Raised in New Jersey by way of New York, Jax got her start by performing a wide variety of genres and in bands growing up. At the age of 18, she developed cancer above her vocal cords, which returned following a couple months of remission right as she relocated to Los Angeles in pursuit of her music. Left unable to sing herself, Jax turned to songwriting for others and found industry success behind-the-scenes. As her ability to perform returned, Jax needed to pivot yet again when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. This time she turned to TikTok, posting a hilarious response to the pop gem “Stacy’s Mom” from “Stacy’s Mom’s Perspective” which exploded with nearly 9 million views in just a few months and follow-ups including “Update from Avril Lavigne & Sk8er Boi 18 years later.” She continued to go viral a dozen or more times over, having now amassed over 9.7 million followers on the platform and over 155 million “likes” to date. With a massive online audience under her belt, Jax began sharing her own original music in late 2020 to an overwhelmingly positive response - ultimately leading to her signing with Atlantic Records for her forthcoming debut full-length.

harper is SO TALENTED! for those of you who don’t know, metal screaming is not like normal screaming. there’s a very specific technique that’s used to sound that way without hurting or destroying your vocal cords. it takes most people years to learn and perfect this technique. there are some people who have been screaming longer than harper’s been alive and don’t sound as good as her!
Yh it’s hard af, when I was her age I just screamed fully and lost my voice after every session, I caused a lot of damage to my voice
I can attest to the vocal cord damage statement. I destroyed mine when I was young. I was losing my voice regularly by the time I was nine years old. I didn't get nodules. I literally wore them down on each other, and had less than 75% of my cords left. I spent a few years going to vocal therapy, and still have my voice 40+ years later, but I still have vocal issues and health problems from it. Take care of your voice, everyone. It isn't all fun and games.

As a 33 year old dad who has a 3 year old daughter this makes me emotional every time. Thank you for making music like this so my daughter can live in a world where hopefully girls/women won’t feel body issues put on them by old rich men anymore. And you should check out Alex terrible too he got great skills. But this little girl is awesome for sure!!
Her girl growl is super snarky! It's great in some genres. I'm thinking modern death and metal core, anything with a punkinsh or emo vibe. But you can't compare her to all of the metal scene, it's apples and oranges! She would sound like an angry goblin if she growled to the wrong music :^P

this song is fantastic. it's a catchy tune that talks about a real issue we all agree on.
i was torn about how the song should be covered or re-done (i'm a big fan of metal covers, and also a big fan of people making metal covers of songs that really shouldnt be metal covers. just for fun). because number 1, this is a message to all the girls out there who have not been told these truths. but number 2, the song is written in anger almost like yelling at the world. the flash mob dance in front of the victorias secret store was fantastic. it was perfect, in my opinion. you show off all types of girls with different body types and disabilities because all girls deserve to feel pretty. but where's the cover with a lead vocalist telling everyone the message, with a screamer in the background yelling their anger at the world?

As a 55 year old woman who spent many years going to screamo band shows, I wish someone had said this sooner and maybe my now 25 yr old daughter wouldn't suffer from body image issues. This is an amazing song. And coming from a big guy myself, we should all strive to better ourselves inside and out. But this perfectly encapsulates the toxic image issues some of us face.
