LOL I literally heard his voice
He would say this too
🤦🏾♂️🤣
Tom can't age scientology keeps him at 40 years forever

Oh well poor Marty is dead
@Video Blend it’s a 1:1 model train, you mean
@@cadenthecadburyengine8198 he didn't have time paint it or do it to scale
Marty didn't make it🥺
Props to the train for doing its own stunts
Everyone is talking about Tom Cruise... Tom Cruise here... Tom Cruise there... But what about this train? That's commitment.
He died doing what he loved.
It must have gone through rigorous train-ing
This is part 1 so maybe it makes a comeback in part 2 lol
Hahhahaha😂😂😂
It's amazing to now know that the whole DeLorean and Marty inside it were all added-in in post-production. Truly breathtaking work.
Just in case anyone wanders by here and is looking for a straight answer: no, that is NOT a steam engine from the Golden Age. Film crew literally built one from the wheels up just so they could destroy it.
They had one chance to get the shot right from multiple angles. They wouldn't be able to re-do it if they messed it up.
“We had to build the train if we wanted to destroy it,” the film’s director, co-writer, and producer Christopher McQuarrie said in a short behind-the-scenes documentary shared by Paramount Pictures on UA-cam. The crew actually built three working replicas of the luxurious locomotive
oh thank god i was so worried there
Man you know people ask during an action filled trailer for a movie what wasn't cgi, but with a mission impossible trailer you have to ask what was cgi.
specially in first one with heli in tunel... ;)
@@mrpicky1868 Hmm, thinking about that....if you think just about all the stunts has he done in these movies, specifically, it seems like the tunnel stunt, flying back to the train and how it happens seems like the MOST impossible...so to speak. Everything else, from MI2 on seems like stunts you can believe someone like him could pull off realistically but with a "OMG WTF, but that was so cool" vibe.
The flying from the heli was like "GTFOOH...but that was so cool". I guess the closest would be the bridge stunt from MI3 and the ending car chase in the duststorm from MI4.
Tom Cruises height.
and there is also a simulated waterfall on the rock

they would secure the perimeter before shot😂
They probably remove em with VFX
That's why we have security on set and if that fails, we have very expensive lawyers.

A long time ago, a little engine was returning home. It was a misty moonlit night. Suddenly, the engine lost control, and plunged over the side, into the swamps below. He was never found again. But many of workmen will tell you that when the moon is full, they have seen the little engine trying to get home. But he never reaches the other side.
@Rachel Butler-Peck Things that go bump in the night? Rubbish!

Apparently they did flesh out and provide a name for that character later. “Proteus” - learned something new

People joking about Tom driving the train when he's probably really flying the helicopter.
This video is almost a year old, and it’ll probably get even more popular when the movie eventually comes out
Now out already!
"Thomas no, don't do it, sir Topham Hatt thinks you're a very fine engine indeed!"

That's so painful to watch as a steam engine enthusiast just seeing that go down.
I don't like it when Dragons get killed in movies. Same idea.
@@AzrialAlaria Me too
@@ButterfatFarms ah, good to know
If it had been a real steam locomotive, it would have had an explosion that would rival a MOAB when it hit the ground from all that steam pressure.
@@DarthJermz I was wondering the same with saying why no explosion from the boiler steam pressure.
I saw the finished movie last night and generally thought it was good as a vehicle for some great chase scenes, but not much else.
This train crash had me baffled. They made such a big deal about building a replica steam locomotive, then making it do a half-gainer into a quarry for the filming. I get that they had to do CGI for the bridge it was on as they used scaffold for that in real life. But they used so much CGI for everything else, I wouldn't consider it a practical effect at all. Why not CGI the whole thing?
I now think they did this only to get buzz going before the release
That's some Back to the Future 3 vibes right there!
"The world is your stage"..... Tom cruise took it literally..
If you look closely, you can see the DeLorean traveling back to 1985 and Doc Brown flying away on a hoverboard.
Bro I saw it!!! It happened so quick though. You have to have good eyes😂
With Clara Clayton in his arms.
it's the same footage
That's right! (Back to the future)!
I can’t believe Tom transformed into a train to pull off this stunt. Man is next level

What’s even crazier is Tom cruise was actually aboard that train the entire time. Bloody legend!
I was on a school trip to the lake district when they were filming up there and I remember for pretty much the entire week tom cruise was going up in a helicopter and jumping out of it. Was cool to see how much work gets put in for just one scene in a film like this.
Jesus. That’s about twenty trillion times more interesting than any school trip I was ever on
I saw some bloke jump off the blackpool tower on a school trip, that was pretty interesting/traumatising
This is SOME commitment! Actually building a full size replica locomotive to crash! The wheels look pretty intact despite the crash, I wonder what they will do the remains of the replica? Also constructing a purpose built section of track is impressive, I wonder what the will do with the track?
They have to take the track down and rebuild all the walls they took down exactly how they where before
It would be taken to scrap likely.

Or "Great British Railways"
Or “Year 2021”?

*cut to camera in a million pieces at the bottom of the cliff*
I don't know think that was part of the film...
@@HOTD108_ That's literally an accepted part of it. The memory of the camera is either very well armored or they have it save to somewhere else on set wirelessly and the cam gets trashed.
Marvel: even a prop gun is cgi
Meanwhile, Tom Cruise:
The Marvel/DC movies went to CG costumes recently (somewhere around Endgame or Infinity War)
If that was a real "steam" engine as it appeared the crash would have been catastrophic beyond belief. When pressure vessels like that crack and break you apparently don't want to be any closer than a mile away. : ) Just the same incredible work by the movie gang!!!!
I'm sure they rigged it in a way to avoid that. For all we know it's a fake train or a half built one

@Jacob Shatford i know dude, i was just making fun of the fact that everythng explodes in movies
I’m surprised the boiler didn’t make more of an explosion.. perhaps they had it at minimum pressure or some safety cell fitted?
@@alastairjones0 you know what that is actually a very good question, i kind of forgot how steam powered locomotives worked, there should have been a big bang, not a fiery one like in movies, but with a big cloud of steam. If it were a real thing that is, they probably just towed it and put some smoke machines in the chimney. Good point.
@@shaman4611 yes good shout about it being towed - I reckon that’s what they did and the smoke / steam is artificial as you say. Probably would have been too dangerous to throw a huge highly pressured boiler off a cliff! It all looks very real though until the crash. I was trying to listen to the noise of the train as it approached as steam trains have a very distinctive sound but the helicopter is drowning everything out.

Cruise will be riding along the top of it and will launch off as the train plummets. The jump off was also leaked and he parachuted away from the bike. Composite that shot with this and there you have it. Probably.

Most likely, this is Christopher McQuarrie's homage to The General. Years ago, I read The EMPIRE magazine article where McQuarrie listed his favorite films (or action films), listing The General as his most favorite (to my surprise, as it is one of my all time favorite films, and the most favorite of Buster Keaton).
