What great treasures, but the best treasures were your sons looking for rocks with you at a beautiful place on a beautiful day. Thanks for sharing. Be safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
Hello RL, Nolan, and Chase, wow! The petrified wood is spectacular! That's a lot of good finds today on the BoF. Thank you for sharing a beautiful day at the beach with us. I love your music soundtrack, it's like, perfect.
Hi Jason, glad to see you and the boys back agate. Sorry rock headed spelling. Anyway, I love the joy of nature you share with your boys, the kind of Dad we all wanted, and definitely an inspiration. Keep kickin the soil. Larry
Thanks Larry. Yes it is nice to be back out on the beaches for sure. We've had some spectacular adventures the last couple of weeks! Videos of those coming out soon!
You got sum really cool rocks up there !! Those cycads and seam agates are AWESOME! Nothing beats a day out rock hounding with your kids . So nice of you to share with us . I have picked up rocks my whole life . Mostly geodes , Indian artifacts and fossils in Illinois for over 40 years . We retired and moved to mount Ida Arkansas last year . Actually picked this location for the fishing and scenic beauty . Then found out it’s the quartz capital of the world .. So now I go crystal huntin at old mines . It’s a passion and also a sickness . Lol !! We had 15 five gallon buckets of rocks to haul when we moved !! Plus several boxes of specimens and 2 truck loads of big yard rocks .
I see lots of crystal collecting videos from Arkansas. Amazing the crystals you can find there. That is something we don;t have here is crystal deposits like that. it would be cool to dig for them.
It’s work digging in tailings piles . But can b very rewarding. I would much rather spend my time walking a beautiful shoreline than diggin in the same hole for hours . To me crystals kinda start to look the same once you find very many . The variety of your rocks up there is so COOL ! I would send you and the boys a box of sum of my finds if I knew your address ?? Good luck rock huntin to you guys !!! .ROCK ON !! 😎
Man I love this dude, out with your boys. And honestly, if you hadn’t said they were cycads I’d have called them thender eggs! They look so similar. I love the one at 2:24. Stunning! The botryoidal in there is nuts. It’s like the stuff we find in Rhyolite, isn’t that incredible. Them seam agates and blue chalcedony... ughh! Man just a rad video of good times houndin! Thanks mate! Loved it!
Thanks dude! Yeah man these cycads are my favorite things to rockhound here in Nova Scotia. So fun finding them and everyone is different. Sometimes they have deep purple amethyst cores. So rad! Thanks for stopping by!
So fascinating to see the different kinds of materials on the beach a continent away! I'm in love with those Cycad fossils! This is an incredibly visually appealing video, enjoyed it very much!
What I find cool is when I see videos from the west coast, like Marlaina's, and the rocks look the same as ours. The cycads are my favorite material to collect in Nova Scotia. They are so beautiful with history attached! Thanks for watching Karen!
@@OzoneFineArtVentures they are early Jurrasic. They are hosted in a shallow marine limestone that over lies the massive basalt flow that stretches across the Bay of Fundy. They were buried in limestone, then rotted from the inside out. The limestone casted the skin of the tree and the rotted out centers were deposited with silica in the form of jasper, agate and opal. So technically they are limb casts and not petrifed wood.
Very nice start to the video and to Spring hounding. Apparently the junior geologists thought it was a good/funny start also, ;-). Those cycads are impressive (hadn't seen them before your channel). Happy Easter to your crew. Hopefully the Easter Rockbunny leaves great treasures!
Based on an earlier video you did about this spot I went there in the Fall. Fabulous!! As a part time Nova Scotian returning to collecting, I have found your videos a great source for places to go. (I'm farther down the Valley near Annapolis Royal which has some good spots btw.) Thanks for expanding my rock horizons.
So cool! Glad our videos are helpful to you! I would like to get down to the Digby/Annapolis Royal area this summer for some rockhounding. Farthest we normally go is Margarettsville.
You are not allowed to remove fossils from the beaches in Nova Scotia. It's a terrible rule as most are further degraded and destroyed by the tides if you leave them losing them forever. If I fund a nice one like the one at the end I usually remove it and offer it up to our local natural history museum. If they don't want it I usually keep it
So, are you guys the first and only rock hounds to pick this beach? It looks like there is material every where. You would have to look for days to find just one agate like those on Lake Superior. Thanks for the vids!
It's early in the season so the beaches aren't picked over yet. Also, the Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world. 40 feet! The rocks are replenished and turned over with every tide. To give you an appreciation of the tide, if you look at the frame where I pan the camera across the shoreline at high tide the water would be above my head where I'm standing.
I said there wouldn't be anyone on the beach when we got there, because there never usually is, and Nolan said there would be at least one person. I mistakenly said "wanna bet". There was an elderly couple doing a morning hike when we got there and they were just finishing but they weren't technically off the beach yet. Had we arrived just 5 minutes later.......😡

They are my favorite rocks to collect in Nova Scotia!
Those Cycads are amazing! I believe I've found some myself not knowing what they are!
They are awesome! They are in abundance along the Bay of Fundy Shoreline from Ross Creek to Scot's Bay.
So beautiful!!
