Make A Soursop Tree Flower In Cold Climate

Here is what I did to make my soursop tree flower in Canada.

Usually in September, but it started in July this year. I have pollinated 22 flowers already and 3 more should be ready for pollination by tonight or tomorrow morning. This is the first time I have had so many flowers. Usually it's 4 or less because I didn't know I should hand pollinate them so falloff. off.

Thanks. You must be in the tropics to get that many flowers. If so, you don't have to hand pollinate if it's flowering outside, it does help increase the yield. The only flowers I hand pollinate are my butternut squashes because of the short growing season.

You would have to have several flowers or at least 2 so that you can hand pollinate it. If not, it will fall off after a month or two.

@HolisticHealthHub-hi4xl, my tree only produced 1 flower last time. And it never reached maturity stage, I believe it was because of the scales, but I may be wrong.

@@cooltherapy My understanding is that fruit will not develop from the flower if it is not pollinated. I hang a small plastic container under mine to catch the pollen and use a brush to pollinate it. There are several YT videos explaining how to do it. You have to watch the flowers to pollinate at the right time and when there is only 1 flower it would be difficult as the female part (stigma) of that flower might no longer be receptive at the time the pollen is shed. If you have other flowers open and ready you can use it to pollinate them.

@@cooltherapy Also, once the outer petals split and are yellow you have to use you finger to ope the 3 inner ones and do the pollination. then close them back. The technique is shown on YT videos. If you pollinate then more flowers will appear in not they will fall off and you wont get any more.
