The game deserves the REMAKE tag. The ship is now one massive 3D level that can be backtracked for loot after you get security upgrades. The original game was VERY linear. Basically encounter areas connected with paths. Now you can divert energy and explore how you see fit. The game also RESPAWNS fresh enemies when you do backtrack to keep things engaging. Isaac never removed his helmet in original so this is first time you see AND hear him speak. This is a complete rebuild from the ground up. Now they need to remake DS2.
Apparently they are? They intend to remake DS2 & 3 after the success and welcome receipt of this one. Fingers crossed (it gets the same love and attention to detail).
Agreed that they need to remake Dead Space 2. That one is my favourite in the series and considered the best by most people. By the way, this is marketed as "Dead Space (2023)" even though it is a remake.

Nah, that's not built from the ground up. You can watch the DEAD SPACE - EARLY DEVELOPMENT LIVESTREAM (2021). In general, they took the foundations and upgraded upon it. But yes here and there are some sections that have been built from the ground up. It's not a Remake nor a Remaster, it's something in between

This is definitely a remake. It keeps what works and adds content to improve the overall experience.
To be honest. Motive did an absolutely amazing job with this. While some say Dead Space 2 doesn't need a remake. I still think it'd be cool to get one. Ya know? If they did this good with the first game, I'm confident they can nail the second game too.
Absolutely👍🏻this game was incredible and to be able to play a modernized DS2 would be amazing. Never got to play through 2 & 3 so bring em on!
It is also definitely a remake. Though if you haven't played the OG deadspace it is hard to make comparisons. But for people who have played it, there are noticeable differences everywhere and some major changes too along with actually having more side content to explore later on.
As long they remake dead space 3 I fine with dead space 2 remake
@@nathanquinn8273 im still play ds2 though(=games like this one and bioshock infinite and many others still even today so very good like borderlands 2 you have no ideia how many people still plays online even now in 2023 it´s a blast.I buy BD2 on steam a few weeks and oh boy still so many people plays it for me and most of it´s the best of the series.
They should remake 2 and 3. Then I can put away my PS3! I still play the 3 on PS3, Series S and PC. I help people with co-op when I can. I haven't played 1 or 2 in many, many years so playing this was great! Things were coming back to me as I got into a lot of areas and the changes they made didn't bother me at all. Great game!
Seeing joe struggle initially took me back to my first time playing dead space.
If this game was made into a movie with the same lighting and atmosphere, it could have the potential to be the scariest sci-fi horror ever.

Finally !
It’s quite refreshing to see someone rushing thru the game not collecting items , reading wall messages seeing those creepy baby dolls placed everywhere, ignore telekinesis to impale the Necromorphs, finding lore, not really being fully immersed into the game and so on. Like I said quite refreshing actually and it’s good to see people fail! Great job guys (I mean it.. great job as it gives potential players more scope to investigate the game more) 😢

@@Gideon_the_Seraph judging by this I’m inclined to agree I think it’s a case of playin so many games when it becomes a job it takes away the shine an you can see they’d already sat thru a game and weren’t in the right frame of mind or setting being focused on getting something to eat, Get prepared 1st get all ya snacks ready is the answer and don’t play anything right before
@@jaymurray6051 yeah thats a good point. when you play so many games you probably switch off after a while. still frustrating though because i feel like it can lead to them missing a lot of stuff and then blaming the game for not showing them
@@Gideon_the_Seraph I truly believe the joy of actually watching someone play ya Fave game it to relive those moments of joy an jump scare along wiv them but also I think what makes it really great is the facepalm moments when y’all screening at them that they’ve missed something an so on it means y’all really invested in the game and longing them to live those moments as you did so In a way it’s great to see fails

Have you guys ever seen the dead space movies called after math and downfall if you haven't you should watch both it explains more about the dead space universe
if EA knows what's good for them they'll allow Motive to do this same kind of dedication and effort into the sequels

The layout of Ishimura is the same, better graphics, same dialog. What is different is the edit video in dialogue to the Dead Space anime movie, which they should have done in the first place. Before the events of this game Dead Space downfall is a must watch before you play this. The only difference was how you deal with the asteroids, in the original you're sitting in a stationary cannon, we're in this you can just go out and shoot them.
The dialogue is not the same for the most part, plus theres new content/side missions. Weapons have been reworked mostly (for most of them its the secondary fires that have been changed). Story beats happen different at points, while the overal journey ends the same, it has quite a bit different about it.

DEAD-SPACE & DINO-CRISIS Were Always At The Top Of Their Lists.
Now After This Masterpiece Of Remake , The Majority Of Them Have Not Mentioned It In Their GOTY Contenders.
We Need Real Gamers To Form New Outlets.
I believe this is a remake because it uses a totally different game engine (Frostbite), optimized for new SSD-based consoles and PCs (the game requires fast SSD, or it will have some bugs due to low-speed I/O).
Because of this they literally had to recreate a lot of stuff (the old game is too old to just do remaster).
They also adjusted a lot of stuff on gameplay to make it smooth, and added things to connect to later DS storyline better.

@@RCLIM-yx8gv that would be good too, but i think spawning them when you use the save point (wildcard/randomly) is more in keeping with the survival horror of it (should i save? should i not save? what if something’s lurking there… 😬 😬😬)

About remasters and remakes:
Remaster or HD remaster is when the game still use the original code and on the same engine. Devs only updated the game with high resolution textures, 3d models with higher polygons, high quality sounds effects and music etc. But gameplay is the same, only thing might change on the code would be bug fixes and QOL improvements. Ex. Final Fantasy 8 Remaster.
Remake is when the game is completely remade on a new engine or even if it's on the same engine, the code from the original game was not used at all. All of the textures and 3d models etc. could be same, but if the game remade from the ground up, it's called a remake. Story should be mostly same as the original, but gameplay could be updated. Hence, that's why this game is called a remake. Original Dead Space was made in Havok engine while this one remade in Frostbite engine. Everything, the 3d models, textures, story, sound, etc. could be same, but since they remade the game in a new engine, this would still be called a remake.
Also, while we are at it, Reboot: all of the previous games considered non-existent. Core gameplay or core story might be same, but everything else could change. But even story and gameplay could change quite a lot. Ex. Prince of Persia 2008 and Tomb Raider 2013. I would also say Final Fantasy 7 Remake should be called a reboot, as the story changed quite a lot.

Still think I'd not have been able to play this with a controller as losing that ease of free look would've killed the experience for me as body falls from the roof I want to see where it fell from and with the slow y axis movement on the controller would have killed that and probably killed me as well as would have wasted too much time looking up when something came up behind me and killed me as not a fast enough reaction time to get back down and see it.
