Just a note on many watches with an altimeter. Many cheaper ones, those under $500.00, use barometric pressure to guestimate your altitude These need to be recalibrated daily as weather moves in and out. I had a Casio with these features and I lived at an elevation of 5899 feet. Some mornings I would look at my watch and it would say near 5500 feet and I think once that it had me at around 6400 feet. The point is make sure you know that the watch is using USGS elevation data and not using a pressure sensor. :)
Great episode, Carson is a new man! Good for him taking down the old man, and doing it so confidently! That's an interesting time for dads and sons, but it can't be beat. Good job Carson and Marc!
I enjoy watching your channel and I just realized when Trish picked up Carson from summer camp he was at CMA. My son Tim was one of the trap shooting instructors there. What a small world we live in. I hope he had fun.
Anyone reading this that is NOT a KYD insider? YOU need to be. These videos really show so much but the joy that is this family is even better via being an insider on the group and the Pateron page. So, go support them.
You may not see this since it is an older video but wanted to thank you for sharing your thoughts on parenting and thoughts on developing strengths. We had an hour long car ride with the kids today and we talked about this with them. It was a great conversation. Thanks again.
Boy, are you going to have to up your game Sir, your young man isn't so little anymore and will keep you on your toes (in a good way). Have his stories of "Camp" been good? Have you told your wife about your great survival skills in acquiring and preparing food while she was gone? Love every episode guys. Oh, yea did LJMJ tell you their great news? Thank You for what your doing. OLT
I LOVE how much you guys care about other people! It truly shines through your videos, even the videos without meetups. I’m talking every encounter. It’s awesome!!
Great to see the father/son competition and quality time. Would have been great to see some Mom/Son quality time at the pickup. Keep up the great work. Always love your videos.
Yes! Each child is different. Each will have their own strengths, challenges etc. We home educate 5 kiddos (not easy). Our 1st did the whole college thing, loves science! The next one wants to learn a trade. Another has a gift for the arts and so on... Good for you to allow each of yours the space and support to find their "blue flame". :-)
Wonderful reflections on how to support your children's interests--thanks for that segment--such a good teaching method in all situations! Safe travels.
Welcome back Carson with the growth spurt! Trish, when you and Marc were wrestling with that window cover I busted a gut laughing. Great video as always. My Sunday eve is sated. Thanks for all you do!! Jim.
Now that looked like some fabulous smoked ribs! We always look forward to Sunday night and the KYD update. Thank you so much for sharing your inspiration, lives and travels with us. Marc, mentioned to Trish how stressful airline travel, car rental and hotel stays are. Sue and I can’t agree more. I would rather RV anytime.
If you have an iPhone the compass app shows elevation. It was super handy on our trip to Colorado. But I also understand the want for something that tracks all of the things.
Another great video! Kids grow up so fast which is why your decision to go on your “6 month” trip will give them & you lifelong memories. Speaking of going with a person’s strengths, It’s obvious Marc’s is not cooking, Lol! Thank goodness for Bob! I love your videos & your interactions! I know there’s a lot of work in post production & I appreciate all of it. Safe travels & can’t wait for the next episode!
Yalls videos are just awesome. Wanted to say thanks for sharing your adventures and letting us all live them with you. Watching them really makes you seem like friends. Stay safe and thanks again.
OMG, I can't believe how much Carson has grown up!!! He is going to be a good looking and very smart officer one day. All three of the kids have such cool talents. The ending scenery is stunning.
Ah, this one really resonated with me! We also have 3 kids, and although ours are younger than yours (8, 5, and 3 yo) I am already amazed at how different they each are and how little control we have over their developing personalities. Thought I knew everything when the first was born and that I was the best parent ever (he's the "easy" one), then came number 2, and then our wild card number 3! Humbling indeed. Ha!
Love *everything* about your vids but I'd like to mention this: it is particularly enjoyable to see a long shot view of a city you are visiting. In this case, of course, it was the view of Anchorage from afar...gives great perspective of the size of and surrounding area of the city/town you are visiting. It's all GREAT! Thank you for the ride....:-)
I love how you encourage your kids to pursue their natural gifts, talents and interests. We've tried to do the same and it's so rewarding to watch them grow and develop their skills.
So funny, we’ve been watching LJMJ for a while longer than you but we don’t catch every single video. Working on catching up on your videos so It was neat to see a crossover video.
I really enjoyed this episode! Soooo much traveling really left you looking exhausted! Carson is super tall! He looks older more mature! Love your family. Thanks for sharing. Oh yeah...and Alaska! :)
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Carson has got the old man in his sights. Great when they surpass us and we know everything was worth it. Enjoy the ride. You all be safe. Safe travels. Later.
Another awesome video! Thank you for sharing about the concept of investing in one’s strengths. I believe that, I think teams could apply that too. Figure out what your team members are good at, what they love, what their passion is and then give them the tools to succeed... then just ‘get-out-their-way! Your videos are very inspiring, thank you for sharing your inspiration, good vibes, tips, and travels.
Good to see Carson back! Loved seeing this weeks video and love that Carson's "trap" talk paid off. lol Beautiful views once again. Love that you were able to take the "blinds" down, I too need the sunrise in order to rise, if it's dark, it means I'm still sleeping. lol I think I am going to miss Alaska when you guys leave. If you get to Wasilla, please tell my friend hi from me. lol I have two friends in Alaska but have never been there. Love seeing it through your camera. Looking forward to next weeks video.
Welcome home Carson...nice shooting!! About that smartwatch idea...I'm an android user (Samsung S7 Active smartphone and Samsung Frontier S3 smartwatch). I can monitor my HR, and it also has an Alti Barometer. Water resistant and tough.
Debbie Downer here....I've owned two Garmin Watches and they are amazing.......then they break...so if hiking I recommend the handheld versions, biking the Garmin 800 series. Its been a couple years so maybe they've gotten better. Thanks for the videos.
Just a fantastic video!. You are up there in the professional range my friend. I could watch an hour video from y'all, it goes by so quick since I enjoy it so much. Hope to meet up with ya'll some time.
I finished binge watching last week and caught up to the current episode. I have been anxiously awaiting today’s video. It didn’t disappoint. Carson has really grown in the past 6 weeks!
Still so bummed to miss your meetup. It was the night before we started our rv living adventure so we were too busy to get to the other side of town! Hope I get to a meetup some other time and place!
I look forward to your videos every Sunday! I like when you show things your doing and seeing but I also love the "random" ones like this that show the day to day life and your personalities! It felt like a throw back to the first season and getting to know you guys all over again. Loved this video.
Hello Marc, Tricia & family, great season so far. Each season and each video gets better and better. Your fuel updates are awesome and great information for planning. Along with the fuel info, I am curious about your DEF consumption throughout the trip? I assume there haven't been any challenges with availability. Thanks for the videos and look forward to following more of your adventures. Until we meet on the road, be happy, grateful, and safe.
Trish your positive attitude is amazing! Mark your videos are fantastic! Thanks for sharing your adventures & family life with all of us, so entertaining & enjoyable to watch. I look forward to your videos just as much if not more than any TV show in the past, don't even watch TV anymore so much more fun to watch all the full time RV familes instead. And yes Carson definitely grew a bunch! Looking forward to next Sunday's video 😊
I'm an absolte nut about breaking clays. It's great to see youth getting in to it! Ben Avery has an amazing clay target center. If I were you, I'd make clay breaking spots a must stop in every state for sure. Rent a gun, buy some shells, have some fun. Great video, glad to see the reunion. Check out sporting clays too. It's golf with a gun.
We love your show! Watching it in order, so we’re in Charleston, SC - where my fiancé is from. Just wanted to peak ahead to say Hi! We’ll be RV’n ourselves when we retire in a few years! Keep it up! Y’all are great! Love all the tips and advice we’ll use ourselves when it’s our turn! 😉😀
Take something you are good at at perfect it, I think this about sums up your video and documentary skills.. You guys never cease to impress me with your ability to keep this channel interesting. Welcome back Carson, great shooting!!
Thanks Mike. I really didn't like this video and it was hard to edit. I thought it would only be interesting to our community, but pleased with the feedback. Thanks.
Great video, guys. That "hike" looked like a killer; don't blame Caleb for not going to the peak! That Carson-man has really grown; so good seeing him, again. Sorry about your breakdown elec probs; glad they were easily (?) solved. Isn't it great that Nate and Marisa will be having little feet in the Airstream?!?!? Again, Be Safe!
Hey Carson! Being a pilot can be a great career choice, especially if you want to continue with an RV lifestyle. I'm an airline pilot working for a Chinese airline. I work one month on and one month off. We just bought a travel trailer which we'll use for some family road trips on my month off. There are a lot of interesting flying jobs worldwide. Great videos. My entire family loves the channel.
Yes! And lots of people get their start with Bush Flying in Alaska. ...if that's your thing. You need 500+ hours of experience usually to get your foot in the door.
You folks are AWESOME! You have inspired us to document our travels... even though we are vacation and weekend type travelers! Thanks for always having such a positive outlook!
Another great video. Now I want to go to Alaska. Not yet! I still have more exploring of the lower 48. Though the next short road trip is on the planning. Going to an SF con with a friend. And I love the great news. LJMJ announced today that Marissa is pregnant! Yeah! They've been trying for a while. Hensley is going to be a big sister. Mom's prepping her without telling her why yet.
Happy Carson and Tricia made it back to Anchorage safely! That's a ton of traveling in a short period of time. Marc it looks like you and Tricia have created some serious shotgun shooting competition!!! Awesome life skills! Can't wait for next Sunday night.
I totally agree with you about putting a lot into kids in what they are good at. I wish my folks would have done that instead they focused on how much money 💰 it would bring in. So instead of going to interlochin school of performing arts they fought tooth and nail to discourage me. But I got married to a great guy and he sent me to music school for college. But if my folks would have done what you are with your kids who knows where I would be now. Though I am an accomplished flautist. Way to go!!!!
Mark, I had to have "The Watch" to track my travels and adventures. I know Garmin is a good brand, but check out Suunto before you buy. They have just as much to offer as Garmin and I find them easier to use....AND you can make little videos about your day by linking your watch to your phone or computer. Just a little tidbit of info.
Same thing happened with our Reflection - finally figured it out😬. Glad Carson is back - loved the pic with Trish and him in uniform! Another awesome video - thanks for sharing! 😎
Eating ribs with a fork. lol Great videos guys. If you're ever in Cloudcroft NM get some BBQ from Mad Jacks. Simply amazing. Or if you're ever driving north on 35W between Ft Worth and Denton Tx stop at 407BBQ. They're great as well.
I have the same 1100... mine is a "full" choke, I then bought a 1187 the following year with "choke tubes" because I couldn't find another barrel for my 1100.
I have an excellent app on my Google Pixel2 phone, “My Elevation”, which gives me the exact to where I’m standing elevation. I’ve used it all over the country. Great episode as always.
Well that was another awesome video thank you sir. Those ribs look really awesome you make me wanna go buy some ribs tonight thank you for that lol. In your son Carson is sure growing into a fine young man that is fantastic congratulations you guys have done a great job with your children lol Take care stay safe in can't wait to see next Sunday
Loved the video. I looked forward to seeing these every week. I'm taking your advice and getting away. Heading to Kartchner Caverns for the Labor Day weekend. Thank you guys. Safe travels.
Another great video and welcome home, Carson! As you know, there are lots of great opportunities in aviation and I look forward to watching your journey to become a pilot. Concerning the Garmin - Fenix 5x has maps saved on device hard drive, big sapphire screen, and has all of the cool smartphone/heart rate/elevation features. It’s a whole new world and a pretty good one. :)
Local Tip: Flattop is also one of the easiest places to see the big bull moose with their racks when the moose rut starts in September. They can be within feet of you. It isn’t uncommon to see 10-15 at one time. It is also where they spar.
Way to go Carson, great shooting! Marc, thanks for your response to the Saguaro comment, what a small world! So where to after Alaska? Thanks for all the vid's. I really look forward to them every Sunday! Love you guys. Take care and be safe out there, you might really run across a grizzly in the wild :)
Silver Ginger! I have the Garmin Fenix HR and love it. Haven't taken it off in over a year. Glonass, GPS, Altimeter, and it's just COOL! You will love it! Keep on keepin' on!
Hi to you Guys, make sure you eat at the Spit while in Homer, we ate at Capt. Pattys, it's excellent!! Tell Patty, Doug from Vegas referred you . We ate there Last week.
Good to see Carson back. My how he has grown. Good vlog. So interesting. Is Tori starting college yet? Would like to see her. Have a safe trip. Beautiful scenery. See ya next Sunday. Always waiting for Sunday evening to get here to see you guys.😎
Nice to see Carson back in the vlog . Loved the picture of Trish & Carson in his uniform . Does he go to a military academy . Carson you looked very handsome in your uniform . Watching Caleb & Mark eating the ribs made my mouth water . They looked so delish . That was nice of Bob to smoke them for you .
Thanks for your reply . If he chooses to go to school there will it be for high school or college ? Are any family family members active duty military or Veterans ? My father , brother , 3 uncles , a cousin , my dads father we are all veterans .
Flattop is not the “locals” hike, but more like the “tourist” hike of anchorage. Regardless, very much appreciate the video. moved from anchorage a few months ago and it gave me the perfect amount of nostalgia
Great video, guys! I know I say this every time, but this is the best one yet. Anchorage and Alaska and general are different in your videos from what I imagined. I was expecting to see pine trees, bears and snow everywhere. It doesn't seem like people really get cold there, at least maybe not in the Summer. I liked the side trip to Chicago. I went there once with the sole purpose of paying a girl a surprise visit. Said girl was out of town. I was so upset that I headed to Wisconsin. That trip was nice, but I always regretted not exploring the Windy City. Thanks for showing me what I missed. That advice on supporting your kids in their endeavors and interest is very good. I'll keep that one in mind. My kids are still young enough that one of them still wants to be a paleontologist (he's mad about dinosaurs) and my little girl wants to be a ballet dancing princess. See you guys next week! AW, Navojoa, Mexico.
This was one of your best videos. Very insightful about the advice for your kids. We did something very similar with ours and the results have been great. It is exciting for us to see our kids blossom as they pursue their passions. Btw, did Flat Top Mountain in Feb on a rare sunny day, absolutely stunning.
We forgot to mention that the Alaska Zoo is an orphan & injured wildlife zoo 👍
Just a note on many watches with an altimeter. Many cheaper ones, those under $500.00, use barometric pressure to guestimate your altitude These need to be recalibrated daily as weather moves in and out.
I had a Casio with these features and I lived at an elevation of 5899 feet. Some mornings I would look at my watch and it would say near 5500 feet and I think once that it had me at around 6400 feet.
The point is make sure you know that the watch is using USGS elevation data and not using a pressure sensor. :)
Its one of the FEW zoos I will go to because of that fact.
The picture of Trish and Carson in his uniform brought tears to my eyes.. such a wonderful family
Lol 😂 “Trish lets start talking about that F450 now “ ..............
*In my best Englishman playing a Frenchman in the future* "Make it so Number One"
You all are putting tremendous energy into your video production and it shows. Every episode just gets better and better. Great job!
I’d like to get the supplies for this card and help my little 8 year old granddaughter make a card like you are showing us .

Thank You for what your doing. OLT
That was fantastic news from LJMJ! Really thrilled for them!
Welcome back Carson!!! & CONGRATS on the shooting!! AWESOME JOB!!! Looking so HANDSOME in your outfit too!!! Love you guys big Hugs!!!!
Sitting in a cube - my day got 100 times better after watching you guys living it up! Love it.
Great tip with leaving the silver bubble wrap in windows, especially for storage
hello, it's Carson's old friend Tyler from elementary school in AZ, your guys' adventures look amazing and Carson has changed so much!
I’m glad Carson is back safe and tall lol . Great to see you all.
I LOVE how much you guys care about other people! It truly shines through your videos, even the videos without meetups. I’m talking every encounter. It’s awesome!!
Loveeee the parenting advice at the end! I have a 1 year old and I think these things even apply right now! Focus on strengths and not weaknesses.
Welcome back Carson! You were missed.
Our family loves th RV. Just exploring our home state has been a blast. We hated hotels and fast food, Now we have a home on wheels
KYD is winning @ Life 😁 love this Channel
Great to see the father/son competition and quality time. Would have been great to see some Mom/Son quality time at the pickup. Keep up the great work. Always love your videos.

I wholeheartedly agree!
Another great video and the barbecue looked delish! Carson looked so handsome in uniform. Safe travels all.
Welcome back Carson with the growth spurt!
Trish, when you and Marc were wrestling with that window cover I busted a gut laughing.

Love the video and all the out door activities.
How did I not remember the shootin' competition! 2020 is really taking its toll on me 😂! Thanks for the reminder link Marc!
So funny, we’ve been watching LJMJ for a while longer than you but we don’t catch every single video. Working on catching up on your videos so It was neat to see a crossover video.
I loved this video, great job! So glad Carson's back and to see how he's growing up! He's amazing.
I love the intro to this haha so funny... Trish your adorable and funny as heck!
Another great video. I at one point had great aspirations to become a pilot. Tell Carson never compromise and give up his dreams.
I really enjoyed this episode! Soooo much traveling really left you looking exhausted! Carson is super tall! He looks older more mature! Love your family. Thanks for sharing. Oh yeah...and Alaska! :)
I'm glad your feelilng better ! I hope your pup is doing ok... I have 5 of them and I know how much it hurts to see them suffer..
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Carson has got the old man in his sights. Great when they surpass us and we know everything was worth it. Enjoy the ride. You all be safe. Safe travels. Later.

Glad you are back together. How about an update on Tory-- how is she doing in school? Nice video.
Another great video
We homeschooled our kids as well. You are doing a great job giving them experiences in what they are interested in! Love the videos.
Another great video !!! Looking forward to next Sunday...
Great video. Carson very handsome in his uniform. Caleb is very funny. They sure grow up fast indeed. Stay safe and have fun until next time.

Wow, great video of Chicago, made me homesick.
You guys rock. I look forward to every episode.
I want to find BOB camping next to us! Those BBQ ribs looked great! 😅

Thx. Turning off the TV was the first step toward making our dreams happen.
Glad you are having a great time. Today is our 58th anniversary and we were honored at church. It's been a nice day. Happy trails
Wow. Happy Anniversary. Big accomplishment!
Welcome back Carson!
Really enjoy your guys' videos ... keep them coming. Alaska is a trip I want to do in a few years when we get our new rig setup!
Love it! Excellent video as usual! Love Carson, good to see him well and back!

I spent a lot of time at Ben Avery as a kid. Haven't been there in a long time. No need to rent. The RV makes a good mobile gun safe :)

I've known quite a few people who became flight instructors to collect hours. You get paid and get air time at the same time.
You folks are AWESOME! You have inspired us to document our travels... even though we are vacation and weekend type travelers! Thanks for always having such a positive outlook!

Buy the F450 even if you don't need it! I just picked up one the same color as your truck. These new super duty trucks are amazing.

It’s always good to get one of your flock back
I second the garmin watch!!! Nice shooting Carson!
Continue to enjoy your videocumentaries. can you tell us what you do to combat the longer drives and fatigue?
Welcome back Carson, can't believe how tall he got :)
Trish just got back from moving Tori into the dorm. It should be a fun episode and I'm excited to edit it. Another 3 weeks.
PS : and for the pork , corn & coleslaw .
He might want to. The camp was to find out if it was for him and he liked it. We'll see what happens next.
Always fun to see you guys having fun in Alaska....Awesome...
Lol it’s soo funny, when u guys came here I was in Arizona 😂😅
