Bought the bowie and dagger leathernecks for work. They're small enough that I wont get weird looks (hopefully) but still fixed blades. Triad lock is great until you're twisting and wrenching the blade through some straps and accidentally hit the lock bar, closing the blade on your fingers. I was wearing gloves, luckily, but it was enough that I immediately started looking for something else.
I have the Koyoto 2, just got it a few days ago, and it is a very good little knife. I am a fishermen and I will take it fishing with me. It should be good for cleaning fish and cutting bait, cordage, and what ever. Just a good over all little knife. Cold Steel sells C-Clips, so you can wear it on your belt.
Totally agree about the Kyoto 1&2 , the one is a cool looking tan to but the 2 is an outstanding knife that I’d more that happily carry just that as my knife of the day .
Nearly all Kyotos have a major flaw. Just compare the original pic on your box and compare it with yours. Most blades are crooked and seem to be hammered into the handle. All Leathernecks are flawless. In this case your Kyoto is a good one. Congrats ! 😉
I like the kyoto tanto and the leather neck double edge the best. Unfortunately u don't have the LN double edge, but check that out u might like that one better. Thanks for sharing.
I can't speak to the Mini Leathernecks, but the Kyotos are excellent appendix carry knives, unfortunately we have to add our own zip-ties. But they wear better than my Minimalist Katana and Persian.
I compared I and II side by side and got the II with a reverse grip-edge in Pikal mentality. However, I may go back and get the I to try as a small semi-urban day hike knife. I'd rather not get sticky jam on my pocket knife at lunch time. I did buy the dagger Leatherneck before the store had the Kyoto, but the Kyoto handle does fill the hand better.
got the leatherneck dagger style and the kyoto 2 and i'm getting the other 3 asap. these things are adorable! :P for someone who insists on carrying a fixed blade for edc, the kyoto 2 would make an excellent general utility blade.
Interesting how you much preferred the Kyoto handle for your large size hands. In the video the handle length looks identical to the leathernecks. Anyway, all four would make cool neck knives.
Good to see all of them in one video , appreciate that PM101 and as for the steel it's as you said comparable and sharpen easy. The Kyoto 1 & 2 I like the 2 but the 1 is cool also , I'm just a little burnt out on Tanto at the moment. It's one more out there with a spear point now. 👑✌️✌️⚖️
Been carrying a Kyoto 2 and a dagger leatherneck at work, depending, but it makes me nervous to be carrying a double edged blade for WDC. In West Virginia, they’re considered deadly weapons so if I used one to defend myself I’d be at a disadvantage in court, That said, the Kyoto 2 belly blade, not the tanto, is a very efficient slashing knife. I open bags, slice cordage, even cut aluminum. No problem.
Thx for video. When I'm out around the house working I like small budget fixed with kydex type sheath. Not concerned about losing it just pull it out, use it. I only carry folders at work. The Cold Steel could be good option. Thx
Guys , if you like anything Cold Steel you should buy it soon while its still made in Taiwan , because Im sure once that contract expires GSM will probably have Everything Made in China , you can already see GSM's influence on some prices and on some of their weird gimmicky products , I was hoping LT could hold them off longer but it doesn't look that way ....R.I.P. Cold Steel ...
Hi Chris love your reviews. I've bought a few knives off your opinions and comments but I would love for you to review Some of the Italian made knives like Extrema Ratio and Fox FKMD knives. Keep up the great reviews.
Are they up to the Lynn Thompson level Cold Steel? I got a new Recon 1 tanto after YEARS of abusing the first one and I gotta say there's no difference between Stickman Cold Steel and Lynn Thompson Cold Steel on that particular knife.
I briefly looked at these a while ago. The one that caught my eye, if I'm correct that it was one of these model Cold Steels. Was the blade configuration that was what I would call a Spear Point. Is there such a blade in this group, or was I dreaming? Thanks for showing these up close Chris. It's really difficult to get a sense of size just looking at a catalogue.
Been looking at a small tanto blade for getting the occasional arrow out of trees, the Gi Tanto was first choice but these look a better size, just worry about how much meat is around the point. But then at the price it's worth a go.
They're really just self defense knives. Shouldn't have a problem fitting in just under the cage, perusing through the livery, or poking those kidney beans.
@@preparedmind101 Yo Shellback : I see you came up with a JX6 V2 that is bigger! Also Magnacut !!! How much usable blade is the new version? Semper Fi Gunny

I never thought about that before. Thanks for sharing your experience.

cold steel products are often diverse and very creatively designed.
The leathernecks look like old school oyster shucking knives I used to use. Good to see you doing well Chris!

Thank you- Just bought two of your favorites. They’ll make great back up blades.
I love my OG cold steel Kobún for an edc fixed blade! Not sure about the quality of the newer ones yet...might have to try out a couple. Thanks!🙏🇺🇲
These have metal crossguards. Pretty good quality. I like them
i edc the og kobun too, have both serrated and plain.
I got a Newer one They a Good.

That knife at the end was crazy 👍🏾
Loving that Kyoto tanto,,, lovin the "old school" video,,, 👍😀

I like em! Good Box openers! fun little knives!
That's a scary Rambo knife!
Banging backup blade !

The Kyoto 1 & 2
I like the 2 but the 1 is cool also , I'm just a little burnt out on Tanto at the moment.

What kinda tang are these Kyoto? Rat tail? I really like these for a small edc but I've never held or seen one and I've been curious..
Are these full tang blades? Seem like good little fire kit or companion knives for a big chopper.
Cold Steel says they are, but I'm not sure if it's a rat tail. I used a rare earth magnet and can confirm that there's some kind of metal in there.
Looking forward to this review
these seem like cool noveltys, theyre shorter then my usual carry folders.
I heard that the cold steel leather neck doesn't have a full-tang. Does anyone know whether this is true or not 🤔?.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions...now I must make a decision on which to get!
ARRRGGG!!
Great review!

Is there a 5 inch version of the Kyoto II?
Cold steel Kobun , next best thing 5/1/2" blade.
Looking forward to seeing the next video cool knives Thanks for the video.
Video Suggestion: Show us how you'd make a swedish torch with your current gear
Have you reviewed the Oerla TAC WS-0018?

There's a double edged dagger version of the mini Leatherneck
Nice overview. The drop point Koyoto has a bit of a puukko look to it. I think I may need to pick one up.
Nice small budget fix blade. Been a while.
You're missing one of the Leathernecks, lol. There's also a double edged dagger version.
I have the kyoto 1 and 2 and another kyoto 1 in FDE/Coyote.
That Leatherneck looks like a mini K-BAR
am about to buy one
I would buy one to stash around somewhere.Just can't have enough knives.Haha
Thanks
Thanks Chris. ATB bud
Looks to be decent up sized neckers.
Kyoto 2 would be my choice, but I'm into japanese swept blades an own another one
i cant wait to ej's new knife

rock on sir
Hey Chris can you make a new video on stropping different knives
Looking for a horizontal belt carry. This could be the ticket.
That would be awesome if it were reverse tanto.
How much bro?
I miss your old knife videos (Jessica era) ...
Nice....
I like your favorite. The other's--Eh!
I’m SO impressed with that steel!
Said no one, ever.
It is a budget steel, for a backup knife
Also some mainland chinese knives claim to use D2 steel but end up being garbo due to bad heat treating.
They're really just self defense knives. Shouldn't have a problem fitting in just under the cage, perusing through the livery, or poking those kidney beans.
Nice
COOL I AM GETTING ONE
Just got a Kyoto2
Cool knife. Not sure what I could use them for.
Can not believe CS is using 8cr13mov?? All these yrs of aus8 ,c'mon!!! Because I like them. And hope their not China made at least Tiawan or 4get it.
I see blisters in the future lol
Can you baton with them? ;-) kidding.
Who dis? 😁
Can you build a log cabin
With one-no you can't
Can you duct tape a lighter
To it and leave at the bottom of ya pack yeah
Haven't seen a vid from you in months. Sub to all video notifications. Been on vacation or is Susan F-ing about ?
I've no idea what that means.
Hey Mr Smarty Pants you ain't that smart.
Full tang or not??
