I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this series and I think September is one of the best months to visit. It's sitll warm, the festival crowd is gone and the sun just hits you differently
We flew to Edinburgh from the U. S. and landed on the 21st. at 7:30 am. I knew we'd be jet-lagged but would want to stay up as late as possible and do at least one touristy thing. So, based on your recommendations we had 11:30 "afternoon tea" at the Signet Library. It was wonderful. My only regret is that we were so tired, we left our phones at the hotel and didn't get any photos. Everything was so beautiful. We really enjoyed our time there, but the Royal Mile walk and climb to the castle destroyed our feet and legs for days. It was fortunate for us that Holyrood opened the day after we arrived so we got a chance to go inside. It was quite surreal to walk where royals past and present had walked. I would suggest that anyone traveling to Scotland in late September bring a down jacket and a hat or scarf. It was quite breezy at any elevation.
Really happy to have found your channel! I'm Portuguese living in Prague with my Czech boyfriend and we are incredibly excited to come visit Edinburgh in October this year. So we are finding your content on Edinburgh really useful and it's great to get the perspective of a Prague native on Edinburgh.
I visited Scotland from Canada last year for the first time in November, loved Edinburgh so much I'm coming back for 10 days, again in November, my favorite month.
I went to Edinburgh in April just because I have always wanted to go, and it was really beautiful. I fell in love with the city and with the country and I have never felt that way before, so these videos are helping a lot to see if I really do want to move there. lots of love, Claire 💜💜
maybe having these videos on a proactive perspective about what's coming up the next month? I've loved watching what's happened but wish I could plan my year around your finds! xx
It's really crazy watching this now that I have been in the city for 3 weeks! So cool to have been to most of these places already, I'm kind of awe-struck and impressed with myself haha. Beautiful b-roll shots as always!
Hi Kaki. I just stumbled on your videos while searching for Edinburgh videos. I have been watching your videos back to back from last 2 days. I am coming to Edinburgh with my 13 year old son on 26th of December 2022 for 4 days. Thank for your informative videos. 👍
Would love to see you do a desserts/baked goods crawl around Edinburgh and recommend your favourites! (Just cus my birthday is coming up and I plan to buy unnecessary quantities of sweet stuff- no regrets)
just found this video in perfect time for our Sept visit !!! Can't wait, Edinburgh looks amazing and there is so much to see and do. We will only be there for 3 days so do you think a day tour to Rosalyn Chapel be a good use of our time ??? Keep up the great work, we love your channel !!!
Loved this series so much and love the idea of doing different neighborhoods in Edinburgh for your next one as we're hoping to do more day trips out your way! Would also love to see a Dennistoun vid whenever you make it back to Glasgow next 😂
@@Kakibot A little over a week in total in Scotland. Several days through the Highlands, including Isle of Skye, and then three days in Edinburgh. I actually found your channel when I was debating train travel from London. The tips on what to wear and weather have been helpful as well as places to eat. I really enjoyed the high tea comparison video. I have had several recommendations for the Witchery.
@@Kakibot Didn't end up going to the Witchery because it would have taken too much time during daylight hours--we had a lot we wanted to see. We did go to a really good Indian restaurant called Solti that I would highly recommend. Also visited a fun little cafe called Haggis Box that had traditional Scottish food. They even had vegetarian Haggis that was really good. Keep up the good work on the videos. We had a fantastic time in Scotland. The awesome people we met really made our trip special.
Being on my honeymoon and all I won't be able to cover this anytime super soon, but I'd say Leith, Dalry/Gorgie, Meadowbank are good areas to start looking if you're after a good value! All are relatively close to the city centre! With Leith you might want to keep in mind the tramworks going on right now but at least they are keeping the prices down.
Love your videos! We’re getting everything ready to move there and I would LOVE a series on the neighborhoods! 💗 Also, you mentioned August and September being a tricky time to find a flat… do you feel like it’s easier in winter or spring months? Thank you & be safe! 💕🌈
Just enjoy yourself! My 1st solo trip to Edinburgh was short but I was hooked. Do some tours (like Mary Kings Close) and explore all Closes and Wynds, so you are busy ;)
I will be coming in May or September to Edinburgh. I am 54 years old and am staying at the Castle Rock Hostel (to save money). Is a hostel going to be appropriate for someone my age? Can you do an episode on places to stay while visiting? In one of your episodes you mentioned an APART-HOTEL where the students stay? Where can I find one of those?
Hiii - begining of the video you kept saying “now we are finally getting into autumn-y weather” I know the video is titled September but was is September live while filming and when you referenced the good weather ?
I like watching your videos. Very informative. I note that it is getting cooler in Edinburgh now. Just wonder if it is going to pretty cold by end October and what clothings we need to prepare ourselves. Not sure if we need wool jacket and scarf.
By that point the days will start getting shorter and once the sun is down it does get very chilly. It’s mostly the wind that cools one down, it likes to sneak under one’s jackets so scarves are good to prevent that! Personally I get quite warm when I’m active, so as long as I’m walking around town at a fast pace I can manage with a leather jacket and a scarf, but if that’s not the case for you, or you might want to sit outside in gardens or pubs, you’ll need something warm to wrap up in!
Mission complete! I'll be watching the full play list with my notepad at some point, heh. I really like the idea of a neighbourhood series, I often just can't decide which area(s) are best to aim for as far as rents, etc. I do seem a bit drawn Leith for some reason. Costs do worry me (born worrier!), essentially I've worked out I'd need to pay at least an extra $200 per month than where I am now (Melbourne), but earning about $10 less per hr (going by the minimum wage). Complicated. Doable? Probably, millions already do it, but at what cost in terms of life satisfaction. *scratches chin* lol
I have a friend in Arbroath and he told me September is not a good month to visit Scotland because the days are shorter and it gets dark earlier. He told me August was the best season. But the prices in August are insane and September is affordable for me. What do you recommend? At what time gets dark in September? Greetings from Mexico City😊
We watched the first episode of Rings of Power and when the hobbit kiddos started picking brambles Simon just went "IT'S YOU AND JANA!" ... AND HE WAS RIGHT!
Hey! :) A bit off topic, but I was wondering what are Scottish people like? I’m considering relocating to Scotland and I’d love to know how easy it would be for me to make friends and blend into the Scottish society ❤
People in Scotland are generally very friendly and you can easily spark up a nice conversation with anybody in the streets. Of course, as with any country, making friends as an outsider is a bit harder as everybody already has their own 'groups', but Edinburgh is also a very international city with lots of people looking for friends too!
The previous comment really hit the nail on the head! I think Scottish people are generally friendly, and the levels of friendliness/openness to a random talk varies area from area. But I'd say as a rule, Scottish people are NICE and you can ask anyone for help or assistance when you need it without having to fear rejection or feeling like you're bothering them. But yes, as adults, locals tend to have pretty "filled up" social lives and it can be hard to feel like one of the group. I find lot of my expat friends manage to overcome this by simply becoming besties with their colleagues, haha .D that's like a fast track into anyone's social circle!
@@Kakibot the issue is that the only waterproof jacket with hood that I have is a ski-like jacket from carhatt, the ones that you have to pull over your head which is a little bit inconvenient if the sky does clear up, you can’t take it off that easily and I‘m someone who walks a lot and does get hot quite fast. So it’s about the decision wether to buy a new jacket or not.😅 If the temperature stays under 10 degrees it should be fine otherwise not.
@@linajurgensen4698 Oooh I think in that case you might be better off picking something up in town - there are so many outdoor shops (and a Uniqlo) that would have a medium weight softshell of some sort, and for some reason Mountain Warehouse almost always has a sale on 😅
Does Edinburgh do any halloween stuff? going there for a few days on my honeymoon during that time and wondering how "spooky" it gets. Sounds like I should expect Santa though haha
I think slightly more Halloween than most continental European countries but way less than North America for sure. People tend to throw parties privately though! You might also be able to get into a special spooky history tour! And of course, Edinburgh just IS spooky on its own, Halloween or not!
Im planning to visit London next year in september but ofcourse i will take the opportunity to visit edinburgh. Is it okay and the best time to visit edinburgh in September ? 🥲 hopefully less rainy days coz we just had enough rain 🌧️ here in asia 🥲 Is it enough if i spend 2 days there? 🙇🏼♂️
Edinburgh's city centre is quite compact, so I think two days can be a great amount of time for a quick first visit! I can guarantee you'll end up wanting to come back and spend more time here in the future though ,)

@@reylchinoe I think the most crucial thing to prepare for is the wind and how fast weather can change - this is both a good and bad thing, because you rarely get a whole day of "just bad weather" - it will usually go from good to bad and back again! Which is good for short trips like yours! I recommend a jacket with a hood and maybe a hat and a scarf, and boots that can take some rain and don't slide - the cobblestones here can get a bit slippery! Especially when you venture high up (the castle, Calton hill, viewing terrace of the museum), be prepared to be hit with the elements! It will probably not be super cold during the day but it usually feels chillier than what the forecast says - because of the wind! .)
