The Etsumi-Nan Line (越美南線 Etsumi Nansen, "Etsumi South Line") is a railway line in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, operated by the third-sector operator Nagaragawa Railway (長良川鉄道 Nagaragawa Tetsudō). The line connects Mino-Ōta Station in Minokamo with Hokunō Station in Gujō. It is the only railway line operated by the Nagaragawa Railway. The line was originally operated by Japanese National Railways (JNR). JNR planned to connect the Etsumi-Nan Line and Etsumi-Hoku Line ("Etsumi North Line"), but the plan was never realized. The north line was later succeeded by West Japan Railway Company (JR West), while the south line was taken by Nagaragawa Railway, a newly founded third-sector company, in 1986. As the company name suggests, the line runs along Nagara River. As a consequence of Japan's declining population and frequent natural disasters (such as typhoons and heavy snowfall), the company is facing financial difficulties.

    晴れの美濃太田を出発した列車は乗客が減りアテンダントが下り、雪が降り出しやがて一面の銀世界へ。
    観光列車が北へ向かうにつれて静かになってゆくのが寂寥感あって良いです。

16:16 Two cyclists on the street, wait a few minutes to leave the train stopped at the train station. Why, they do not cross the railway while the train is stopped at the station?
Between the barriers on each side is an opening wider than 1 m, likely to cross pedestrians and cyclists.
Probably the cyclists were tired or were not in a hurry to reach their destination! Or in a small community like this, the Japanese police sanction hard crossing railroads when the barriers are lowered? Cyclists don't seem stupid.
In all countries around Japan, and in the rest of the world, in similar cases, cyclists or pedestrians cross the railway.
    Nagaragawa Mino Ota → Kitano
Doi biciclisti pe strada , asteapta cateva minute sa pleaca trenul oprit in gara .
In toate tarile din jurul Japoniei , si in restul lumii , in cazuri similare , biciclistii sau pietonii traverseaza calea ferata .
