We lived a long way from medical help when I was a child, in outback Australia. My young sister spotted a very poisonous red-bellied black snake in our yard. Mum, fearful that we could get bitten, decided to encourge a natural enemy of snakes to set up their home close by. Goannas were given a free lunch in the yard by my dad. It worked, we had plenty of goggies, no snakes.
Aussies have a habit of adding "ies" to all sorts of things, biscuits becoming "biccies", being a common one. Goannas have been added to the list, hence "goggies"! They hate snakes, but they too, have a fondness for eggs.
This is good to know. There are a lot of goannas where I live, in rural NSW, near Albury...Also kookaburras...The goannas get so big, like the size of crocodiles. They look like mini-dinosaurs. One of them was crossing the road recently. The taxi driver had to slow down, and said, "It's big.' I looked to the side of the road, and it was hilarious, I had to laugh, seeing a large goanna, it was like being in a scene from Jurassic Park. :D
@everydayliving658 dang it. Lol. I guess it's hit or miss. I had one in my yard after Thanksgiving in 2020. I almost passed out. Smh. Do you know what type it was?

I have some not poisonous snakes in the garden, I build them hiding places under my plant pots, on the sunny, warm side of the house wall. And I have some of the plants that are mentioned in the video. They like it, I have seen some baby snakes there last year. I hope they will do their job.
@@sv160 I have areas with high grass, bushes, stone/wood piles and flower pots with space to hide under the flower pots. There are many predatory cats in my area, also our cat is eating snakes, but they get a chance to hide and survive. Last year I had baby snakes in my garden, that means one of them was successful.
Ok, so having a yard full of rocks is best...give me a break. Snakes that are not poisonous are great for your garden. So keep you garden and yard clean and neat. Just look before you reach.
First of all, clover is not fragrant because there is so much that is wild that is out here. It is not fragrant whatsoever, bumble bees. And honey bees love to pollinate them. Congratulations, but when I pick them they're never fragrant. There's pink clover red clover. And white clover red clover is actually really good for the blood vessels and cardiovascular system. That is very good, but never has it ever been really fragrant in my personal opinion?
I'm genuinely amazed-bravo!😍😍😍
Thank you so much for your information about this
Thank you for your watching ♥️♥️♥️
I have most of these and chickens to boot. They love my girls eggs.

To this list add banana trees.
I don't think this is accurate. I find they are, however, attracted to landscape fabric/ cardboard. They burrow under.
Thank you for listing the plants.
Thanks, I got every snake out of my garden. I had every plant in your video thank you

Very informative video. Thumbs up 👍
Thanks 👍
Plant oregano around your yard to put the snakes away, it was advised by a snake catcher. I tried it & never saw a snake in my yard again.
But during the covid pandemic, a snake stayed under my oregano plant 😬

Well I guess the snake, heard The Snake (FAUCI) and stayed put, probably wore the (worthless) paper mask as well………………… lmao 😜
How much of above said is TRUE to the fact of my knowledge and understanding.
Snakes and goannas are enemies. They do not like to share the same territory.
Thank you.Very informative.

Maraming salamat din po sa panonood, God bless po sa inyo🙏♥️♥️♥️
I have grown up around all of those plants & trees and have never seen a snake in, on, or near them!!
All you have to do is put mothballs between these plants and you will have no other problem
Thank you so much, God bless 🙏❤️❤️❤️
You mean put mothballs in the plant pot?
Oregano or peppermint are better options. Mothballs are poisonous to the environment.
Mothballs can be bad for you though they are poison to you and pets

I like the racer garden snake or the corn snake
But cannot have them because my cat finds every snake but not the bad mole voles or mice or rats

Citrus trees ? You need to verify your sources about it.
Have some free range chickens around your garden, they will sniff out the snakes for you

Venomous not poisonous
Plant lemon grass to let snakes go away.
You forgot the APPLE tree?
