 Our Alaska trip will begin in 7 weeks, and this helps us so much - thank you!
Yes, about half of the RV trailers have the diamond plate. Your going to need it if your going to AK. Also watch out in the gravel construction sections, we lost a RV window in a construction zone near Destruction Bay. "ONLY" because the "OTHER" pilot car going the other way for a coffee break was traveling at 50+ mph and showered everyone with gravel...!!!!!!! Rock went right thru my dinette window.
As a hunting guide in the Yukon I found that the mosquitos were the worst around June, in high humidity (lots of rain) and zero wind. I once had a white horse that looked grey from all the mosquitos feasting on it! July and August are much better (drier), but September becomes unbearable with the hatching of the no-see-ums (Black Flies).
I'm surprised you don't have shocks on the camper. I installed the Dexter EZ-Ride with heavy duty shocks, really smoothed out the 5th wheel RV ( along with an air ride pin box) and gave better control on rough roads. That beefing up the bracket is a good idea, going to do that to mine.
Loved the video. Particularly your review on your rig’s improvements. We plan a four month trip to Alaska next year. I did work in Anchorage for four years, visited all the places you mentioned, but didn’t “take my time and enjoyed it”. So I plan to this time. If you are planning a night out in Anchorage, visit the F Street Station. The very best beer battered Halibut and Caesar salad you have ever tasted. Plus the atmosphere in the place is amazing. The place was owned by a bush pilot and is decorated all in “airplane”. The other place is outside of town, a local hangout, The Peanut Farm, great burgers. Eat out on the patio, and bring the camera. In Girdwood, ride the tram to the top of Alyeska ski resort and get a bite to eat at “ The Double Musky”... Great places. Enjoy and I hope you get these comments on time.
Great quality to the video. We spent a little more than 3 weeks RVing around Alaska this summer, and it was amazing. Can't wait to get back. Also, can't wait to check out more of your videos. Well done.
We have been trying to drive to Alaska since May 30th and since the border to Canada is still closed (due to the virus) we are going to try again to leave on July 21st (this is when it is now supposed to open). We live in Indianapolis. My question is how late can you leave the lower 48 to have a nice safe sort of warm 6 week trip to Alaska and back. Love your videos and is probably why we want to drive to Alaska so much. We took an Alaskan cruise last summer and got a glimpse of how wonderful Alaska is but we want more. My the way we have this little race every year (this year in August) and it is something that everyone should see at least once in their life. We can host you.
So proud of you share all your videos with us it looks like you're all having a great time and doing it while you're young enough to enjoy it with your kids God bless you be safe
Firestone Ride Rite air bags Check, MorRyde 3000 with Monroe shocks Check, Viair pump Check....Diamond plate front RV covered Check. I only have a 26 gal gas tank...The longest distance between gas stations was the Northern section of the Cassier at 126 miles. In Dawson Creek Visitor pick up their "gas, food & Lodging" print-out. Each year they update it with the corresponding mile marker....
KYD - You totally rock the RV scene. Love how you guys put your videos together. We were so inspired by you we have started our journey...we're not on the road yet...but getting close. Thank you so much for your inspiring content. xxx
Mark, I have a 2018 f150 platinum and I also have the bmv712 and battleborn batteries (2). The ford has a “smart” trailer connect and I have noticed it will not supply power unless I put the transmission into drive and I used the electronic parking brake and power was supplied. You may want to be actually driving and check your bmv712 to see the power going into your batteries - just a suggestion. I’m under the impression that ford did this to protect the truck battery from being drained accidentally. Keep in mind if you use the regular brakes you will be activating your electric trailer brakes and will probably see a bigger drain than power being added that is why I used the parking brake. You probably won’t see much more than 9-10 amps from the truck.
I've done all that. I know it won't send power back until those steps are done, but I'm getting nothing at any time - even with my 6v batteries. I've added the fuse too. I think it's just broken.
Keep Your Daydream Over the weekend I tested this again with my F150 and my new jayco 322rlok w residential frig and 1200/2400 inverter powering it. While driving and monitoring my bmv712 It seemed to only reduce my battery draw down by maybe 1-2 amps. My batteries where only down maybe 10ah from the 200ah total - I wonder if the charge from the truck varies with the battery voltage, and especially since we are using lithium the voltage doesn’t drop like lead acid does. My reason for this thinking is I had initially ran most of my 12volt systems from my 7 pin connection to test my new camper before any batteries had been installed. I was able to operate my slides and electric auto level while only connected to my truck. On a side note when you get to your hitching video could you share how your airbags help when combined with the hensley and the process you follow when setting both up - I’m debating w my self if I should add airbags - does it help on those concrete highways that cause that excessive bounce or does it just help level out more? Thanks
Stress will ruin any experience and having peace of mind will enhance any experience. Therefore it's always better to have your bases covered with the right equipment and "overkill" is an oxymoron. Y'all are doin it right :-)
That's true. Stress and being in a hurry take the fun out of anything. We're finding new ways to push us out of our comfort zone. More to come... but SN6 will do just that.
Your vids are very very good you kept me all the way through we learned a lot ,you did on your rig A LOT 😁 I still think you need a dulley single tire blow outs are wicked tkx for out of site vid
We saw the hat! Gingiana Jones is in Alaska baby! Still waiting for my mention though. 🤣 Beautiful footage, great information, great video. Thanks KYD!
I absolutely love your channel, its on my bucket list to be able to camp a full 7 day not including travel time. This Alaska trip looks refreshing, thanks for sharing.
We really enjoy watching your channel and getting so much valuable information to help us with our travels in our Rockwood Mini Lite. Our Labradoodle, Maggie travels with us, as Charlie does with you. That brings me to my question; what do you do with Charlie when you are hiking, going to restaurants, National Parks etc? Does he stay in the Airstream, and if so, how long do you feel comfortable leaving him? We want to take Maggie with us everywhere, but know that is not possible, so just would like to hear what works for you guys! Keep us the great job, we love it!
GUYS, guys guys guys. Thank you so much for this video. I just happened onto it doing my normal searches. I felt like you were actually speaking and having a conversation with me, personally. This is the most grownup video I think I’ve seen on UA-cam. I take that back, it is the most grown up conversation I’ve ever seen on here. I have definitely subscribed and will continue to watch y’all on here. And thank you so very much for the links. I’ve not clicked on them yet but I will be. I’ve been wondering how this stuff works. Putting videos on here and actually making money doing them. What I’d really like to know is how to get sponsors to donate things to try out and make videos on. Guys thanks again. Can you PM on here? I’d like to ask some more questions and not put my business out for everyone to see. Thanks again.
One of the very few negatives on our trip from Anchorage to Indiana just three weeks ago was the hordes of bugs we drove though in Canada. Judging from the bug-strikes we must have made a severe dent in their population! It was imperative to get out the glass cleaner and squeegee at every fuel stop and sometimes more often. Dragonflys, of course, made the biggest splats! Once we got to Indiana it took an hour to wash off all the bug guts which were even found on the sides and roof! I popped the air filter assembly open yesterday and dumped out about a hundred (not exaggerating) bug body parts. Interestingly they were almost entirely bees of various types and sizes. Hopefully they will be pretty much gone when we start our return trip in a few days and will probably be completely gone when you make your return trip.
Great video again! Couldn’t agree more when it comes to the air bags. Keeping everything level is very important. Nothing worse that having someone flash you with high beams thinking you have your brights on when it’s really just your nose in the sky. Also being level keeps your front suspension geometry correct which is very important while towing a heavy load. Safe travels!
Mark & Trish, Deb and I live through you vicariously! Love the videos and your reviews. Keep it safe, drive safe and see you next Sunday, from our campsite.
Loving your channel!! Was wondering if you would do a “winter” series? Winter upgrades, and reviews. My wife and I just bought our first RV and plan on wintering in it this year, so it will be interesting! That’s for all the fun videos, I have enjoyed them.
Another enjoyable video. Of the items listed, the units connecting the leaf springs caught my attention as it is an upgrade I planned on making anyway and will further check them out. Thanks again.
Regarding your comments about the campground, etc. ... keep in mind you are talking about the conditions THIS YEAR... it may or may not be that way next year ... in other words, it varies by the year. SO ... what does one do?? Speaking as an Alaska (16+years in North Pole) ... you pays your money and you takes your chances.
📌Had to pin a comment. So many people have mentioned Tricia's boots. We'll share more about them when the channel catches up to Homer & Seward. Trish wears them everyday up here. Here is the link. There are several styles and Trish got the fish amzn.to/2MYXebv
I wear Xtratuf almost everyday, better know as break up boots.
Love those boots!
Looks like the British "Wellies" (Wellingtons). Nice, btw
Looks like she is wearing Xtratuf boots, my company uses them exclusively in all of our Alaska Seafood processing plants.

" Do you need an onboard air system with a quick disconnect?... No...That's just really cool" 😂😂😂👍👍👍
I stand by that comment :)
Gratuitous comment to offset your expenses. Thumbs up for some of the best content on UA-cam.
I need to quit my job and do this fulltime. Life is short.
Man, I wish!
Lol better win the lotto first

We flew to Alaska this summer and rode all over on Alaska Railroad. I can’t wait to return with the RV! Alaska is a bucket list destination for sure.
Gets the juices flowing and alleviates some of the common concerns. Thank for dispelling the “fear”. All too often fear sells.
This is the only show that I watch as soon as it becomes available. The helpful hints are great. The upgrades are very helpful. But the interaction between Trish and Marc is just wonderful. As someone who is moving to alaska via RVing, this video cannot be stressed enough, thanks for the info guys!
Mosquito season is usually Mothers day to Fathers day here in the mountains of NH.

The hitch upgrade for our Chevy Silverado made our trip through Texas so worth it. The winds and winding roads through El Paso
Paul
Your videos keep getting better and better. Thank you so much for sharing them.
As always, thanks for letting us tag along. Laugh a little, learn a little and oooh, ahhh allot !
Hey best way to fix them chips in paint or gel coat, my opinion is to use the hard rhino liner coating over it
I live just 20 miles from the morryde plant.
I added the relay fuse. Is there anything else?
Your videos are so good I only watch them when I'm at work on the clock. Ahhh So relaxing :-)
love trish's alaska style foot wear !!
Your vids have gotten so good and I think I'm about to go to your school. You do so well with the tips and the vlog, and the inspiring scenic clips.
Mark, I had a 2013 f150 that was not charging my house battery as I drove. Turned out there was a little electronic part that needed to be pluged in under the hood. It came with the truck new but was in a clear plastic wrap and I think it was in the glove box.
Same was true for my '13 F150. I added the fuse and was good to go. I've added the fuse to the F250 and still nothing.
Yes people still like to talk on the phone. Enjoy your travels.
Some rvs only charge when your lights are on. It prevents draining the truck battery overnight by mistake.
Awesome info, not sure why the thumbs down. Guess there are just some negative people no mater what. Keep on keepin on guys!!!
It's a small club and I'm happy I'm not a member :)
Someday.... we just gone out with our rig for the first time. love your advice on how to not let the dip ruin the trip. we have a 18 ft single axle TT towing using a tacoma. I like your advice-on get out with what you have rather than wait for the perfect rig. The RV community is so nice too.
Love the tunnel to Whittier. We took it by train on our RV tour to Alaska. The Railroad tour from Anchorage to Whittier and back was a wonderful trip
You two are amazing together! Your teaching techniques are awesome, thank you for taking the time to make us a part of your journey
When we traveled the Alcan last in 1970 it was 1,350 miles of gravel road from White Horse to the Border.
Well done.
Trish I want to thank you for the great idea about cleaning strawberries.
Couldn't hardly wait for the video to post. As always you do not disappoint, see ya next week! Safe Travels
I lived there Fairbanks Alaska you Guys are in the most free place in the United States GREAT SHOW LOVED IT
Love the technical vids! Driver fatigue is a real deal. Protecting your investment and equipment is easy $. Safe travels!
Awesome as usual! I think about your new episode all day on Sunday. So happy when I see it posted.
The charging issue is probably a blown fuse under the hood , look on the driver side near the master cylinder for a fuse holder.
Great to see you guys this week as usual !!! Still enjoying the Alaska journey with you guys ... missing the kids though ..😟😟
That tunnel look pretty scary and cool! But I will travel one day! I know my boys will go with me!
Thank you so much for your inspiring content. xxx
Awesome! Great job making it happen. Not easy. Worth it.
Keep Your Daydream
Over the weekend I tested this again with my F150 and my new jayco 322rlok w residential frig and 1200/2400 inverter powering it.
Thanks
Hey Mark. I installed shocks on my trailer. Made a very noticeable difference when driving rough roads.
I'm considering a DRW if/when we move to a 5er. We'll see.
You would not have enjoyed the ALCAN back in '71 when I drove it. 1,485 miles of rock and gravel after leaving Dawson Creek. Great videos!
We saw the hat! Gingiana Jones is in Alaska baby! Still waiting for my mention though. 🤣
Beautiful footage, great information, great video.
Thanks for sharing, can't wait to get to Alaska. Can't believe they don't box in the leaf springs at the factory. Look forward to next week!
We left in March and returned in October. 41 Ft 5er
That's true. We had a lot of bugs on the truck in MT and Canada too.
Stumbled upon your youtube today. Great job. To the point and you guys are fun to watch and work together well. So a subscription for me.
Welcome. We have a playlist for each season - easier to watch in order :)
Mark & Trish, Deb and I live through you vicariously! Love the videos and your reviews. Keep it safe, drive safe and see you next Sunday, from our campsite.
Practical, helpful, useful and warm hearted, always appreciate the cleanness of your clarity--does that make sense? Safe travels.
Loving your channel!! Was wondering if you would do a “winter” series? Winter upgrades, and reviews. My wife and I just bought our first RV and plan on wintering in it this year, so it will be interesting! That’s for all the fun videos, I have enjoyed them.
The most entertaining Q&A I have ever watched.
Trish, I love the boots, LOL. Great update guys.........
