- 'Who told you you couldn't draw ?' a talk on how to unlearn the learnt . When the first creative blocks are built, what happens when play is policed. How to be free, play and enjoy creative freedom of expression without consciousness. How I have become a play permission giver and learnt to be comfotable with the dark to truly be open to the light of happiness and build interactive art to help others find there lost play.
Alex Box studied and exhibited as an installation artist before training to become a make-up artist, her main focus being on the relationship between bodies and the environment. As a make-up artist, she went on to explore this relationship, fusing art, science, nature and the magical for designers such as Gareth Pugh, Karl Lagerfeld, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Chanel. She is also a regular contributor to Vogue, Numéro, i-D, Dazed and Confused, AnOther Magazine and V. Alex is known for pushing and blurring the boundaries between technology, art, and commerce with both visionary digital collaborations and as the creative director and co-founder of cult cosmetics line Illamasqua, shaping and creating the brand's image and products from conception. "My work has always been about embracing new formats and emerging technology. Through my marriage of art and science there is an endless landscape of possibilities"

Gosh, Alex is fabulous... the kind of person that makes you feel better about yourself... As a father it is such an important message to understand not to stop my kids from expressing themselves in their own manner... as opposed to expecting them to fit what I believe to be the societal norms. Thanks Alex...
+Dirk Daenen Awesome response Dirk.
Wow she is amazing. She reminds me of how trapped we become everyday just aiming for perfection and hiding ourselves just to fit in and look normal and act normal which leads to suppressing our own thoughts and ideas. It's just weird how we do so much for the satisfaction and acceptance of others rather than ourselves. We spend more than half of our lives unhappy with ourselves which eventually leads to depression and negative self talk. The message that I got from her was to just love yourself, accept yourself and be free and not care about others have to say about you. Ahhh this was inspiring :')

Lovely moral behind this video... Just be free. free from judgement. Free to simply be, You. Much respect to her. We need more of this in any strict, & stifled societies... Loosen Up. Free yourselves.
It amazes me that someone can be so unique and so confident and yet put everyone around them so at ease with their humility and genuine openness. She's an inspiration
Just amazing...I can't believe she is so young. She has such an incredible maturity and feeling. Wonderful video.
Thank you Alex. Gorgeous talk!
My sister always got everything in blue. When a stylist friend told me 'these are your blues' as she handed me a palette, my brain shrieked "but blue is my sister's colour!!" As far as my brain was concerned, she owned blue.
Thank you for your insight. I felt your connection, and I am blessed that you voiced.
wow!!!! this was incredible !!!!! so deep and spiritual absolute goose pumps :333
Love the message...creativity is boundless n gives so much joy when done with freedom of expression
Very inspiring and wonderfull image with the bobles and ways of being in life - the open, innocent, playful attitude as the door to total aliveness - just wonderfull
Such a beautiful talk! Thank you for sharing this with us!
She has so much depth in such a simple way of being herself and explain her thoughts...she's magic.
Perfection is a cruel word nothing in the universe is perfect everything is just right . So be just right.
Incredible!! I love this woman, so genuinely inspirational.
Alex, you have done a great job of telling the story. It has become my passion to help others learn to accept their self with confidence through painting.
Alex Box puts into words things I have suspected my whole life surrounding the topic of art and being a makeup artist. Genius
This video is about learning how to unlearn unlearning learning to unlearn learning
Amazing and unique artist and person!
I am amazed by your person, you are so awake, conscious, inspiring!
Amazing what a beautiful talk Alex!
So happy to see Alex talk on this Love her..
Outstanding talk. I wasn't that interested to begin with as I don't feel I am particularly artistic or thought of it much. But her insight on other levels such as the personal space a beautician has access to made my ears perk up. What an observant and instinctually inspiring woman.
I have always admired her as a makeup artist.
Brilliant talk.
i ❤️ u ,Alex Box,Thank you so much.
Alex Box she is one one of a kind ❤
love this woman
Very cool talk! :D ♥
Alex Box she is one one of a kind
I loved that black short geometric hair. WOW!
The one and only Alex Box...
a very deep talk leading to sadness for me - being brought up more by my sister with a lot of "comforming" situations, then me becoming a very rigid architect who could NOT go far .. 😟😟😟
never managed to UNcomform ..
My school drawing teacher told me I can not draw.
this woman has a beautiful mind
She looks like Cruella de Vil.
... but the good version. She's like her good white witch twin sister. :D
If she doesn't inspire you, no other thing will
TAME! xx but appreciated.
Does anyone knows where I can find a Paper or her BA or PhD thesis? I need it urgently !!
She's the new Mona Lisa
this is very funny
I wish she could articulate with words better rather than gestural movements so I could understand her more clearly. I like her message.
Misleading video description. There is too much "me, me, me" in this video and not enough about learning to "unsee" things, learning to draw again....
