I came across your channel with the first Chainsaw Man retrospective analysis video coming into my recommended, thought it was great, and decided to look at your manga spreadsheet because I'm a sucker for that sort of thing I saw you ranked Space Brothers, a series I'd never even heard of, so highly, decided "hey, this looks interesting" and decided I would give it a shot after I finished what I was reading at that time By the time I finished reading the first volume or so I thought "jeez, this is a really good start, can't wait to see where this goes", and somehow it just kept getting better and better I think my turning point was the end of chapter 37, once I finished it and felt like I was damn near about to cry (it's very physically difficult for me to cry at a piece of media so something even getting CLOSE to there is commendable) I already decided "OK yeah this is something extremely special that's gonna weigh on my mind for a looooooong time" I'm on chapter 105 RN (have been splitting up time between it and other stories in other mediums so haven't read it as much lately) but if it keeps this momentum up it's probably on pace to hit my top 10 favorite works of media ever by the time it's done, shocked to hear so few people talk about it and extremely grateful that I have time to catch up before it ends just by sheer happenstance of when I heard about it

I don't know if you've seen this yet, but since you love Beserk and have started reading Yona, I feel compelled to let you know that Miura drew a couple of promotional pieces for Yona when it was first coming out if you want to see his interpretation of the characters.
I would recommend reading Alice in Borderland. Its my favorite manga, and it absolutely beautiful. It perfectly handles the theme of the meaning of life on so many different levels, and every character feels unique yet interesting. The ending perfectly represents everything the story stands for. I have never read anything that comes close to being as thematically strong as Alice in Borderland. Please read it.

It's because I typically wait for the right time to read manga I think I'll really love. I don't really go out of my way to hunt down the next 10/10-I only do that for 1/10 manga LOL. I've read 1-3 volumes of Holyland, The Climber, Vinland Saga, and Blade of the Immortal. I read about half of The Flowers of Evil as well. I thought all of those were great but it wasn't really the time for them
I was going to suggest that you read 'Space Brothers ' but ... WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT BY THE END XD !! anyway there are three pieces of media i would like to see ur thoughts on ( they are my top 3 pieces of fiction ever btw ) : 1- the house in fata morgana ( the visual novel ) 2- usogui ( the manga ) 3-reverend insanity ( the novel, this one is very very very long it is so good but i cant recommend it cause id rather people to not read it at all rather than not finishing it )

Finally a list that doesn’t have the same Seinens at top 10s! Btw, you should seriously check out other fukomoto’s works (written Kaiji,Akagi,Gai,Ten), very underrated mangaka and I think you would enjoy it as Gai is one of his worst works imo.
Yeah I'm sure I will. I read a bit of Strongest Man Kurosawa many years ago and thought it was really interesting and Kaiji would for sure be in the top 20 if I had read the manga

Twin star exorcist should have a remake and the brotherhood treatment as well tokyo ghoul. Two good manga that's underappreciated due to its adaptation. Akatsuki no yona should also have a second season. This 3 is just good manga but no one talk about it bc of it anime and it was not a good era for anime to get recognition.

Thank you; I'm glad you enjoyed it! As far as One Piece goes, I actually do enjoy the anime a fair bit more than other manga fans seem to. That said, I'm only about 200 episodes into the anime, and I'm watching it with my girlfriend, so that changes the experience a bit for me. It is certainly a little slower than the manga, so I guess it really comes down to whether you'd rather go quicker through the journey or take a more slow burn approach. Personally, I do like the manga more, but I also think the anime is sometimes overhated by the manga readers. Perhaps try watching the first few arcs in the anime and then switch to the manga if you find it too slow/boring? Whatever you may do, I wish you luck in getting into One Piece!
@@NINJAMUSHIAs someone who definitely prefers the One Piece manga, I wouldn't consider myself an anime hater. But the pacing issues that make the anime hard for me to watch at times don't really start until Thriller Bark, and get even worse as it continues. Great video, btw!
@@NINJAMUSHI Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try both for a few chapters/episodes and see which I prefer. Something similar happened with Monster. I read the manga and then watched the anime but the adaptation was so faithful it was like every panel turned into a frame with the addition of the perfect soundtrack. I can't decide which one I like better lol.
If absolutely want to WATCH the anime, pick ONE PACE (the anime is hella dragged out at times and it removes unnecessary scene too), personally manga is absolutely the way. If lack of color bothers you (I was personally fine with it), read colored manga version, especially colorful arcs like Whole Cake Island arc. Aside from that, no problems or complaints, the art style is actually excellent even though it's pretty simple and goofy, the action scenes look awesome, and there's a bit more in manga than in the anime in terms of chapters
read usogui please but keep in mind while reading that it doesn't take off until around chapter 40-50 but truly becomes a masterpiece around chapter 200
@@mr.gamerkabir8142 IDK about Usogui but tbh this is not that unusual because some series just start out slow. Maybe the mangaka has no prior experience or maybe the publishers wanted a different story or maybe the editor wanted a different story and etc etc. This applies to Beck, the first 15 chapters or even 20 chapters are okay at best but after you get through them it just takes off
@@inkoctopui3787 maybe but quite a lot mangaka works with senior mangakas during the beginning of their career. I read that usogui mangaka created the series with no prior experience.
@@mr.gamerkabir8142 Yeah that's what I mean like some mangaka are assistants in another manga before they create their own series actually a lot of them are. Some are not and I guess yeah it makes sense that the Usogui mangaka was not because it shows, the early bits are kinda rough. I'm gonna keep reading though because I have a 15-20% rule where I read that much of a series before dropping it so I'll read 100 chapters or so to see if it's worth it before dropping it cuz I'm 25 chapters in. To be fully honest, it hasn't quite drawn me in yet, it's just meh so far.

Yeah, I think that's true. I really only have Twin Star Exorcists and Space Brothers as standout series in my top 10 if we're talking about unique favorites. But I have more interesting and different titles further down in the list that most people won't know
I enjoyed part 1 & 2 of Jojo more than other ppl it seems, however I fell off on part 3 which ppl seem to praise. Still plan to get back around to it eventually (the anime)
Part 3's anime adaptation is pretty rough imo, especially the first season. The manga has way better pacing. Regardless of the version, though, Part 3 picks up in the second half. The stands get way better, and you can tell Araki found his place with the series
Good video! I already had most of these on my PTR haha...that list just keeps getting longer... I'd like to recommend some older manga (only ones I've read), because I find that reading older manga can be very interesting: - Tomorrow's Joe/Ashita no Joe (One of the greatest shonen of all time, personal favourite) - Getter Robo (and its sequels G, Go, Shin, and Arc, personal favourite) - Hyaku Monogatari (if you like weird little Japanese stories) - Lone Wolf & Cub (extremely masculine) And specifically some Osamu Tezuka manga: - Alabaster (extreme content) - Apollo's Song - Ayako (extreme content) - Barbara (extreme content) - Black Jack - Bomba! - Phoenix/Hi no Tori - MW (VERY extreme content) You might not necessarily like all of these, but I think you'd at least find them interesting. Most of them are also short.
Go and read No Longer Human by Junji Ito and Osamu Dazai .. IMO his best work because i am more of a psychological horror guy than supernatural horror... Story kinda fu*ked me up ngl...

Have you checked out Yu Yu Hakusho? It’s made by the same guy as Hunter X Hunter and it’s pretty spectacular. It does have a pretty weak ending arc, but chapter Black and the dark tournament are absolute bangers of arcs and more than make up for it’s anticlimactic ending. Plus I think the first portion of the manga(which is largely cut out of the anime) is really fun to read.
Noice vid, like a lot of the choices/understood why they were placed where they were even if i may have slightly diagreed with a couple (tho ofc its your opinion so theres no "wrong", thing). Also like how you seperated them into categories. Also would recommend a mamha "Skeleton Double" if you haven't already read it since i feel like it has a good amount of stuff that you look for in a battle shounen from when you mentioned it when you were on Part 5. Not to mention i just feel like its a very underlooked/underappreciated series.

Literally just read dead tube to chapter 3 and I can understand the warnings of reading it but I’ve seen worse Never f***ng mind I read to chapter 7 and am now done with literature all together

That's fair; at least you gave it a fair shot. The only thing that might have hooked you past that was the disaster that is Hibito's moon mission, which is around volume 8-9, and how that sends his character in a very unexpected and, frankly, emotionally devastating direction. Otherwise, it might not have been for you. Personally, it was the characters and their endlessly charming personalities that got me invested at first, and then that portion of the story is what got me truly hooked. But again, it might just not be the kind of story for you.
@@NINJAMUSHI dio is better in every other part he appears in but fair im biased cuz jonathan is very basic and boring to me. Have u watched part 2 anime? Jojo has a fire anime adaptation enhances the manga a lot comedy is better and thats the strongest aspect of part 2
@chai8130 nah, Dio works way better as a personal attack on Jonathan than he does as a mysterious figure for 90% of Part 3. Like, it's Dio. What makes him fun is his constant antagonism and charisma, he doesn't work as a villain in the shadows as much as Kira/Diavolo. That said, his fight at the end of Part 3 is great even if he has barely any personal drama with Jotaro. And yeah, I've seen the anime numerous times (like an unhealthy number of time) and Part 2 is greatly benefited by the directing, voice acting, and music. Everything lands a good bit better in the anime. However, I'm obviously limiting my rankings here to the manga and, regardless of version, Part 2 suffers from super weak character writing and drama, apart from Joseph. Hope that answers your question LOL
@@NINJAMUSHI yeah fair but i find dios fight in part 3, him talking random shit to pucci like a philisopher in part 6 and the entirety of diegos character who is essentialy dio much more captivating and cool than anything from him in part 1 except some funny quotes and i also love gintama to death so joseph who is very similar to gintoki and is voiced by the same guy is my second favourite jojo character after dio/diego

I read and loved One Piece,HxH and even Naruto with all it's flaws. I never was able to get into Bleach. I finished Soul Society arc and I was like...Cool, but I have seen this arc already done and better in other series. And because everyone kept telling me Soul Society was the best thing ever, I kinda stopped. Since even Soul Society was mid to me.
@@Sumsumsum-ws1zo ss is one of the best i have seen, i only remeber enies lobby arc where this was better and even then its pretty close. ss is a good arc , it expanded the world and introduced a lot of characters but its still far from the best in bleach , bleach did got better writing wise later on. The next big saga spanning almost 100 eps has good writing and peak moments but holded back by pacing(anime), and somewhat repitive fights(its way better in manga) , it depends on you if you like it or not, next lost shinigami arc is a small arc but a hidden gem and controversial because it takes a break from fights and focuses more on ichigo. Now the final arc is tybw(kubo at its best) started strong but due to serious health problems(kubo had its shoulders tendons fractured and also sick for years) it was rushed in second half leaving some important plot points left out but i guess you have heard the tybw anime is airing , tite kubo the author is part of the anime team , he already made some important additions to the story and remaining 2 cours gonna have more additional content(tybw arc in anime is better) I hope that helps , as you can see bleach laters arcs have some problems that caused many to believe that bleach fall off after ss arc , you can watch for yourself to decide if it did fall off or not. Its became a bandwagon back in the day but many has come to see the lies. If you watched ss a long time ago then i prefer you to restart bleach, the anime is not so good but the manga is top tier and best artstyle and char designs in the big 3.Also i love op (punk hazard arc rn)and hxh too, sucks that 2 of my favourite stories authors were not in condition to bring their story to full extent😭 and sorry for the long ass reply
I read a volume of Dai Dark and thought it was awesome but held off at the time until more came out. I've read a few volumes of Fist of the North Star and liked it a lot, but I need to read more. Elfen Lied and Dead Tube are, in fact, complete trash. I even have a video about why Dead Tube is my favorite bad manga :^)
The art quality sucks, its representation of trauma is hilariously exaggerated, and Lucy could be a great character of female empowerment, but instead, she is reduced to a fetishized moe girl who pisses herself. Not to mention, the series goes through with incest (not sure if for the sake of being taboo or if the mangaka just has a kink for it), and it isn't even interesting because they're the blandest characters you could ever possibly write. Lastly, the message of "humans treat each other terribly and are cruel to those that they don't understand" falls flat on its face because A) the diclonius literally have it in their DNA to kill humans. Yeah, no shit we want to stop them. They're literally born to kill and can do so with ease. B) The cruel humans in the story are just so overtly cartoonish and hard to take seriously. The puppy scene? Laughable. The scene where the guy walks into Lucy? Hilarious. When Kouta hid that he's going to the festival because he's going with another girl, his cousin? Literally only makes sense in a world where incestuous relationships are normalized, which I guess is what's going on here. That said, as bad as Elfen Lied is, I still have a lot of respect for it. I'd recommend Hazel's video on it as a time capsule for why it meant a lot to people in the 2000s and early 2010s. It's one of my favorite UA-cam videos, actually

@luffys_ Yeah Undead Unluck is really good to me from the power system to it's characters with their backstories and relationships to each other then the world building is really good plus during slower parts where there's no action or it's a training arc the plot progresses nicely.
you're going places man! ignore everything else I before this edit, battle tendency is one of the best and that IS a war crime. I think it's comparable to part 7 and 4, It has a lot of character and is a lot more laid back and fun compared to parts like 3. Anyways, love the list! Oh now that I hear you talk about FMAB, I would totally recommend their other series Yomi No Tsugai!

Yeah I'm sure I will. I read a bit of Strongest Man Kurosawa many years ago and thought it was really interesting and Kaiji would for sure be in the top 20 if I had read the manga

Twin star exorcist should have a remake and the brotherhood treatment as well tokyo ghoul. Two good manga that's underappreciated due to its adaptation. Akatsuki no yona should also have a second season. This 3 is just good manga but no one talk about it bc of it anime and it was not a good era for anime to get recognition.
Great video man. I've been trying to get into One Piece for some time. Would you recommend watching the anime or reading the manga? I know it's a very long journey so I'd just like to know the best way to experience it...
Thank you; I'm glad you enjoyed it! As far as One Piece goes, I actually do enjoy the anime a fair bit more than other manga fans seem to. That said, I'm only about 200 episodes into the anime, and I'm watching it with my girlfriend, so that changes the experience a bit for me. It is certainly a little slower than the manga, so I guess it really comes down to whether you'd rather go quicker through the journey or take a more slow burn approach. Personally, I do like the manga more, but I also think the anime is sometimes overhated by the manga readers. Perhaps try watching the first few arcs in the anime and then switch to the manga if you find it too slow/boring? Whatever you may do, I wish you luck in getting into One Piece!
@@NINJAMUSHIAs someone who definitely prefers the One Piece manga, I wouldn't consider myself an anime hater.
But the pacing issues that make the anime hard for me to watch at times don't really start until Thriller Bark, and get even worse as it continues.

Something similar happened with Monster. I read the manga and then watched the anime but the adaptation was so faithful it was like every panel turned into a frame with the addition of the perfect soundtrack. I can't decide which one I like better lol.
If absolutely want to WATCH the anime, pick ONE PACE (the anime is hella dragged out at times and it removes unnecessary scene too), personally manga is absolutely the way. If lack of color bothers you (I was personally fine with it), read colored manga version, especially colorful arcs like Whole Cake Island arc. Aside from that, no problems or complaints, the art style is actually excellent even though it's pretty simple and goofy, the action scenes look awesome, and there's a bit more in manga than in the anime in terms of chapters
read usogui please but keep in mind while reading that it doesn't take off until around chapter 40-50 but truly becomes a masterpiece around chapter 200

Maybe the mangaka has no prior experience or maybe the publishers wanted a different story or maybe the editor wanted a different story and etc etc. This applies to Beck, the first 15 chapters or even 20 chapters are okay at best but after you get through them it just takes off

I read that usogui mangaka created the series with no prior experience.
@@mr.gamerkabir8142 Yeah that's what I mean like some mangaka are assistants in another manga before they create their own series actually a lot of them are. Some are not and I guess yeah it makes sense that the Usogui mangaka was not because it shows, the early bits are kinda rough. I'm gonna keep reading though because I have a 15-20% rule where I read that much of a series before dropping it so I'll read 100 chapters or so to see if it's worth it before dropping it cuz I'm 25 chapters in. To be fully honest, it hasn't quite drawn me in yet, it's just meh so far.

Yeah, I think that's true. I really only have Twin Star Exorcists and Space Brothers as standout series in my top 10 if we're talking about unique favorites. But I have more interesting and different titles further down in the list that most people won't know
I enjoyed part 1 & 2 of Jojo more than other ppl it seems, however I fell off on part 3 which ppl seem to praise. Still plan to get back around to it eventually (the anime)
Part 3's anime adaptation is pretty rough imo, especially the first season. The manga has way better pacing. Regardless of the version, though, Part 3 picks up in the second half. The stands get way better, and you can tell Araki found his place with the series

- Tomorrow's Joe/Ashita no Joe (One of the greatest shonen of all time, personal favourite)
- Getter Robo (and its sequels G, Go, Shin, and Arc, personal favourite)
- Hyaku Monogatari (if you like weird little Japanese stories)
- Lone Wolf & Cub (extremely masculine)
And specifically some Osamu Tezuka manga:
- Alabaster (extreme content)
- Apollo's Song
- Ayako (extreme content)
- Barbara (extreme content)
- Black Jack
- Bomba!
- Phoenix/Hi no Tori
- MW (VERY extreme content)
You might not necessarily like all of these, but I think you'd at least find them interesting. Most of them are also short.

Have you checked out Yu Yu Hakusho? It’s made by the same guy as Hunter X Hunter and it’s pretty spectacular. It does have a pretty weak ending arc, but chapter Black and the dark tournament are absolute bangers of arcs and more than make up for it’s anticlimactic ending. Plus I think the first portion of the manga(which is largely cut out of the anime) is really fun to read.

Noice vid, like a lot of the choices/understood why they were placed where they were even if i may have slightly diagreed with a couple (tho ofc its your opinion so theres no "wrong", thing). Also like how you seperated them into categories.
Also would recommend a mamha "Skeleton Double" if you haven't already read it since i feel like it has a good amount of stuff that you look for in a battle shounen from when you mentioned it when you were on Part 5. Not to mention i just feel like its a very underlooked/underappreciated series.

That's fair; at least you gave it a fair shot. The only thing that might have hooked you past that was the disaster that is Hibito's moon mission, which is around volume 8-9, and how that sends his character in a very unexpected and, frankly, emotionally devastating direction. Otherwise, it might not have been for you. Personally, it was the characters and their endlessly charming personalities that got me invested at first, and then that portion of the story is what got me truly hooked. But again, it might just not be the kind of story for you.

@chai8130 nah, Dio works way better as a personal attack on Jonathan than he does as a mysterious figure for 90% of Part 3. Like, it's Dio. What makes him fun is his constant antagonism and charisma, he doesn't work as a villain in the shadows as much as Kira/Diavolo. That said, his fight at the end of Part 3 is great even if he has barely any personal drama with Jotaro.
And yeah, I've seen the anime numerous times (like an unhealthy number of time) and Part 2 is greatly benefited by the directing, voice acting, and music. Everything lands a good bit better in the anime. However, I'm obviously limiting my rankings here to the manga and, regardless of version, Part 2 suffers from super weak character writing and drama, apart from Joseph. Hope that answers your question LOL

I read and loved One Piece,HxH and even Naruto with all it's flaws. I never was able to get into Bleach. I finished Soul Society arc and I was like...Cool, but I have seen this arc already done and better in other series. And because everyone kept telling me Soul Society was the best thing ever, I kinda stopped. Since even Soul Society was mid to me.
@@Sumsumsum-ws1zo ss is one of the best i have seen, i only remeber enies lobby arc where this was better and even then its pretty close. ss is a good arc , it expanded the world and introduced a lot of characters but its still far from the best in bleach , bleach did got better writing wise later on. The next big saga spanning almost 100 eps has good writing and peak moments but holded back by pacing(anime), and somewhat repitive fights(its way better in manga) , it depends on you if you like it or not, next lost shinigami arc is a small arc but a hidden gem and controversial because it takes a break from fights and focuses more on ichigo. Now the final arc is tybw(kubo at its best) started strong but due to serious health problems(kubo had its shoulders tendons fractured and also sick for years) it was rushed in second half leaving some important plot points left out but i guess you have heard the tybw anime is airing , tite kubo the author is part of the anime team , he already made some important additions to the story and remaining 2 cours gonna have more additional content(tybw arc in anime is better)
I hope that helps , as you can see bleach laters arcs have some problems that caused many to believe that bleach fall off after ss arc , you can watch for yourself to decide if it did fall off or not. Its became a bandwagon back in the day but many has come to see the lies. If you watched ss a long time ago then i prefer you to restart bleach, the anime is not so good but the manga is top tier and best artstyle and char designs in the big 3.Also i love op (punk hazard arc rn)and hxh too, sucks that 2 of my favourite stories authors were not in condition to bring their story to full extent😭 and sorry for the long ass reply

I read a volume of Dai Dark and thought it was awesome but held off at the time until more came out. I've read a few volumes of Fist of the North Star and liked it a lot, but I need to read more. Elfen Lied and Dead Tube are, in fact, complete trash. I even have a video about why Dead Tube is my favorite bad manga :^)

The art quality sucks, its representation of trauma is hilariously exaggerated, and Lucy could be a great character of female empowerment, but instead, she is reduced to a fetishized moe girl who pisses herself. Not to mention, the series goes through with incest (not sure if for the sake of being taboo or if the mangaka just has a kink for it), and it isn't even interesting because they're the blandest characters you could ever possibly write. Lastly, the message of "humans treat each other terribly and are cruel to those that they don't understand" falls flat on its face because A) the diclonius literally have it in their DNA to kill humans. Yeah, no shit we want to stop them. They're literally born to kill and can do so with ease. B) The cruel humans in the story are just so overtly cartoonish and hard to take seriously. The puppy scene? Laughable. The scene where the guy walks into Lucy? Hilarious. When Kouta hid that he's going to the festival because he's going with another girl, his cousin? Literally only makes sense in a world where incestuous relationships are normalized, which I guess is what's going on here. That said, as bad as Elfen Lied is, I still have a lot of respect for it. I'd recommend Hazel's video on it as a time capsule for why it meant a lot to people in the 2000s and early 2010s. It's one of my favorite UA-cam videos, actually

@luffys_ Yeah Undead Unluck is really good to me from the power system to it's characters with their backstories and relationships to each other then the world building is really good plus during slower parts where there's no action or it's a training arc the plot progresses nicely.

ignore everything else I before this edit, battle tendency is one of the best and that IS a war crime. I think it's comparable to part 7 and 4, It has a lot of character and is a lot more laid back and fun compared to parts like 3.
