To this day, there are 80 million unexploded bombs and the USA has done little to nothing to clean up their mess. Meanwhile, Hollywood keeps churning out videos painting American soldiers as heroes for massacring people lmfao. What a joke of a country, and I say this as an American myself. Here is a brief narration.
At that time, Laos was a neutral country.
So why did the US drop bombs and UXOs on Laos?
The bombings destroyed many villages and displaced hundreds of thousands of Lao civilians during the nine-year period.
Today, the US bombs still continue to kill in Laos 50 years after Vietnam War.
According to statistics from Lao authorities, from 1965 to 1973, the United States dropped some two million tons of ordinance on Laos during the Vietnam War, including 2.7 million cluster bombs which are designed to break apart and release a payload of smaller bombs. As many as 30 percent of these bombs did not explode.
Laos is the most heavily bombed country in the world per capita. Over the years, thousands of Lao people have been killed or injured, usually farmers tending their fields and children playing.
